  1. I put the 172/50 in that bike, and it ran good afterwords. To be honest about this situation I think it might have something to do with his bore being a 66mm and the o rings right on the edge of the cylinder. It was the right o ring that blew the first time. And now its the right o ring that blew again. Reguardless of how hot that motor got, the base gasket should of never started leaking. Maybe the leak was causing it to run lean on that one side. I know you are sea level also, but i guess with the humidity and temp change the jetting over here is much different. I tihnk you guys need to look into the timing a little more. Trust me I wouldn't have made his bike lean, I wanted it to last the whole trip for him.
  2. So what do you want him to do? Pay for one brand new piston, and one brand new dome?
  3. Who are you to say anything with 11 posts all on this topic? I am not Utley's buddy, you can ask many people on this site. To be honest I don't even really like him. But whats right is right. If there's any question in mind then have him send more detailed pictures. Pictures dont lie!!!!!!! I've had my fair share of screwing on this site. I didn't like the replies some people said either.
  4. You can be pist off at me all you want. I stated my opinion. He may have lied to your reply about the moisture but come on man. You can't look at those pictures and tell me that pitting looks like moisture. To me it sounds like you found a better deal somewhere else. Don't even want to give the man a chance to make it right. Yeah Utley's attitude isn't correct, but wether it's in a sale or not he is always like that. And no I dont think it's cool, but I think your expecting to much out of him. Sounds to me like you want new pistons and domes out of him. I agree I think he owes you one piston and dome. I've seen water on pistons and domes at least 10 times in my life. Never looked like that.
  5. I'm going to give my opinion on this situation based on the for sale thread that can be viewed here. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=106924&hl= Looking at those pictures to me it's totally obvious that the dome and piston are pitted on one side. The cylinder around the exhaust port is a little more than scratched but is shown really well in the pictures. I agree that his reply to the pitting was not correct. He said it was just moisture, but you also had the pictures to show you what was wrong with it. I think that the only thing that should be in question is the one piston and dome. Let him send you another used piston and provide you another dome. Since Nate has the domes, he can cut a matching dome. As far as the piston goes, as long as he sends you one in damn near new condition I feel that it would make it right. Don't expect him to buy you a brand new piston, because you didnt buy new stuff from the beginning. If he can't send you a piston thats damn near new with no damage then I think he should pay for a new piston or at least a large portion of it. The cylinders were known that they need nikasil, so thats not an issue. I'm not friends with either side and I've never dealt with utley. I know he sent Perry a motor that has the sprocket nut welded onto the shaft, but he sent him a new tranny shaft.
  6. Ride 117 miles on any four stroke and see how your ass feels. Theres nothing more comfortable than the banshee seat! I own both a banshee and a YFZ450. It's a must to have both.
  7. The wining ticket number was 397667 yellow ticket

  10. Should of known Pablo would of been all over this. I saw 8 plate and thought of Pablo.. I opened it and started laughing. Sorry had to say it. Bump!
  11. As stated above just using something cheap like ATF type F, and take it for a spin. While its still warm drain the oil and refil it with new oil. Should be good to go. What did the problem turn out to be?
  12. There is a hose running down in between the intakes from the head. The hose connects to a metal hose that feeds into the side of the clutch cover. When you remove the cover there will be a clip holding that metal tube into place and an O ring behind it. That seals the metal tube from leaking water into the the cases. It seals inside the clutch cover. Hope that helps. I don't have any pics to share.
  13. That's exactly the groove I'm talking about.. That needs to be replaced. No matter what you do, if you try to use that it will leak.
  14. If your impeller shaft has a groove then it needs to be replaced. What happens in the stainless on the aftermarket impellers is soft and the seal actually cuts into it after time. My first pro design impeller lasted about a year. The second pro design impeller I'm on is going 5 years strong.
  15. In order for a leaking O ring to put water in your oil, it would basically have to almost fill up the bottom of the crankcase, and then your case halves would have to be leaking.. It's almost next to impossible. It would either be the water pump seal, or the o ring on the metal hose that goes into your clutch cover.
  16. Sounds like your water pump seal is bad as stated above. Slide the water pump out and check the shaft for a groove. If you have a billet water pump impeller it is pretty common the seal will put a groove in the water pump shaft causing it to leak. If you have the stock water pump impeller its most likely the water pump seal.
  17. Not to mention that those photos were taken on 10/16/2007. Have anything more recent then that?
  18. I've always done 6 PSI for 6 minutes. Never had it leak past 4 PSI in that time. You should be good to go.
  19. You should probably pick a builder and give them a call. There are plenty of them around this board, and plenty that aren't on here. My porting was done by LC performance.
