i would vote for wiseco's that were built 3-6 years ago. if you look at the bottom there should be a lil bitty W on them. i believe if the W is not there they are the "newer pistons"... wossner and vertex pistons are also nice. used vertex in dirt bikes for a long time..

the stock backing plate is a hard mofo. MUCH better than the cheesy back plate that comes with the hinson.. on a side note the last barnett basket i got had an ALLUMINUM!!!! plate IT DIDNT LAST LONG.. tim at titan can machine the backing plate for the screwes.. if needed..

if a cool head is leaking it was installed wrong OR was majorly overheated and not replaced and is now warped.. NOW some "cool heads" are a bad design and are prone to mechanically failing.. BUT thats usually only on high hp motors 90+ hp. the stock head DOES have some advantages in that its structurally stronger BUT the head gasket can still be prone to fail if its pushed to far. thats what i have found over the years.. i would LOVE a stock head thats cut to 68mm bore and o~ringed.. would be a great sleeper head..

why not just ask mull if they tested this head design against other shop's stock cut heads and how they compared.. what they tested them on and what with, drag, trails, fuel type.? engine power gains?

hotrods long rod crank & stroker crank?
camatv replied to KickStartMyHeart's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
wiseco pistons that were bought about 2-3 years ago seemed excellent in quality. the ones i have been getting just recently are slipping in quality but quite a bit they are heavy'r, seems cheaper( hard to describe) and the cuts in them are different.. not sure if wiseco'd will be holding up to the quality they were known for, in the next 2-3 years.. rember when harley, davidson sold out to amf for a bit?? not sure whats going on over at wiseco but i'm not buying ANY wiseco built or sold crank EVER. hot rods cranks seem to be nice. but i might try a vito's crank here before too long... the wossner pistons seem pretty nice. not sure what the selection is yet.. also vertex pistons held up pretty good in the ole dirt bikes i used to build. ( 2 smokes) piston clearances and mahineing of the cylinders is the biggest thing i feel in piston life... and overall motor quality -
that was bo diddly's ( scott) dm or dmx i cannot rember what size it was but it was huge he was having some minor issue;s with the carbs. he let me ride his 250r puma that bike was a BLAST to ride.. first honda i have been on with an override.. my lil turd 485 cheeta i felt was on kill this last weekend. its amazing what a new clutch will do.. and of course the M+M crew was hitting it hard also. steve's ole rappy was holding up well and i feel was killer the few times they actually sprayed it ( yes 90% of the time it was on motor only) didnt see shit for 4 pokes at all?? couple really fast NOS raptors and maybe like 1 or 2 450's r+s racings 450r honda was looking good as always and i really enjoyed seeing "the shit" and his bro's out havent seen them in a LONG time.. had a good time with everyone.. spurd, racing jason, zach, tanner ( what happend?) good day for me.. i was on a haevy painkiller all day and it kinda geeked me out.. so i was probably actinag a lil weird

hmm really similar to these! http://www.angelfire.com/extreme2/yambanshee/techtips/pipes/graydonpipes.html

sst's respond VERY well to a drag port and alky also they are a sweet sleeper pipe.. they will overrev pretty dang far for a "trail " pipe.
-
the chamber on these pipes looks much larger than an fmf. these look very much like DOMA's and i believe that doma makes ther own pipes. the silencers look like turned down sparks silencers.. OR the more recent CT style round silencer.. with a lil tippy on it.!

if you raise the barrel you dont HAVE to deck the tops of the cylinders. and i would HIGHLY recomend NOT cutting the tops of the cylinders up it makes things a mess later when you want to change anything else.. NOW i'm not saying that you dont have to change something... BUT rember domes dont have to be just cut UP...
-
with the stock porting and the t-6's +4 advance iw ould HIGHLY recomend using a 104 to 110 oct fuel and re jetting for it. you do that and you will have a dependable bike. the stock porting will result in more compression.. ( lower exhaust height) and you should end up with a very strong midrange/ bottom end bike with those mods. if you want a top end screamer you would have to get a lil different pipe. BUT you will loose the bottom end that those t-6's have.. i have t-6's on my trail bike and i love them for that application..

i have had great luck with this oil. http://www.castrol.com/castrol/sectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=9022114&contentId=7040925

i wouldnt recomend type f on a bike thats ridden that much in a drag bike that see's a track and then gets the oil changed after a race maybe. BUT you should be able to have your local auto parts store order castrol 4T motor cycle oil/. its more made to work in the trans and its motor cycle specific. it will last a LOT longer it only costs me 3.99,, and if your fluid is blacking out and stinky your over heating the clutch or the transmission. you better try a different fluid. bet you will notice it lasts a LOT longer.. go to your local hardware store and look for a small rubber snap in plug then buy the hole saw that it fits into and you can cut the hole for your adjuster.. if you use the cascade cover with the o-ring i would put a small drain hole in the cover lower than the adj hole sio the fluid can drain back into the bottom end.. the lil rubber snap in plug works with any cover...

does it have a fuel gauge on it? i know my car says super unlead only on the gauge.. might check the manual..
-
if you have a banshee already i might take it as partial rtrade in on my lsr 485cc cheeeta bike i am looking to sell. you can just drop a bomb right out the gate and start out with a bike thats really fast... but its not really set up to "dune" i dune drag it but i would want to ride it out ont he big dunes..
-
the best person to answer that kind of question is the one who would end up selling them to you anyways..
-
just play with it till you find something that you like... also the above posts about lining up are nice just creep up to the staging lights and be carefull not to red light BUT dont undercut your light's when comapring slips make wure you factor in your reaction tim into the overall time sometime a few tenths can be due to bad reaction's.. if you have hill raced it will be similar ( except for the hill) and you will probably get boared from sitting around al the time.. the gearing tire combo, swingarm length, suspension or no suspension, frame set up, engine tune, tire choice, reaction times start stuter box engine combo will al play a factor in your times...

hmm not sure why ANYONE would want a supercub that big... the 16/75mmbore cheeta is a bad MOFO in my opinion its one of the most powerfull banshee CP engine combo's out there. nice blend of tq hp and overrev, reliabilty..

thats what i was just thinkin suprised some one hasnt drove over and got this thing already@!..

dang they make a bunch of different pipes. 700 bucks for pipes is a lil out there.. not sure if that canada$ or what.. http://www.splashndirt.com/catalogues/manufacturiers/PDFs/Sniper_17-3-05.pdf
-
look kinda like DOMA's if your in canada might be why you have a set. i'm not sure how available they are in the states. look cool. i'd try a set to play with.. if i could find them..

dangit!! i wont be home for the "trike rampage!" i know a fat guy witha lil bity 3 wheeler that would have liked to have gone.. i should have bob's motor done soon. i have been SWAMPED since i got back have 3 bikes to have DONE in the next 3 days. going to be a lot of work. then its time for bob's ride .. i want to take my time on his and make double sure everything is set up right and ready to kick ass! so hopefully for whatever trip in may, april? or whatever i will be able to haul it back up and give it back to bob.. then we'll see if he can flip it over on the strip!
