  1. you should'nt have to heat it up, when I did mine I left it off like 2 days and when I started putting it back together it slid on perfectly with no problems
  2. Thats what I got a stainless steel one and it's pretty fat, I had a hard time getting it to fit because the tie rods and the steering stem where in the way but once you do get it on you've got like 1/2 an inch between the pipe and the tie rod, I've had it like 2 months but still have'nt got to try it out but I should be able to next week if I get a CDI.
  3. I would also like to know, it doen't seem like it would be all the hard, but I would have to start welding alot more and get alot better before I would even try it, I would just build the a-arms and go buy some replacment ball joints that srew in.
  4. I just heard on here a couple days ago that fmf reed cages are the same if you ported your stock cages, I would just save some money and port your stock cages it's really easy and I say it would save you a ton of money.
  5. well to my understanding my stator is good, but do you know why my stator has 18 post? was it something they did in 88' and then changed? Thanks, Jonathan
  6. wonder why they outlawed them? like amost all the pro's rode 250r's, but I guess the 450 is gonna be a better woods machine then the 250's, but I would think after all the money they had in those 250's nothing would be better. I think it's gonna be a damn good race this year since there all riding the same quad, it couls be anybodys race this year.
  7. ok thanks alot man, I'll go test it and see what it says.
  8. damn good job! I did mine kinda like that but I used metal fence post "had it lying around and got bored" but I like them and they work alot better then stock, they don't look as good as yours though I'm not the greatest welder, I'll get a pic of mine tommorrow though, Hope your rib fells better!
  9. ballance is gonna be on a 450 this season? but I gotta give bill his props. he's damn good, I raced at big buck last year and thats some rough shit, Not as easy as it looked on TV but damn fun! I'll hopefully be racing some GNCC's this year but I gotta get my AMA membership renewed and thats like $100 bucks.
  10. I need to know how to test a stator, I know its not a stock stator because it has 18 Lighting and spark posts on it, I'm not getting any spark and I had my coil tested at a dealer and he said it was good, so I know its gotta be the stator or the CDI because I have checked the whole wiring harness and the grounds, and the coil, and I heard that you cannot test a CDI so I just wanna make sure its the CDI before I buy another, and I have a pocket tester
  11. yea I did mine with that same paint awhile ago and it looked damn good but mine's painted with metal cast ground coat and then metal cast blue now and I think it looks better when your in the sun light it just sparkles

    Cdi Box

my CDI went out and I need one for a pretty good price, and mine is an 88' but I'll take any year.
  13. I was racing xc when I was 14 and I'm only 16 now and in georgia, just be a man though and don't race the little kiddy races because I wouldn't even call then a hare scramble because it's just like riding through a short flat trail with no hill climbs or mud or anything, and to me thats not a hare scramble, and if you ever come up to georgia theres alotta good scrambles like 2 times a month, but I like durham town plantation the best if you've ever heard of it.
  14. what all does it come with?
  15. yea thinks lee, this rocks!
  16. I've gotta motofast 2into1 pipe and its huge I don't think it would fit with a j to a conversion because its hard enough to get it on my j arm banshee. but I quess you wouldn't know unless you tired it or someone on here knows
  17. when I had my yz250 I rebuilt the top-end and it was easyer then my banshee, and it's just the same as rebuilding a banshee top-end but with a power valve and one less piston, and you don't need any special tools just a 12mm wrench and socket and a ?torq?"can't spell" wrench for the cylinder and head and a pair of needle nose or a flat head for the circlip, just make sure you tightin' the power valve linkage bold good that way it won't slip " I forgot to and my power valve didn't work" but its a real easy job, it shouldn't take you more then 45mins. if you got all the parts.
  18. your carrier bearings are probley shot, not to hard of a job to replace.
  19. well I put my motor back together and I have no spark, I have tested everything and can't find anything wrong except for the wiring coming from my stator has one extra white wire coming out of it where it plugs into my wiring harness I have the black one connected and the yellow one connected but I still have that white wire coming form my stator and no where to plug it into my wiring harness, I have looked at my wiring diagram and it does'nt even show a white wire coming out from my stator, so should I strip my tape off my wiring harness and see if theres a wire hiding in there somewhere? and that white wire go's to one of my ignition post on my stator if that helps any. Thanks in advance, Jonathan
  20. the clutch boss nut is bigger then 30mm because I when to a local hardware place and tryed to fit it and it was way to small I say it's probley a 33mm or 34mm but not sure
  21. well that was'nt the problem , I've tryed everything I know to do and still no spark, any other suggestions? Thanks, Jonathan
  22. I never had the cdi off, but on my wiring harness where it go's by where my pipe and silencer meet coming from my cdi, I have a wire burn through and some others almost burn't through so I'm gonna put those back together and see what happens, I hope thats my problem, I'll let ya'll know if it is. Thanks, Jonathan
  23. ok I just rebuilt my entire bottom end for the first time, and when I took the flywheel off I noticed the stator had 18 spark thing posts on it, and now that I got it all back together I have no spark, I haven't got the carb or the pipes on it yet, and a couple of them are riped "the copper wire" but I can't figure out why it has 18 on it? I thought a stock one had 14 or somethin'. before I stripped the bottom end down it had spark but it run like crap, and one piston and my head was trashed and thats why I tore the bottom end down and replaced all the bearings and seals, could it be my stator, coil or CDI? or could it be somethin' simple I just over looked and remember I had every single part took apart. Thanks for all the help in advance, Jonathan
  24. well I have some time on my hands so I figured I would do a product review on my new msr bark busters, well for starters if you buy both the bark busters and plastic shields be prepared to spend about 2 to 3 hours working on them and putting them on because the holes in the bark busters arn't pre-drilled so you have to mark all the holes in the bark busters and then drill and tap the holes, and then they give you two little pieces of heater hose that goes on the bar inserts that are way to small to fit around them so you have to drill them out, and then when you do finally get them on your handlebars you have to modify the plastic shields for the front brake lever and maybe your clutch lever if you still have to long stock one, well when you do finally get them on they look pretty good, but I think the price was a little to much for all the work you have to put into them, I paid $74.99 for both the bark busters and the plastic shields, but I think next time around I'll go for another brand other then msr because I don't think I wanna go through all this again.
