  1. My favorite thing is to show the dirtbike guys that these quads mean business on the mx tracks. I mean dont get me wrong, there are some fast dirtbikers that I get stomped by. But your average decent rider will go out there, and start talking smack about the quads. When we can hit all the jumps out there, and we're faster in the turns. I love when I get in front, and all they see is dust. It really makes them mess up, Ha! There is also a one mile straght of dirt road right next to the track. We have a 1/8 mile mark off on it, and every one races on it. I lovvvvve handing it to all the the new four stroke quads!!!
  2. I rode a DS, they are fun to ride and wouldn't mind having one myself for a second quad. But beating a banshee, hell no! It would need a lot of mods, more than a K&n and pipes. I raced my friend on his stock banshee and got spanked, and this DS had both. There are a few quads that will beat a stock banshee, but the DS is not one of them.
  3. There is no way he should of beat you. You need to check out your bike.
  4. I' m sorry to say, but the yfz450 is just an four stroke like every other one (except for mx). I drag race them all the time. One of my best friends has one now, so I ride it all the time. The only reason they feel so fast is because there geared down from mx racing. This also makes them feel fast at the dunes. If your on a shee with pipes and stock gearing racing a piped 450, watch out. Dune races dont really get out of fourth gear. A geared down mx four stroke is going to have the advantage. If you gear down the shee, things change. We geared my friends 450 up to get a little more top end, and there just like any other four stroke quad. We ended up going back down. Stock for stock the 450 beats the shee hands down, but so do some other four strokes. If you have a piped shee and you lose to a stock 450, you need to work on your riding skills. Four strokes are easyer to race, and you have to be a little more skilled on the shee. But thats part of the fun! For mx the yfz450 is by far the quad to have, but for racing the shee is king. The yfz450 is not even the fastest fourstroke! The Predatory is faster. I see these quads race every weekend, and the 450 will get the jump but the Predatory will past it every time. I race both these fourstrokes every weekend and kill both of them. MOD FOR MOD NO FOUR STROKE CAN BEAT A SHEE!!! If some 450 has beat you and its playing head games with you, pull it together and get your sh-t correct. Because its you, not the bike!!
  5. The 33mm is on the edge for stock port. I have a 35mm on mine now, and so for its looks like its going to be the better carb. Thats on the stock port. If I were you, I would start off with at less the 38mm and go from there. I think the 35mm would starve it a little.
  6. Your psi is what you go off for the type of gas to run, and porting will lower your psi. Most of the time you want to go to smaller domes to offset this.
  7. I have the T6's, and I love them. I have rode a bike with the fmf's on it. The fmf's have a smoother power with more bottom in. The T6's have more of a in your face power band with good mid and great top end. Smaller domes and timing advance help a lot for the bottom end and mid range power. If bottom end is what your after, dont get these. The bottom end isn't bad, but isn't great either. What I like the most is how wild they feel.
  8. Three turns out, sounds like a lot. You shouldn't go more than 2!/2. May idle high. due to running lean. Try two turns out. You also might want to pull them apart again, and make sure everything is the way it should be. Everyone makes mistakes, I now I have.
  9. It was well worth it for me. The single carb setup has a better average though the power band. Alot more bottom end. Yes its losing 4 hp up top, but for a gain of 10 on the bottom. If you look at the dyno I gain a lot more than I lose. The shee is more fun to ride, and easyer to tune.
  10. So true, I love it! Leadfoot, get a blank square graph and make one with this info. Thats what I did. The stock duals power below 6000 thousand is so bad, I didn't even have it printed out. Single is killing the dual up til 6500, 7000 there even.
  11. I have the cv-2 33mm. I'm going to try a bigger carb, and dyno that. I have a 36mm just setting around.
  12. Can you guys see these? Because I can. Let me know so I can fix it. They take a second to pop up.
  13. I would start off with 320-340 mains depending on your altitude, and 30 pilots. I ran 320 mains and 30 pilots at 4500 ft, and it ran great.
  14. I have the TR6 pipes. When I just had the pipes, I ran 280 jets, 25 pilot. You wont notice any bottom end lose, except when your chugging around on some trail and then try and rip it open. The T6 is a great all around pipe, but bottom is not its strong point. I think the T6's sound just as good, if not better than the t5's. If your going to be doing a lot of trail riding this is not the pipe for you. You will find that your working the gears a lot. If you do a little of everything like me, you will love these pipes. As for getting T5's or T6's? Buy the better deal, both pipes are great and the power difference is miner. Personally if I didn't have the T6's I would have the pt mids. They have better bottom end than the toomeys do, and dont lose that much top to them. In short....... If your just going to be ripping around on them get the toomeys, great power and sound mean. If your doing a lot of trails, the toomeys hate to putt over montains.
  15. One thing about getting old, you dont bounce as well. But man when I was 21 things were great. I would crash and be riding the next weekend, maybe the next day. Now if I crash, it may be a few weeks before Im back on the shee. Things hurt a lot longer.
  16. Right now its seat of the pants, but I'll dyno soon. The shop were I take it for dynos seems to have problems with the dyno every time I go down there. I will try again tuesday.
  17. The whole time I have had these pipes, They have always had this dip in the power band. The power would dip off at about 7800rpm, and then build again to about 9 or 10. The Two into one carb took just about all that out. The power band is a lot smoother, and stronger. This is a most have for all you tr6 owners!!!!!!!
  18. If you find out later that you did mess them up. Look on ebay. I got some stock ones off there for 5 bucks. I plan on doing the same thing. Its a cheap way to go for now, until you want to splurge on some new ones. I see them on there all the time.
  19. I raced a stock V about a month ago. I was really shocked at how slow they are ( in stock form at lease). After I raced it my friend on his stock banshee ( has a K&n) beat him pretty bad too. I thought it would have been a better race. I'm not trying to put them down, but MAN!!
  20. banshee jetting info Try this link it should help you a lot.
  21. Make sure the race is on a long piece of road, so you will have some time to top end him. Maybe put a 15 tooth gear on the front if you dont all ready have one. Most 250's are geared for the track, not top end.
  22. I say race him and see. If he has just a pipe 80 over and stock gears you will beat him if you know what your doing. If he has more done, see if you can talk him into giving you the go. May be all you need to put some dust in his face. I beat piped 250's all the time, but I also get beat by them. If there stock, or just have a pipe I can get them. Anything more, and need them to mess up during the racing or I'm eating dust.
