  1. Ash trays are full, its time to dump. What's your address again?
  2. What's your address? I have a couple ashtrays to empty
  3. My first question to you would be: What type of riding do you do? OK, nevermind, just get a 4mm stoker cub setup and be done with it.
  4. Been lookin to upgrade from my 2003 Ranger. Thought about Fords, 150 or 250, but stopped by the chevy dealer the other day and really like the 2500 HD crewcab. It had the 6.0L, 4x4, auto, and some nice creature comforts I'm lacking now. Also, they had installed 6" lift and shiney wheels, bigger tires. If I would have drove it, it would have followed me home I'm sure. OTHER THAN FLAMING ONE BRAND OR THE OTHER, anyone have personal experience with new or newer GM products? I hear they fixed the piston slap issue, and haven't heard anything about brakes on the new rigs. And as truck consumers in general, we are all screwed as far as tranny's go, unless you opt for the Allison/duramax, which is outa my range. Thoughts?
  5. I have stockers bored to "28". Don't bother. They work, but not very well. Just something that I have heard, but some say the 33's are the problem child of the PWK line, as in harder to tune. Get them there, your good to go, but you may lose some hair in the process. Since I'm a duner, I will be going 35's with my 4mm. The other choices recomended to me, by a reputible builder, was 28's, or 28's bored to 30, depending on port work and riding style. just my useless $.02. hops
  6. Ya'll need to kiss and make up. Or atleast simulcast the jello match. So whats the spread?? $$$$ Ladies and Gentlemen, Let's get Ready to Jiiiigle!!! No, I don't don't know either party. Don't really care. But couldn't help myself. Atleast I found it funny.
  7. My bikes were sittin out back after a good scrub, waiting to be put away in a day or two, as I don't have a garage myself. Damn wind blew some of that ash south, leaving an ever so slight layer on them last week. It could have atleast waited for me to get the bikes put away. But just like a woman, the mountain had to have it her way. Had to wash em all over again, but atleast they are put away safe and sound for the next go round.
  8. 1 throttle + 2 carbs = 3 springs Couple options 1. Suck it up and deal with it. 1.5 Lube cable 2. If TORS removed, can remove spring from throttle housing. 3. Buy an extended thumb throttle. 4. Switch to a twist throttle. 5. Have heard of people running a file over the slide springs to weaken them, but would never do it myself. 6. Switch to a single carb setup. 7. Sell your shee real cheap and buy a 4 choke.
  9. Why don't you whip it out and stick it in the tail pipe. That oughta leave a lasting impression.
  10. Yeah, talked to the builder, wants me to check for air leaks too. Running freshly cleaned dual clamp on K/N's with outerwears. It wasn't running good, so I checked the plugs is why I started with the mains. No color, and couldn't get it to bog either. Got somethin goin on, gonna try to look at this next week. Just happy to still have it, someone took off with my trailer, two bikes, and dumped em off in an apt complex down the street...Had the lock that goes into the ball hitch, they couldn't get it too far jerry rigged on the hitch. Too bad I didn't catch em in the act. Thanks guys, I'll see what I can find out. Great site, great source of info. I'll be back..
  11. Well, I had even worse luck this weekend. Was running a 360 main, no color. Went the the store, threw in a 380, no color. Went back to the store, finally threw in a 410. PHUK, no color. It was dry and hot, but really now, that's quite a jump just for weather. I was probably border line lean on previous trips, but I atleast got some color on the porcelin. And this is both plugs, not just one side, so I think that rules out an air leak. My only thought is the timing is too advanced, like stated above. Would this cause the plugs to show no color? Its either that, or I've been running extremely lean for like 5 trips now, and the builder don't know schitt. HELP
  12. Thanks for all the responses. I'm gonna get to run it this coming "weekend" (sunday-tuesday), and will be able to open her up near the parking lot, so tuning will be easier as I don't like opening the carbs while on the sand. My thoughts are to put in the b8-es plugs, check the main, then try the choke trick and go from there. I know the stock carbs aren't ideal, but atleast they are bored to 28... As far as timing, that's what the builder set it to, so unless I have other issues, it will stay until I have more work done. (But I probably could drop octane if I did??) I will try and let ya'll know how it goes. And as always, if someone has something to add, please feel free.
  13. Right now, starts great, low end is good, topend is "great", but right before is hits the pipe, it blubbers and stumbles, then takes off like a rocket. Orignally tried "toomey style" needles, but went back to stock and it helped a bit, but not enough for my liking. Don't get me wrong, the bike is ridable, it is just bothersome considering my stock gearing, 22in 9 paddle tires, and what kind of riding I've been doing. Plugs tend to be rich off the pipe, clean up on the pipe: almost too much(plug? see below) Considering what I've given you to work with, what ya'll think? I'm pretty sure its just a needle move, but which way? down(clip up)? Also, how much of a difference will a B9-ES vs. a B8-ES NGK plug make? I know the difference is the heat range, but is it that big a difference? (ie, if I go back to a 8, will I have to reduce the mains cause of the cooler temp?) 30 or 32.5 pilot stock needle, middle (or clip 1 down from middle) 360 mains 165+ lbs compression +6/7 timing VP 110 @ 40:1 yamalube see below for mods...before I keep rambling
  14. Yeah, I guess I need to clarify that I used NO MORE THAN 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 throttle, not keeping the RPMs constant. It just seemed to die, I didn't hear or feel any "bangs" or "pops". I tried startin it once, but decided to let the shop figure it out. The shop tried to get it runnin with the afore mentioned steps, but we ran out of time. We(I will be helpin the shop) are going to tear into her Monday, but I just thought someone may have had something similar happen.
  15. I did 5-7 driveway heat cycles, rode about 1/2 a tank at 1/4 throttle, 1/2 a tank at 1/2 throttle, (all this time, plugs looked great)and was starting a 3/4 throttle ride when she just died while at 3/4 throttle 4th gear. I was nervous about it so I threw it on the trailer and went home. It is in the shop now, but I'm wonderin what could be wrong. It seems to have compression, has spark, fuel is getting to the carbs, carbs were cleaned. No fuel is getting to either cylinder at this point. (shop guy and I went over this stuff) Everything but the pipes and filters in my sig are new, including the Reeds, and assembled by the "pro"(excluding carbs). Are there any other possibilities other than the reeds that could cause this? It would just seem like a rare event that both reeds would stick, even odder that they could stick closed. Any idears?
