  1. Stock carbs actually work pretty well. You might look into have them just bored out. Lots of guys I know run stock bored carbs on there ported shee's and it works really well. To certain degree and depending on your set-up, it is actually an advantage to run a smaller carb because the velocity of the air is much greater..
  2. There is some adjustment in your throttle cable where the cable and the lever/twist that you can play with to set your idle. I think its much easier to adjust it there then to try to do it on the carbs themselves (if you have already synced your carbs).
  3. its not that you cant disagree... Hell different points of view are good. Its just you make such a jackass of yourself doing it... Your constant insults in every post discredit your intelligence. I dont mean to insult you, I'm sure you know your shiznit but the hostility that you bring to table is getting old.
  4. If you are running aftermarket reeds it may also be possible that you may be sucking air somewhere too especially if you are running reed spacers too. When you check the reeds make sure to seal up those reed cages really tight.
  5. Personally I wouldnt run my bike without the correct washer. The washer has some notches in it where the grooves fit onto the shaft. When you install the washer you need to make sure that the grooves line up when you are tightening the nut.
  6. Here is a link for what you are looking for... Part #35 http://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/OEM.asp Enter your make, year, etc. and then type in "sprocket" then click on transmission.
  7. There should be a washer lock behind the sprocket the folds over the nut to keeps it from rotating.. Kinda looks like a big washer that has one side that folds up to the nut...
  8. Nevermind, the pickup on the stator was too far out.
  9. Almost got this thing all back together but I cant seem to get a spark for the life of me. I made sure the ignition was on along with the key? I'm pretty sure that everything is hooked up correctly and the bike was running before I yanked the motor so I am scratching my head on this one. Is it necessary to ground the motor to the frame? Any other ideas for no spark? What did I overlook? ________________
  10. I had the same experience with Dan... he went beyond what a builder has to do. When all my stuff came back it had a bunch of little extras that he didnt need to do, he just did them. Things like an extra gasket kit, pre-jetted the carbs with different needles, extra love in the paint for my cases, allen head screws in the float bowls, gas lines, shaved my flywheel, and on and on and on. Just the little things that seperate him from the rest. Things like that and the fact you can reach him without much trouble will bring my business back to him everytime. Without a doubt he'll get my next motor that I build.
  11. I agree with Ken... this place is going downhill or at least parts of it are.. i used to check in here everyday and post but now its hard to do that with people threating people and talking shit about builders they know nothing about or have ever dealt with. Attacking someone or someone's work without ever dealing with them or even racing theirproduct is a little childish to me. Even more childish is thumping your own chest and challenging people to race over the internet "Meet me at the hill" or "you should come to glamis and race bikes down here" sounds so dumb it makes me want to puke. It's pointless and does nothing for this site or the sport in general. Someone is always going to have deeper pockets and a faster bike than you... that's just what the sport is about. Builders like Patriot, A & S, Packard, SSR, Ohton, CP industries, etc. push themselves every year with new innovations and faster motors. Some are faster than othes but not all of them are out to build all out drag motors with drag specs. Personally, I'm not looking to be the fastest because I know I never will be... What I had built was a respectable motor that holds its own at the hill but still is going to be fun in the tree shots and out on the dunes. To me being the fastest isn't everything. That's my opinon though. I have nothing against people coming to forums such as these and complaining or giving their viewpoint about a builder or about something but I believe it should come from first hand experience.
  12. What do you mean by "Why dont they post there shit up"?
  13. Sorry no... She's all bolted back together.
  14. I never have dealt with Dave Moore but I do hear he does do good work. As far as Dunegoony (MP) goes I can personally say he does a great job whether it be motors, parts, chrome, powdercoat, etc. Great prices, good product, and an extremely nice guy.. I recently bought a set of his drag-lite a-arms and they are top notch. Easy to get a hold of too. I've also dealt with Dan Wade up at Patriot racing (built my cub) and also say he was also a great builder to deal with... He pays attention to the little things and calls you back or PMs you back the same day if you need to get a hold of him.... Here's a pic of the cub Dan built for me....I'll try to get some better pics of the a-arms Dunegoony built for me up soon.
  15. Gotta say I love mine too. I have atv fury and tiger woods... To be honest the atv fury sucks... Where did you get that gig memory card for it?
  16. Mine is a 68 bore 4mil with 38's... 55 pilot/ 160main, DGK needle in middle postion that's what Dan from Patriot recommended for mine... Should get you somewhere in the ball park though.
  17. I really hate to say yes or no. So many factors can go into what you really need. How much porting has gone into it? Do you know what your exhaust port height is?
  18. Although that is probably a good rule of thumb, compression is not the only thing that determine's the octane of gas you should run... you really need to factor in many other things than just the cranking compression. You need to take into account things like exhuast duration, bore size, dome size, timing, and, squish clearance to really determine what you need to run. When it doubt run higher octane fuel...
  19. bore x bore x stroke x .0007854 x 2 = displacment Probably looking around high 70's low 80's depending on your porting...
  20. Banshee's have a first gear?
  21. Whatever you do, dont take it to your dealership... for a grand you can do a lot with a private builder. Everyone has there favorite builder on this site so do some searches on builders and pick the right one for you before talking to your dealership again.
  22. Believe it or not some welding and Iron supply stores carry them. Its a long shot but I know my local Iron supply shop has them in stock.
