Those front fenders are hideous!!! The rear fenders look good, but those fronts just make it look like a hunchback banshee To each their own!

When do they temps start getting back into the 70 degree range at LS? I'm wanting to plan a trip in the spring but don't want to go when it's still real cold out. Any info is GREATLY appreciated!

500 other then bored n ported?
bigboybanshee replied to outlawchico151's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Wow, you already got your cylinders ported? I thought this question sounded really familiar, you just asked it not long ago.....why not just use the same thread rather than create another one asking the same thing? http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...topic=52878&hl= Why bother with more power when you have problems like this one.... http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=53105 Hell, you even asked that question twice http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=53106 -
He's gonna need more than that...I say cut out all BS and just get a good port job with some bigger carbs; guaranteed you will win

Interesting, I never knew you could do that...I'm guessing the 2000 grit paper just takes off the top layer on the coating? What kind of compound would you recommend to polish it with? My PC'd frame is kind of dull in spots too and I would love to make all of it shine like new again

hmmm, interesting. I'll definitely have to look into that...

Glad I could help! You'll like the pipe and air filter mods, if it's not nasty outside (weather wise) pull the airbox lid off and go up a size on the main jet. I noticed a respectable gain just by doing that And if you feel really frisky, get the cam mod done. It gives you an extra horsepower or two and makes the bike run smoother overall. And the best thing about it is it's free and you don't have to replace the valve cover gasket, you can re-use it! There's a pretty informative post on www.yfzcentral.com on how do do it with pics... I'm not sure if you know this, but changing the main jet on the 450's carb is REALLY easy. If you look at the bottom of the carb, there is a 17mm bolt right smack in the middle of the carb bowl. All you have to do is remove that bolt and the main jet is right behind it. You don't even have to take the bowl off; it's just that easy. I know you're having a mechanic take care of this now, but if you need to change out the main jet for fine tuning, it's really freakin easy and you can do it with just a few hand tools at your house. Checking the plug is simple too. Remove the plastics above/around the gas tank, pull the two bolts that hold the gas tank in, slide it out and there sits your coil on top of the plug. 15, 20 minutes tops... You can do it freestyler!!

Before I did the cam mod with just the pipe and filter I was running a 170 main jet, NCVQ needle on the 3rd clip from the blunt end (1 up from the middle), and one size bigger on the pilot, which I think is a 48. In your case due to the difference in elevation, I think you would be good to go with a 165, maybe 168 main jet. For now, I would leave the needle alone...You'll wanna adjust your fuel screw too, I think mine is at 2.75 turns out. Don't worry about it though, you won't burn it up if your jetting is off a little. It took me at least 2 or 3 trips out before mine was jetted right. If you're riding it and it doesn't feel right, read this article and it can help you determine which way you need to go on the jetting. It's mainly for two strokes but the principle behind it is the same. (lean/rich conditions, etc.) http://www.dfn.com/agservices/jetfaq.html

That's what I was going to suggest...and you can't get better all around service anywhere else! I think dual 34's would be too much, but you could always switch to a 2 into 1 carb setup with a 34 PM FASTOYS though, he'll get you what you need...

Seeking answers (have searched)
bigboybanshee replied to Joshtruction's topic in General Banshee Discussion
For the airbox concern, I would leave it on there with the lid on for when you ride in the snow, and then when it's warm out you can pull the lid off, jet it up a size or two and run it that way. I wouldn't want to risk getting snow in the airbox simply because when it melts, that's a good amount of water near the filter If I were to pick a good "all around" tire it would probably be some razor 2's. They seem to be a pretty solid tire and have deep lugs. I've never run them before but have heard plenty of good reviews about them. If you're looking for a set of tires for strictly snow riding, PTT's suggestion would be my choice (paddlemasters). On the shocks, if you get the yfz450 shocks you can adjust the compression, bound, and rebound on them. I have a yfz450 along with my banshee and all I did was increase the compression a little to compensate for my extra weight; left the bound and rebound alone. It actually made a nice difference!! One thing to consider if you go the route of changing to yfz450 shocks is you'll have to grind down the upper and lower mounts on the shock to get them to fit between the a arm and frame. There is a couple good posts on here about how to do that, and it doesn't take much....just figured I'd give you a heads up As far as the engine mods...like PTT said if you properly break it in you'll be fine to do whatever to that engine. If you plan on porting the cylinders, I highly recommend either having the crank welded or upgrade to an aftermarket crank. The stock crank on banshees likes to separate under high compression or a large power increase. If you do plan to go with a NOSS head, the guy you'll be buying it from (dlnoss) can tell you exactly which domes to get to achieve what you're after....a lot has to do with your elevation, timing, etc. as to which domes you would need to keep it in the 50/50 pump/race gas mix. -
Welcome to the forums!! You'll be fine...I weigh the same as you

Jeff is the man...no doubt!

I haven't tried any drag pipe other then Grand River's suicide pipes but I couldn't be happier with the performance they give....The fitment was great, the power comes on real hard and doesn't stop pulling.
-
Good choice! I ran trails, sand, drag raced my friends....all around a great pipe! I ran a 13 tooth front sprocket with my setup, helped get those RPM's up a little quicker in the trails

I believe they base the "sale" on whether or not there was a "winning" bid. I don't think it matters if the seller gets paid, I think all they look at is if someone won the auction.

Here's a link to the one Cotton Eyed Joe made for DUNEDEMON http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...133&hl=grab+bar

LOL, you have to be kidding us...you got what you deserve man!!! Maybe you'll think twice now before taking advantage of someone else's kindness!
-
Don't know if you knew but Cotton Eyed Joe makes them, pretty sick ones too. If you don't get any offers, I would send him a PM and ask about it.
-
All of them are the same except for the first few years of banshees; I think (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). If I were you, I'd just get another set of wheels...I wouldn't put blaster hubs on the banshee just to make the wheels fit.

Thanks!! We appreciate it! Now fuck off!
