raptor clutch in banshee
bigboybanshee replied to clayton00grand's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Were your steels in good shape? If you re-used them, you should have cleaned them good, checked for heat, and scuffed them up pretty good before re-installing them, given they weren't damaged. Either way, I'd replace the fibers with the appropriate ones  -
I think this is why you are smoking unevenly, I'd make sure both carbs are synced, not just the slides, your air screws, etc. too
-
 I'd recommend the same, 280-290 main

Along with Cheetah DM, Caracal, and Cougar

Cub and cheetah cub are the same thing...you can get them in 65mm and 68mm bores. They come right out the box with a quote, unquote "drag port". They can be ported a little more but it doesn't pick it up as much as it would a stock set of cylinders. A lot of folks just clean up the casting flaws and run them as-is. Others, like myself, have them ported just to get as much as possible out of them. Twister cylinders are just another type of aftermarket cylinder. You can get them in a variety of sizes (bore and stroke), like the cub but you have more options with the twisters. The downfall to twisters (if you want to even call it that) is they need a lot of porting to run really hard. You can get these in small bore or big bore, and you have to buy the whole top end kit. http://67.199.65.66/twistercrankshaft/stor...ORE_DEPT_ID=286

Yeah, if there's no TORS, I can't imagine there being anything else electrical that would interfere with your cable/carburetor/intake setup. I'd slap it on there and let it rip. When I installed my 2 into 1, I never spliced any wires, just bolted on and go.

Do you know if the dunes are at a different elevation than your house? That will most definitely alter your jetting from one place to another...You should bring with you at least 2 or 3 sizes bigger on the mains, and change your needle clip setting too if need be, to help the transition from part throttle to full. Good luck
-
I'd be willing to bet those instructions are referring to the TORS system. Do you know if your bike still has TORS on it? If no TORS, then disregard the instructions. If you DO have TORS, then we'll need to get you a pic, lol

If you trail ride, then a cub is not for you. Yes, it will require a new crank. You'll also want to get an override transmission, because you'll have a hell of a time shifting with a stock tranny You'll have to upgrade your clutch assembly (new basket, clutch, and more than likely a lockout, which requires a cover). You'll need some bigger carbs and a pingel so you can provide enough fuel Why do you feel like you need to go to a larger bore?

Bog is lean, sputter is rich. You are lean. You should try what has been suggested before looking for more advice

That is awesome, by far the fastest turnaround time I've ever heard of....hats off to you

That sounds familiar

Didn't dirtwheels already do this?

Of course... But I don't think the hypertech program is what made this guys vehicle run crappy, unless it just happened to be a faulty hypertech unit...lol, I said unit. I was just throwing my .02 in the jar since I personally own/installed/use a hypertech programmer and have had excellent results with it. I do agree there are probably better programmers to get for diesels, I've got friends with an Edge chip and another with Bully dog, nothing but great things said about them.

Maybe a bent shift fork on your shifting issue, or the claw around your shift star is not lined up properly? How much ignition timing do you run? You may need to bump it up some, and if you're rich on the fuel, lean it down to where it's right
-
You fired it up with no exhaust on the bike? If you didn't lean out your cylinder tremendously by starting it with no exhaust, I would think you have a dirty or plugged up pilot jet/circuit. Gas turned on? Just remember, you need air, fuel, and spark to make it run. As long as you have those 3 things it will run, it may run crappy, but it'll fire off.
-
Go to Corky's then!!! Dave

Pilot jetting is for idling and part throttle. If you mash the gas and you have a bog, your problem lies in the main jet/needle postion. Upping the pilot jet is just going to flood out your cylinders when idling, and you'll have to wait for it to clean out before it'll start running right.

There is a lot to the doc and I that most folks don't know about, only a select few know the true facts about it and I'm not going to tell the whole story cause it doesn't matter anymore...but for what it's worth, he was taking my words and twisting them, he made false accusations about me specifically on several occasions, attacking my character as to what kind of person I am (it wasn't something simple like calling me gay), and I surely wouldn't create a post just to talk smack to him about this...I wasn't the one to throw the first stone when we had our arguements. If all he did was say I was gay I wouldn't care at all. I know I've said some things that I wished I hadn't later on, but I learn from it, and do my best not to make the same mistakes...I also know sometimes we all get caught in the heat of the moment, but I posted those questions here cause it's good to stop and think about that stuff before you decide to drop the hammer on someone. Is it worth it? What does it affect? If dude came and said, "daj is a lying, cheating, worthless bastard", I could totally understand where you'd want to correct that...but I think as adults, it's safe to assume if someone says "daj is gay" it doesn't really have any merit, unless you or someone else truly thinks you like packing fudge, lol. gregrob was intentionally trying to get a rise out of you and it worked, he's probably laughing his ass of right now. I don't think you're a bad person because you made this post, I was just trying to shed some light on some of the first things that come to mind when I saw the post, and I'm sure others thought the same...I wouldn't have said anything at all if I didn't believe you are better than this....sometimes it takes a friend telling you how things look from a different perspective, lol, my friends tell me shit all the time...it may come across harsh at first, but in the end, I thank them for helping me see the other side of things.  Dr. Phil

what king of set up it's the best for drag race
bigboybanshee replied to bansheeqc's topic in Drag Forum
Of the setups you listed: 10mil cub, cleaned up Honestly, the lectrons would be your best bet Generally, small bore pipes would be best IMO, but depending on who does the porting also depends on which pipe you want to run, every setup is different. The only thing that determines reliability is how well the engine is put together and maintained. A 350cc engine can be un-reliable...don't skimp on putting quality parts in there, use what's best if you want a long-lived engine. -
I think I am still confused....here is a re-cap of the facts -The childish actions taking place on the site make you not want to frequent BHQ as much -A childish stranger on BHQ calls you a fag in the shoutbox -You feel belittled enough by a complete stranger to create a post just to make the immaturity more public, where EVERYONE can read it, not just those online at 1am -You've lowered yourself to the childish stranger's level I guess this is what I'm wondering... How can you justify complaining about something you are contributing to? What are you trying to prove by making a post to argue your sexuality? Are you concerned that people really think you're a fag? Is his calling you a fag having any impact on your life, or others, enough to make a special post about it? Sorry, I'm just trying to understand

Maybe there are existing issues with your vehicle before you install the hypertech programmer and the new program is making your problems more obvious? I installed the Hypertech Max energy program in my truck, made a very noticeable difference. I changed the shift points, installed power program, and adjusted for my 20" wheels/tires and it really woke my truck up. I noticed the torque more than anything, and I average 75-100 more miles to the tank with the new program. I have a gas truck too, not diesel. 96 GMC Sierra, 5.7 liter, cold air intake, gibson headers, flowmaster, custom tranny, (shift kit, accumulators blocked off, etc) I have had an extremely good experience with my hypertech programmer, it's already paid for itself with the fuel savings.

If you're against all the childish bickering, then why start a post in here JUST to continue the fight? Seems kind of like you are contradicting yourself You say you're against it, yet, you're promoting it

You got it, racing every weekend I can! I'd love to make a dune trip but my wife would kill me if I left her that long while she's pregnant...She about took my head off for being gone overnight at the bonne terre ATV nationals, lol Are you still tearing up the hillclimbs?
