Maxxis ALL-TRAC...Anyone use them?
trail rider replied to cudaz101's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I've heard that they have really good traction for mud, loose dirt and hardpack, most trail conditions and that they last a long time. But I've heard people say that they are really hard to slide with, because of the large side knobs and tend to make it hard to get out of deep ruts. I just got some maxxis sur tracs and I love em' These things really hook up grate in mud and really good in loose dirt, kinda spin a little in real hard, slick ground though. they are awesome on trails and hill climbs. -

Who got the best price for their Shee?

I got my 2001 for $2400. me and my brothers bought it together, so we each had to pay like $800. I only had to drive about 30-40 miles to the guys house to get it. It has bill's pipes, brand new blue plastic, nerf bars, ac front bumper, aluminum water impellor, bullet swingarm guard, prodesign air filter, worn down holeshot rears and razr fronts, and I am not for sure yet, but the guy said that it was port n' polished, milled head, bored .30 over, prolite pistons, and +4 timing. Also the frame is powder coated candy blue, and its got front and rear steel braded brake lines. The guy also gave me the old plastic (cut fenders), stock pipes and sliencers, stock wheels and tires, and a clymers manual. I think i got a hell of a deal. I can ride with either stock fenders or race fenders whenever I want and I got two sets of tires and wheels that I can use. The only bad things about this bike was that he still had the stock jetting, even with all the mods, the coolant overflow line was hooked up to the breather tubes on the case, which kept pumping water into the case till' i figured out what was fucked up , and the left lower a-arm was missing a ball joint, it just had a bolt through it . -
oh what I would give to see that on tape . damn that guy sounds like a dumb ass.

dont worry, I got one now . Its a vega with a chrome color and red flames

Is it me, or does it look more like a man on that street bike? I seen a picture of a guy that big on a warrior, I post it iff I can find it

I use maxxis sur tracs, they might be alittle heavy but they hook real good
-
what kinda dirt are you racing on? is it like real dry and hard pack or is it lose or tacky? I just got me some maxxis surtracs and those things hook up like nothing else. With my bandits I would start out in 2nd and I would still spin off the line all the way to 3rd gear on my dirt drag track, ( really hard pack, dry, dusty) Then when I tried it with my sur tracs in 2nd gear that thing jumped off the line ridin' a wheelie untill I let off the gass and shifted to 3rd. And I think now that this thing hooks up so easy that it is the reason my rear sprocket is starting to chip teeth they say these are mainly mud/snow tires, but they can slide when ever I want them too and they are awesome on trails and hills

Huh? the smell was probably race gas or some kinda klotz premix ( smells reallly good ) the sound: did you have your ears plugged or something?

Read this ..... This is out of control !
trail rider replied to ~~Banshee~~'s topic in General Banshee Discussion
That would fuckin suck if it was illeigal to ride on your own damn property . And even if it was I would still ride. The only way they could take my banshee from me would be if they could catch me on, and I really dont see that happ nin. Some cop or state offical tries to stop me, I'll just give em a face full of roost -
Your thumb throttle is not stiff, maybe your just soft? J/K I dont really see why people think that banshee's have stiff throttles? When I first got my banshee I thought it was fairly stiff the first couple of rides. After that I didn't even pay attention to it.

yes the 4th one is starting to wear, but I wouldn't worry to much about it. When you can take the ball joint and rattle it inside the a-arm, thats when it needs replacing. when I got my banshee, the left bottom a-arm didn't even have a ball joint, just a bolt and some washers through it . The other lower ball joint was loose to where it would move inside the arm when you would pull/push on the tire. Then one day when I was jumping the loose ball joint popped out when I landed, didn't hurt nothin though since I was going slow thankfully . Then I just orderd 2 used arms with good ball joints off ebay and so far they're workin' grate

If you feels it stop pulling at WOT then it is your main jet, its too lean when I first brought my shee home and rode it, it was really fast and had really fast throttle response, but at 3/4 and WOT mine would stop pulling and would pop, fart and backfar. As it turned out, mine had stock jetting, and it has pipes, pro design airfilter, and (acording to the previous owner , +4 timing, port n' polish and new pistons) I changed the main from 200 to a 340 and the pilot from a 22 to a 27.5 and air screw 2 1/2 turns out and this thing pulls like a muther . From 1/4 to wide phuckin open, my banshee will not stop pullin untill I let off the gass. I have yet to whind it out completly, and I'm even geared lower than stock (13/41). So I think its your main jetting, and it wouldn't hurt to go up some tooth in the front since you can pull it. I allways spin through 1st and part of 2nd when ever I drag on pavement and toward the end of the race the other guy is stayin up, but he's still behind me

Is there a topic about buying a used shee?
trail rider replied to RoAsT's topic in General Banshee Discussion
yes there is alot of topics about buying a used banshee with lots of very helpful info. Just use the search button at the top of the page. welcome to the HQ -
word I think your just upset that ur buddy got the ticket and you gotta take ur frustration out on someone, and it is usually the cop in these situations , its just human nature. but the cop is just doin his job. Besides ur buddy or anyone else should not be riding on public roads anyhow. Believe me, you'll change your mind one day when you get hit by a car or something and the paramedics will be scrapin' your ass off the road with a shovel

wee had one of these "shodeos" at our county fair one time. It was sponsered and setup by bill balance . They had some kinda pole race where there was a line of about 15 to 20 poles spaced about 6 or 8 feet apart and you had to zig zag in between em down to the end and back. Then there was a barrel race. And the third event was a combination of the pole and barrel races with some jumps thrown in, kinda like a big obstacle course. Bill balance raced in the big event and whoever could beat his time won like $200 or somethin. There wasn't any banshee's though and the only 2 stroke was some kid's bad little blaster set up for TT racing. If they have it again this year im fo sure gonna enter my banshee for me it was the first time seein a pro rider in action and let me tell ya, that ol boy is one hell of a rider on his yfz and he was haulin some ass. But one guy did beat him by like a sec or somethin

if you could change 1 thing about the Banshee...
trail rider replied to gixxer_sixxer's topic in General Banshee Discussion
yea, who ever said get rid of the TORS crap . Some better shocks with more travel and more adjustment capabilities, better air filter setup, different chain adjustment, better radiator, new exhaust design. An updated motor would be nice, just not to the point where the average Jo would have to take it somewhere's to get it worked on instead of doin it his self -
Opps, sorry man. I was thinkin' that cause on one of my bikes (crf 150) there is play in the shift lever, like you can still move it down a little when your in 1st. Its like that on all the ones ive seen so I guess thats the way those are made . I dont even notice much stuff in the shifter on my banshee. Mine doesn't go down after ur in 1st so I guess ur's is a problem. my mistake, wasn't thinkin

Does anybody have the thumb throttle kit from motion pro that replaces the stock carb caps, use with stock leveer comes with idle kit, and eliminates the tors. I was also wanting to know what all would i need to do to remove the tors from the shee. It already has a parking brake block off piece installed on it. thx

well for the first time i rode a 450 the other day. IMO i like my banshee better. it feels like ur settin real high and a narrow wheel base. my banshee is low and wide. plus has a softer seat i rode it out in a field and will have to admit it has good power punch but i would rev it out and shift expect to still pull hard but it come up short leavin me to clutch it up to high rpms. im used to the power band of the banshee to keep me goin. just my .02

im not sure if this matters but im runnin some bandits with lots of tread... does that matter?

so the county just recently repaved our road in blacktop, which means when im draggin on the road my tires just catch like i dont know what. before they did it i could spin tires and never raise the front end which i liked. so im askin for advice now. i cant start in second no more cause it just raises up or bogs down. it wont even try to spin. should i start in first and use a lot of clutch or start in second? ne advice is good...thx
