Would Changing Gear Sizes On My Shee Help
Blue Duece replied to sandbanshee1818's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Thanks Blue and Banchetta...I just ordered the 17 already so will have to try it and see how it works.....If it don't pull hard enough, I will go down from there (16/15) ....Will see what happends....This will be with the 18's of course Will post the results......Later, your going to have to notch the inside of your case for the 17, and you cant run a case saver..... -
and in the JD's, the arm is not threaded, the ball joints slide through the arms and have big lock nuts, so you can do a real dead on alignments....
-
they are over valved they run cool and are really stable or predictable over long hauls, great shock in my book and i dig the ride height 9 inches off the ground my bikes like a slot car...not real friendly for open riding but on a groomed track they are the shit.........
-
this is kinda how im feeling it as well.......Tat if you would have run stock gearing he would have been right with you, i raced my buddy on my stroker with stock gearing, and he was amazed how his stock bike could stay with my "Banshee" i geared up to a 17 and then he realized his bike wasnt that quick.......stock dont they have around 50hp? to a banshee's 37? 50 pounds lighter as well? taller stock gearing? and stock for stock theres no hook in a stock banshee chassis......so really how could the stocker win?, then you pipe the banshee? 10 more ponies, more of a fair race? so now pipe the 450 and so on, i think youd have to spend a grip of cash to get the hp out of the 450 you can with the shee for a couple grand, but stock for stock the 450 beats a shee.....and we all know that a stock shee will take a stock raptor at least on pavment where tractions not so much a factor, even the dirt mags boast that, so now even if i hadnt seen it happen, armed with that knowledge id asume the 450 really kicks the raptors ass
-
and if your not goin to shift it's kinda pointless.......ride it like a two wheeler, snap it up, sit down and relax and just try to balance for as long as you can.......
-
stock banshee isnt quite known for hookin up all that good, once a bike gets 20 feet in front of you its hard to pull him back in......
-
i learned along time ago by snapping it up then pulling in my clutch and trying to balance to a stop after a while i can pull it up and blip my throttle to keep my balance, shift and accelerate....you just pratice slow and find the balance point if you start to go over just lean forwardj just try not to pinn it to get it up....snap it up ,pull in the clutch and try to balance it helps for good acceration wheelies too
-
im watching it happen....i dont know where your riding, but i can sit and look out my kitchen window and watch quads race, this weekend there will be 40 quads and about 80 two wheelers playing a 1/8 mile from my house so ill just watch and see whos beatin what and you keep reading dirt wheels
-
cut your swing arm 2 inches they are fairly easy to pull and balance...... i can ride along at 85mph snap my throttle and balance one up to about 125mph.....but then it gets windy and i have to back off
-
ive only ridden them once, they seemed ok, id have to have a set to give ya a honest opinion

Would Changing Gear Sizes On My Shee Help
Blue Duece replied to sandbanshee1818's topic in General Banshee Discussion
i wouldnt go higher than a 15, unless you have some decent hp i dont think you could pull a 17.....the taller gear if you can pull it gives you a little longer accelaration through your gears -
the 450 beats a raptor.....your stock banshee must have 20 more horse power than all the other stock banshee's or your buddy cant ride or both..or maybe its your boost bottle.....
-
thats my conclusion as well..i dont get dirt wheels or any other mag to base my opinion on..but i do have a friend with one and watch him do it all the time, the bike hauls ass its that simple, i watch this guy come up even or even a few feet ahead of piped shee's all the time, specially those geared 14/41, and stock shee's he just creams......

Really,, I know the lower center of gravity is a bonus, but whats your oppinion on the ride quality between the two, Deuce??? Every time I try different shocks, there is a couple of weeks or more between.... the ohlins are a fantastick shock i had fronts and rear as i do with the elkas, i find the valving in the elkas to be better, they dont run as hot, but the ohlins can take a dramatic pounding, i would compare the rear ohlins to a perfect stock rear shock, the ssd elka is a whole different shock in the rear, sometimes to ride open desert i will swap out my rear elka for my valved stocker just to raise my bike for fast open riding, the ssd is in my mind is more of a "track" shock, but the front elkas compaired to the ohlins the ohlins as a lighter feel, again the ssd's tend to run stiff, but over fast ruts at 60mph you can sure feel the tire stick to the ground, and cornering is unsurpassed on a properly setup elka, the ohlins doesnt hug the terrain like the elka, i have works doubles on my desert shee up front, the ohlins are like if the works were built very solid and of course ohlins unlike works use the proper spring gage for rider and bike weight, i know 5 guys with works including my self and we all have the same gage spring just cranked our pre loads different..thats why i always bag on works....a heavey rider needs to crank his preload till theres no ride left
-
i would go for it the ohlins are a great shock...

you might be ok lets ask a builder?.....i went for horse power and passions port work needs the fuel to get the hp i wanted sounds like someone is going to give you a stroker yet a mild port..so 60-65 ponies on the trail verses 75-85, those extra ten ponies i feel, are there from the bottom not the top........sounds kinda like my trinity mx port it hauls ass real good but i dont feel 30 hp coming off of idle when i twist the throttle like i do with my stroker -
I sold my ohlins and went to elka's, you cant beat the SSD design, the ride height makes your bike a slot car......

Would Changing Gear Sizes On My Shee Help
Blue Duece replied to sandbanshee1818's topic in General Banshee Discussion
14/38 for him would be the same as 15/41 for you......i can pull 22's with a 15 up front no problem, with just bolt on stuff......the 13 is good for sand hills though, most 2 cycles do want to bog unless you rev them, its the nature of the beast...... -
yeah night ive run him top end too if im geared the same he's right on my ass, i have a shee with just bolt ons, geared 15/41 and we tie, but if he gets the jump he wins.....my stroker geared the same he's right on my ass..when i gear up im a ghost and he cant stay near me.....

in my opinion the adjustables are worth it, its nice being able to set your rebound so you dont chatter over rough stuff, alot of guys swear by them, but those guys arnt trying to do 70mph for more than a few seconds........bottoming is fine you should on the roughest part of the track, if it didnt it would ride like utter shit.......works are known for underspringing there shock tell them bastards you weigh 350 pounds and race mx, maybe they will get the gage right........ -
i dont care for those fake titties........ but id hit it just the same
