i pulled the slides out adn took some scotch brite or fine sand paper and cleaned the edge up the casting of the bottom of the slide. there was a burr and it would stick.
after clean up the slide it worked great. never had a problem since

when i had my ol 84 gmc with a some what of a shift kit, if i ran type f fluid it would get a second gear scratch but with dexron mercon it was sloppy shifting.
type f is the stuff to use
39 will give you more top end than the 14 41.
i dont know how you ride but at LS 14 41 was plenty of top end. bu tthere isnt many huge open areas out there to really wind it out.
