I have the same '02 color scheme as yours (Black/White/Silver). I really didn't like the look of the silver grill surround, and wished it was black. I got to looking at it and it really is black plastic, painted silver . I tried sanding the silver paint off, but this was taking too long so I just painted it black. I figured if the black paint peeled off, it would take the silver paint with it. So far, the black paint has remained and I am happy that I saved a few $ by not having to purchase a new grill surround.

How tight is it? Can you at least get it started on a couple teeth of the rear sprocket. Then rotate the rear axle to force the chain on.

Modifying Head Light Bezzles
mrmatt replied to Cotton eyed Joe's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I doubt it will stop those either. -
Evil, I remembered your post on the easy pull modification. I went looking for it yesterday but I couldn't find it either. I guess you must have posted it before the site changed over.

It is a nylon strap that limits downward suspension travel while the vehicle (or just one wheel) is in the air. On most vehicles, the shocks do this. But done repeatedly it will quickly destroy the shocks. Evil, excellent. I really like those types of trucks, they just aren't very practical in Indiana. I can't wait to see it in action.

I did this to mine a few months ago. It really cleans up the look.

Also....mill your stock head or buy and aftermarket head that will increase your compression ratio. This will added low end power.

I believe Boonman can lighten it for you. Unless you are a machinist I wouldn't try lightening it yourself. If you get it out of balance you'll probably destroy your crank bearings in a very short time.

T5 Silencers On Fmf Gnarly Pipies
mrmatt replied to river runner's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yes, the best sounding Banshee that I have heard had FMF Pipes for the great 'ping ping' and the raw sound of the Toomey silencers. -
I thought that 30+ hours that we are driving is going to be insane I hope that seat is comfortable. Really how bad is it riding in the sand with a shortened swingarm and paddles? If I remember right, Led actually likes it. I'm sure I won't win any races, but that won't have much to do with my swingarm. I'll only spend 10% of my time drag racing, the rest of the time I want to spend climbing the dunes and blasting through the desert. I really like the handling with the shorter swingarm and I would hate to add a longer swingarm to make 10% of my riding time better, if it is going to make the rest of the ride suffer. By the way. This thread is also going to be 22 pages long by March.

Anyone From Illinois Have A Place To Ride
mrmatt replied to Dawgler23's topic in Riding and Events Forum
The portion of the Badlands that you can ride a quad is about half woods and half sand/pea gravel hills. 1/3 of the woods is usually flooded for about 3-4 months of the year. Unfortunately this is some of the best (read: high speed) woods riding. You do not want paddle tires to ride at the Badlands. There are a few places where the sand/pea gravel is soft enough to use them, but a very significant portion of the sand is very hard packed. A few people ride there with paddles, but I would expect that it would be very easy to damage them there. There is also another 200 or so acres of the Badlands that is reserved for Jeeps and trucks. Here is their website:www.badlandsoffroad.com -
Excuses Excuses. Just through some paddles on and ride. No excuses. We are driving 30+ hours to get there. My quad isn't set up for anything. Hell, I'll still be running my shortened swingarm and my wife will be on her stock Warrior. (both with paddles of course). Evil, are you going to have the Ford there? I'd love to see it in action.

Anyone From Illinois Have A Place To Ride
mrmatt replied to Dawgler23's topic in Riding and Events Forum
Hell yea, a midwest roostfest. But I prefer to wait until fall. Hopefully by then I'll have recovered financially from the Dumont Roostfest. -
Just bring four to Dumont. I can pay you a fair price for them there. The only reason I want a set is to have spares for the Roostfest. I would hate to drive 2000 miles to California and then not be able to ride because one of those bearings gave out .

Does anyone know the part number of the bearings that are used in the Amp Link?

The filler material should be atleast as strong as the base material. You don't want to weld 60,000 psi tensile strengh chromoly with 30,000 psi mild steel wire. Otherwise your weld will become the weakest part of the fabrication. The geometry of many steel fabrications already causes the welds to be the highest stress areas, so they need to be atleast as strong as the base material. Personally I won't touch Chromoly. A couple of people have asked me to shorten their aftermarket swingarms, but I refused to do it since I do not have a tig welder. I personally feel that if the design of a component is critical enough to justify using chromoly, then it should be tig welded.

How Much Is Your Banshee Insurance?
mrmatt replied to 01bansheefox's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Right around $100 per year for full coverage through Farm Bureau Insurance. It helps that I am almost 30 and married. -
Congratulations.

Thanks for the offer, but I plan to reinstall my shortened swingarm when I get back East. Thanks for the replies. I can't see 6" of extra length in my hose. Maybe your set up is a little different leadfoot. But it sounds like +2 is a safe bet.

T5 Silencers On Fmf Gnarly Pipies
mrmatt replied to river runner's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I have heard the T-5 silencers will fit FMF Fatties, but I haven't tried it yet myself. This is what I plan to run when I get the $$$$. I assume that Fatties and Gnarlys use the same silencers, so it should work as well, but like I said, I haven't actually tried it yet. -
Anyone Up For Another Bhq Get Together?
mrmatt replied to banshee370's topic in Riding and Events Forum
spoin39 stop being so modest. We used to ride around that place and wonder who was skilled (or crazy) enough to climb those hills on a four wheeler. We've seen a few bikes go up those hills, but you guys are the first four wheelers that we have witnessed. As far as riding with us, if I had a crew cab I would say that this should be your primary plan, but since my truck is only an extended cab we are already worried about the third person being comfortable. I am almost positive that our friend is going to make the trip and it would be very uncomfortable for two people in the back seat. Another possibility is that you and fititrod ride together in your truck or car. And we could haul both of your four wheelers. If we take the tool box off of my friends 20' trailer, then we should be able to get 5 four wheelers on there easily. Just a thought in case you guys can't get hooked up with the rest of the east coast guys. Blue Duece, you'd better have a huge water heater . -
I plan to extend a swingarm for the bhq roostfest but I don't want to have to change brake lines. So how many inches can I add? Thanks
