I just had 0.030" milled off of mine. My compression went from 120 psi to 154 psi. Which is just about the compression I was wanting so that I can continue to run premium fuel.

Go to the website below and make sure that your speakers are turned on. http://load.pquinn.com/binaries/fries/

Yes there is difference between the DGs and the stock pipes. The DGs provide a smoother powerband and pull harder, longer. They seem to respond well to other mods. Plus I like the distinctive sound of the DGs. The FMFs are definately better pipes, my friend got a set off of ebay last summer for under $100 (pipes only), but they seem to be going for a bit more these days.
-
The DGs definately aren't the best pipe. But they are an improvement over stock. I run them, because I traded my stock rear tires for a set. I hope to replace them with a better set someday, but until then, I'll remain happy with the performance gain that was essentially free.

The machine shop said they weren't going to get it done until Friday.

I wasn't really in a hurry when I dropped it off on Thursday, so I told them I needed it sometime this week. But it is killing me that I can ride. I need to call them tomorrow and hurry them up.

Today wouldn't have been the best day for me anyway. I would've had to ride my wife's Warrior. I am waiting on the machine shop to finish milling my Banshee's head.

I just installed the TORS removal kit this weekend, and I agree, real easy. Rocky Mountain has the lowest price that I have seen. The kit is made by Toomey and I have always had good luck dealing with Rocky Mountain. Their website is rockymountainatv.com

I wished I'd known a little earlier, or I'd be there right now. I have a couple of vacation days that I need to burn before the end of the year.

Yes, I agree. But one of the guys that I was talking to had a 1500 with the 6.0L and got about 12 mpg. From what I have heard, the 5.3 and 6.0 chevys are really good engines. Although, I have decided not to purchase this particular truck since I cannot disconnect the on-star. (Good tip gumby, I checked this with a couple of mechanics and your dead-on.) Thanks for the input, I'm going to keep looking.

Thanks for the advise, I'll definately ask for a Vehicle Inqury System report since it is at a Chevy dealership. Yea, I agree that it would be better to get one of the diesels to tow with, plus the mileage is much better with the diesels. But I'll probably only hook up a trailer once or twice a month. As long as the 6.0 liter can handle it from time to time, I'm having trouble justifying the extra cost of the diesel. The dealer wants around $26k for it, it has $37k miles and just about all of the available options. Including On-Star, which is a real hang-up for me. I hate the fact that someone is watching over me and can tell where I am at all times, how fast I am going, and so forth. The dealer said that it still tracks the vehicle even if I don't sign up for the service. If I bought the truck I would have to find a way to disconnect it. I have problems with these types of things. I do not even use the discount card at the grocery stores because the whole reason that these cards exist is to collect data on their customers. My other hang-up is the mileage. My daily commute is 40 miles round trip. My daily driver was an '88 F350 w/35" boggers. I was at the gas station every other day. That really sucked. I am surprised that the 6.0 is so much worse than the 5.3. I have talked to a lot of people at work today and the guys with the 5.3 are talking mid to upper teens and the guys with the 6.0 are talking around 12 like you said sandfool.

Tonight I test drove 2001 2500 Silverado tonight with 6.0 Liter V8. I have been wanting a PowerStroke for a long time now, but I'm just not able to shell out what they want for those. Anyway, I really like this Chevy and was wanting to hear the opinions of other 6.0 owners. I want to know if they have caused you any problems and how well they tow.

polaris336, I forgot to mention in the PM that the PRM skidplate may cause some issues. Scott and I talked about this on the phone since he is running one too, but the PRM skid plate covers the shock linkage where as most do not. I do not have any experience with the skid plate, but I figure that you will have to do a fair amount of modification to get it to work. The best way to find out is to stand your quad up and take the skidplate off and see how it will fit when moved forward two inches. I keep the relationship between the skid plate and rear axle the same. Most skid plates only need to be notched an inch or so. Boonman, that looks sweet, did you go with tapered bearings? Matt

Thanks for the input. I couldn't find any felt tips locally so I am going to order some from Eastwood tomorrow. I'll try to post some pics when I'm done.

The full skid plates sound like a cleaning nightmare. Has anyone actually cracked a case from hitting something?

BaddestBanshee, I have never heard of power pro mx pipes. Where did you get them? Do they have a website?

I took my jugs off to smooth and polish the exhaust ports, but I have a few questions before I start. Will 80 grit rolls provide a smooth enough finish or should I try to find abrasive rolls with a finer grit? Should I do anything on the intake side? I've heard that a rough finish on the intake side helps to keep the fuel suspended, but should I clean up some of the rough casting lines anyway? Thanks

My friend's brand new Banshee was the first quad that I had ever been on. I ran over my neighbor's mailbox on the back two wheels 10 minutes after getting on it. I found out two things in those 10 minutes. You can't steer with the front two wheels off of the ground, and that I had to get a Banshee.

Good, because that is the type of hills I like to climb. The compression is stock, I believe around 8.5:1. I'll be running an Edelbrock RPM manifold, HEI ignition, and the following camshaft: Competition Cams Xtreme Energy 4 x 4 Camshafts Specifications: * Advertised duration: 262 intake/270 exhaust * Duration at .050 in. cam lift 218 intake/226 exhaust * Gross valve lift: 514 in. intake/524 in. exhaust * Lobe separation: 111 degrees * RPM range: 1,400-5,600 I've heard a lot of good things about the Edelbrock carbs, but my personal experience has been bad. I have never run one myself. My experience is from the slack end of a tow strap. My friend had a built 355 with the Edelbrock carb and everytime he tried to yank me out of a mud hole, the jerk of the strap caused his engine to stall. I don't believe he had the off road kit in the carb. Maybe that would have helped.

I agree with fixit, the YZF450s are fast. IMO, when racing on dirt, a stock 450 and a piped Banshee are pretty even, the winner is going to be the better rider.

Beer, mud running, wrenching. Invariably if the beer is before the mud running, then the wrenching follows. So I try to hold the beer off until after the mud.

This has nothing to do with Banshees, but there are a lot of knowledgeable guys on this website that are into more than just quads. So I figured I'd ask if anyone has had experience with the Holley Truck Avenger Carburetors. I nearly have my 460 ready to drop into my F350 but I cannot decide which carburetor to use. I'll drive the truck a couple of times a week on the street, but the rest of the time it will be off road, usually in the mud but occasionally I climb steep hills. I am worried that the 'off-road capability' of the carburetor is just hype and it won't work properly when climbing hills, especially rough ones. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks
-
I've been beaten by it all, not necessarily because my Banshee is slow, but because I screwed up... like bad start or missed shift. I raced a stock YZF450s about a dozen times this weekend and I cannot believe how quick they are stock! I still had a slight hp advantage, but I had to work a lot harder to get my weight balanced to get good traction but not wheel too high. So I lost a few and won a few. I just took my jugs off to polish the exhaust ports and mill the head. Maybe next time I'll have more wins than losses. As far as shifting goes. I keep the throttle pinned and just slightly pull the clutch in to get the next gear. Is this hard on the clutch? I don't know, but it makes for a quick shift.

Definately post some in-process pics of your round carrier conversion. Boonman's looks really nice, but I think he only posted pictures of his swingarm once it was completed.

I agree for the most part. But there are a few people that receive a set amount every week or month but also get paid overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week. The overtime that they get paid is not a 1.5 times their hourly pay (because they do not have an hourly rate), but rather is based on their weekly or monthly pay. This is rare, which is why I wanted to bring this up. Because I do not think that this bill will affect very many people and I do not think that it will affect anyone that works on an hourly rate. I may be wrong, but this is the way that I understand the bill.
