  1. B370, you have email. Sign my wife and me up! We might also be joined by a friend. We plan to head out on Wednesday morning and drive through the night, hopefully getting there on Thursday afternoon. We'll camp in tents for a couple of the nights. But we are going to have to find a hotel for some decent sleep and showers at least once. We plan to head back East on Sunday morning. Hopefully getting home early enough that we can go to work on Tuesday. As far as the wife, let me just say that I am one lucky SOB. You should see her when she is not wearing the camoflage coveralls . I'm not so lucky when it comes to trailers. I do not know anybody with an enclosed trailer. I have a small trailer barely big enough for two quads that my wife and I will use. If my friend is able to make the trip then we'll probably use his 20' car trailer. I might be able to get a 16' or 18' car trailer if you guys really need one, but I can't guarantee it.
  2. According to the Jetting FAQ you should go up 1-2 sizes on the main and adjust the air screws. Here is a link to all of the jetting info you will ever need: http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/jetfaq.html
  3. Like I told Wallrat, it is only $100 plus shipping. If you live in the midwest, shipping is $10. It is $15 from either coast. I sent you a PM with my email address if you would like more information. Here is a thread that shows exactly how I shorten the swingarms: http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18347
  4. I don't know if we are going to take my wife's truck or mine, but here is a picture of both so that you can find us. I'll use an american flag on my Banshee instead of the usual orange triangle which makes me very easy to spot.
  5. I'll be 30 this year
  6. Excellent. My wife and I will get there around 11:00, but I have to do a little jetting when I first get there. Another friend will be joining us at 12:30. See you there.
  7. I use both filters with an outerwear. But I only oil the inner filter. I can usually get by with only washing the outer filter with soap and water about three times before I need to clean the inner. Most of the dirt doesn't make it to the inner filter. The problem with running both filters is that it completely fills the air box except for a small area at the back of the box. I had to actually compress the filter to put the lid back on. I figured this wasn't helping my air flow any, so I jetted up and don't use the lid anymore.
  8. I have looked and looked for a paint that matches and I haven't found an exact match yet. Most aluminum paints are a little too light an shiny, while most silvers are a little to grey and dull. The closest that I have found is Duplicolor Silver Metallic, DAL 1679, which is a little too dark.
  9. I would guess 3 hours. I would suggest taking 24 to the South West side of Logansport, then getting on 25 which will take you through Lafayette. About 8-10 miles South of Lafayette you'll want to get on 28 which will take you into Attica.
  10. I went from 120 psi to 154 psi when I had 0.030" milled off.
  11. Allright, my wife and I have been talking about this for that past two days and it might be a possiblity for us. But we need to figure some things out. I checked out the rules on the Roostfest website and am concerned about the spark arrestor requirement. Do they actually check for this? I'd hate to run run my stock pipes and I don't think I can swing the cost of the new pipes, two sets of paddle tires and all of the other expenses for the trip. I've got a couple of stock swingarms laying around that I was going to cut down then sell. But, I might just lengthen one of these for myself . But damn, 60 hours of driving . By the way fixitrod, I don't see your name on the website. Are you and spoin still trying to figure out how to get there.
  12. Nope, not in Texas, in Indiana, sorry. http://www.badlandsoffroad.com/ Well shit spoin, we ought to meet up. I didn't know anybody else on here lived that close.
  13. My wife and I are talking about heading to the Badlands on Sunday (1/11). Anybody else want to go? The current weather forecast is for cloudy skys and a high in the mid-30s.
  14. Just do it. Then ride it and see if you like it. If you don't, then you can always turn them back around. You already have the shorty valve stem don't you? I turned the front wheels around on my wife's Warrior and we wouldn't consider going back to stock now. But the Warrior is quite a bit narrower than the Banshee to start and she never gets more than three feet of air when jumping.
  15. Fixitrod, if I remember correctly, you had this problem really bad then replaced your carbs when you got sand in your choke. I figure that since you got sand in your choke, you had a leak at the choke rod seal or on the rubber tube between the carbs. This leads me to agree with those that believe a leak at the choke is causing this problem. Just my $.02.
  16. I read this thread for the first time today. It took me about 2 hours at work, my boss would be proud or would that be pissed? Anyway this sounds like an awesome trip. I checked out the drive for us and it would be 2000 miles and about 30 hours one way. I'd love to go, but I just can't afford to spend four days driving. I've been wanting to get out west and ride the dunes ever since I got my Banshee, but this won't be my year.
  17. An (ex)friend from my hometown gave me the nickname of Mr. Matt. I'm not exactly sure why. I always figured it was because I was the only one of the guys that wore slacks to work, instead of having a 'real' job. I wish I wouldn't have used it for my login name here, since the guy that gave me the nickname is no longer a friend and it sounds a little conceited. But oh well.
  18. DO NOT use all-thread that is available at your local hardware store or Home Depot. The is usually Grade 1 crap! It is less than half as strong as the original mounting hardware. It will eventually break on you. If you don't have access to a welder, then I agree with mcaf29, use a heli-coil.
  19. I provide technical support for the sales and installation of large diesel powered generators. These can be up to 3000 hp and are used in a variety of applications. Such as the main source of power for the small remote towns in northern Canada and as back-up power at hospitals and casinos.
  20. People from out of state can definately ride there. The way I understand it, is that you need to register your ATV with the state that you live in. For you that would obviously be Illinois. It costs us $30 to register in Indiana and the registration lasts for three years. 03 'shee, that signiture is hilarious!
  21. Does the axle move in the carrier, while the swingarm stays still? Or does the whole swingarm move back and forth? Either way you will probably need new bearings. Being a 2000, it is about time, if not overdue if you ride in muddy/wet conditions.
  22. I live about 7 miles from the Badlands, so we go there pretty often. We were going to head there this weekend, but it is going to be too muddy. The forecast looks like all of the mud will be frozen by next weekend. I'll post a reply here if we decide to go. Have you been to Redbird? It is a state owned OHV park between Linton and Dugger. I went earlier this year before it officially opened. It is an old coal mine that people have been riding for years. There are lots of short steep hill climbs and a few tall hills. The trails are very tight but there are a few open areas as well. Here is the website: http://www.redbirdsra.com/ Note that your quad must be registered to ride. You cannot register at the park. They will not let you ride, so if you plan to ride there you need to print the form from the website and send it in a week or so before you plan to ride.
  23. Sometimes I feel like I'm all thumbs when trying to connect the trottle cable back onto the slide. I have trouble keeping the spring compressed and out of the way. But, I found a way to do this and avoid the frustration. Before attempting to put it back together I compress the spring and put a couple of tie-wraps around it to keep it compressed. Then I put the compressed spring over the cable and hook the cable end into the slide. Then I install the keeper and cut the tie-wraps and its done.
  24. I agree with Boonman. When I bought my Banshee from the dealership there was a $300 bonus buck promotion that Yamaha was putting on. Basically I could get $300 of stuff from the dealership for free. So along with a few other things, I got an Amp Link. But I rode the Banshee for 2-3 months before putting the Amp Link on. I also questioned whether or not the Amp Link would work. So after getting used to the ride and traction (or lack there of) with the stock set up I installed the Amp Link. There definately is a difference especially on uneven ground. It hooked up better and rode a little smoother. Although there are a few negative aspects of the Amp Link. It is very noisy and not exactly a bolt on. You will have to trim the plastic case cover and spend a fair amount of time getting the rollers lined up exactly with the chain. For traction, money is better spent on good tires and/or a shorter swingarm. But if you already have good tires, then the amp link is a good next step.
