Tapatalk Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 K, Put the 14 tooth front sprocket on, still powerband is waayyyy up top. Want to bring it down for hill climbing instead of having to clutch it up all the time. Sending it in for a fine tune on the dyno next week. Dude at dealer said changing the jets will help. True? Anything else? Thanks. Quote
LS1Inferno Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 yeah if your jetting is off what rear gear and tire size? Quote

What size rear tires? Edited July 30, 2008 by pabansheematt Quote

Uhmmm... may be getting one anyway for other reasons  Not sure on gearing or tire size right now but will check it out this week and get back. Top end screamers yes, but this is so far up top it's rediculous. Almost feels like my throttle cable is fucked up or something, too long for all I know. Not a mechanic by any means but I know exactly how I want it to respond and its not even close. Quote

JasonsBanshee Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 You have top end pipes. That could be it too. Quote
Tapatalk Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Posted July 30, 2008 You have top end pipes. That could be it too. yeah I know, but would like to keep those bad boys  30 mm pwk with fast dune port if that helps anyone. Quote
pabansheematt Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 yeah I know, but would like to keep those bad boys  30 mm pwk with fast dune port if that helps anyone. It looks like you have a top end bike. ( ported, CPI's, big carbs ) I hear alot of guys around here run the pro circuit pipes. More of a midrange pipe works good on hills. Hope this helps you. I'm sure someone will trade you. My first motor was drad ported with CPI's and v-3's with a cool head 19cc's and it ran great. Never had to clutch it. Thats Y I asked your tire size. I ran 13-40 gearing with vampire tires, seemed like a good combo on the hills. Quote
RIPPEN Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 My 4mill dune port with CPI's has PLENTY of low end.. Even before with the F.A.S.T. Dune port on a stock stroke, with 35mmpwks and CPI's it ran well with decent bottom.. What kinda compression you got? RIPPEN Quote

Maybe I'll get all this info on the dyno? If so, I'll update the thread and maybe that will help you guys help me. Matt, in your videos you go thru 1st, 2nd, then hit 3rd gear and floor it up the hills. Seems like instant powerband for you (different set up/ motor and all that I know) but I'd like to get my shee somewhere atleast close to that. Right now, I'll do the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and still have to clutch up the power to climb unless I'm in the band thru 1st and 2nd and i'm not trying to climb like that, a million miles an hour. Dont get me wrong, I could live with the way it is, would just like to get some of that power a little lower for climbing. Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 you need a compression tester to check compression. a dyno is not what you need. i wouldnt waste the money on it. those arent real world conditions, so why jet for them and then take your bike somewhere else to ride?? Quote

I can have them jet for where I ride in the mountains. Atleast thats what I'm told no? Quote
shee4speed Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Is the dyno located in the mountains where you ride? Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 (edited) You need to jump down a tooth in the front if you want the hillclimbing/no clutching power. If the hills are like ours, that's what you will want to do... assuming you are running the stock front on it. That way no more clutching in 3rd. 15 bucks and the problem is solved. Everyone around here does it with the 'shees Edited July 30, 2008 by TeamRealtreeHD Quote
Tapatalk Posted July 31, 2008 Author Report Posted July 31, 2008 I went from 15 front to 14 now you say I need a 13? O.k, well, not sure whats on the back. No, the dyno is located around my house 2 hours south of where I ride but that should all be computerized/uploaded info no? Also, how will adding a +4 swinger and longer chain affect it (powerband/gearing) if at all? Thats my next move after dyno tuning. thanks again all, appreciate the help! Quote
