locogato11283 Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 dyno is a waste of money and not an accurate way to jet a bike that will be ridden 2 hours away. if you wanna waste your money then go ahead, but all youre gonna get are some wack ass hp and torque numbers and some dude jetting your bike to get the highest numbers. pabansheematt Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 I went from 15 front to 14 now you say I need a 13? O.k, well, not sure whats on the back. No, the dyno is located around my house 2 hours south of where I ride but that should all be computerized/uploaded info no? Also, how will adding a +4 swinger and longer chain affect it (powerband/gearing) if at all? Thats my next move after dyno tuning. thanks again all, appreciate the help! Hey. The +4 will have no affect on gearing. As for flying up the hills, that costs lots of money. If you have 22" tires on the back a 13 tooth front may be the ticket. As I said before with my dune port stock stroke motor I ran 13-40 gearing with 22" tires. Another issue could be weight. You might need to set her up for your weight. Tuning these bikes takes time to get it set up for you, every thing you do changes the bike. I'm always messing with gearing, I just changed to 14-39. That seems to work good for me. Quote

TeamRealtreeHD Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 (edited) You won't fly up the hills like Matt, not until you get a motor with similar ponies. But with that bike, and it looks like you have 22" on it in the rear, go with the 13 tooth in the front if you want to climb some hills with 22" tires. It makes the world of a difference. I didn 't change mine yet, but had other bikes and friends that did. That's the front you want for the coal hills with the big tires In fact, scratch that. I did have a 13 tooth on the front with my old current setup but after I did my motor thought it would push out enough to use the 14. After I get this figured out I might. The thing you have to think about is gears... what gear are you going to climb that hill in? ETC. ETC. The big hills you want to do in 3rd to have good speed, and maybe downshift towards the top, etc. A 13 tooth setup on banhsee with 22" tires is awesome with that. But depending on the power, the same results can be yielded with a 14 on the front, as in Matt's case. You don't want 2nd too short but 3rd too long, which is the case with most stock stroke banshees, regardless of portwork, with 22" tires and the 14 tooth. That is the situation on BIG hills. Smaller hills you can play around in any gearing... but to climb the big ones, you have to set her up good with 22" tires and good gearing to get the perfect speed and havea good strong 2nd gear to jump things on hills, or maneaver if need be. But you have to test it. I think I will get away with a 14 in the front after I get this pigstye I am currently in figured out, I really do. Good luck Edited July 31, 2008 by TeamRealtreeHD Quote
Animalman294 Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Not to sound like an ass or anything, but you may want to listen to Tyler "Loco". He's been doing hill climbing for a few years and knows his shit pretty good. I know there are others on here who also hill climb, so from your original post sounds like thats what you want to do. So you need to listen to the ones who actually do what you want your ride to do............Just real world advise  Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Good advise for sure... Tyler knows his stuff. But HillClimbr is a Pa boy... I think he might be shooting some coal hills like us. Straight shots on these hills are a tad different than racing to the top of those jumping hillclimbs under a timer. They will be 2 different setups. They might be running even shorter gears than us. And certainly not 22" tires most will run up here. Quote
kawiking Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 drop a tooth on the front sprocket and go from there.... if its not boggin... then its prob not rich, if its not poppin lean its prob not lean...check ur plgs. check ur pugs and drop a tooth...id wait on the dyno Quote

Exactly how i feel, Dyno doesn't prove anything going out and proving it yourself does. Quote
