can the idle kit work with jus the carb tops with out driling and tapping the holes

is anybody running there carbs like that

With the TORS removal kit. You need to drill and tap them carbs to set the idle.

honestly you can, but its stupid to do, you need to drill and tap them, its not hard im 14 and got it done, just took my time

ok thats wat i wanted to no thanks but wen u tap them how is that done i have the instructions but it doesent tell u exactly how to use tap do i put it in the drill and drill it in or what how do u use it :geek:

They make a special handle for the tap. You can get buy with putting the tap in the hole and then using a cresent wrench but I would go buy a handle. They have them at any home improvement store and maybe at a auto store. I got mine at ACE for like 4 bucks but I needed one any ways for work. DO NOT put it in a drill!!!!

Rite, to tap it with a drill you better already have the teqnique of useing a drill down and be damn good with a steady hand and a steady angel on it cause holding it at a wrong angel which is very easy to do will mess a whole bunch of shit up. That drill has to be perfectly straight in your hand and you better KNOW your not going to misjudge and that comes with alot of practice and being very carefull. I put in countless cabinets and doors, boxes,ect and I still wouldnt try it without the tap.

you can put it in a drill IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!!! but since you don't i'd suggest buying a tap driver like everyone else has stated above...

I know what I am doing and I am pretty sure I wouldn try and do that............... I would be willing to bet that method has screwed up more threads than anything else.

When you get your tap started you want to back it out a little. Basically you want to run the tap in about a full turn and then back it o half a turn. That way the shavings don't get bound up in the threads. Taps that small actually break fairly easy, and then you will play hell getting it out. If you start to feel excessive resistance, back it out and start again.

I should have stated that in my post about backing out the tap. My motto has always been 2 in 1 out.

Keep the tap lubricated and the chances of breaking the tap will be greatly minimized. Aluminum is soft and easy to tap.

 

Maybe THESE instructions are more detailed than what you have, although these do not explain actual 'tapping' procedures.

 

Sliding the end of a broom handle into the slide barrel will ensure you do not drill through the idle screw boss and hit the other side of the carburetor (be careful not to damage the little pin inside the barrel).

It's a good idea for safety to have slack in the cable, just a bit...and use the proper idle screws supplied with the kit.

 

Hate for you to be in a turn at wide open throttle and have it stick on you...
