  1. Thats a super nice swingarm DHQ. You are definatly rite about the swingers I posted needed new paint. Bushings ect. Yeah. I learned from this thread and Im glad I did. I hope other got something from it too. stop spaming to raise your postcount cowboy. I can post what ever I want and if you dont like it fuck you tooo!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Ide hold onto that built Banshee and get a GPR or Elka Steering Sabilizer and a LSR Antivibe stem. Fasst Flexx Bars will take arm pump from a 10 to a 3. That +4 swingarm is killing your handeling as far as MX or Woods riding goes. I Dont know what kind of numbers your putting out but a stock or even a -1 swingarm would be the way to go. Ask your builder what he thinks of putting a stock swingarm back on and he will tell you if you have too much power or not. If not put a few more dollars in the handeling dept and Race a few races on the Banshee. Also As you know added Compression wakes up a Banshee motor to a roar just with a NOSS Head smaller domes and a timing advance pays off in gold. 17cc domes and +7 timing advance on VP110 Octane and Lookout. 13/41 Gearing helps alot with lowend and Tire size and model play Massive roles to being fast to faster as well. If its killing you after all of that Then it would be wise to get the R. A ESR 310-330 and up built 250R Is no joke. They will smoke any Piped very mildly ported ported Banshee in a straight line. Still the Banshee is the funnest Powerband Ive ever riden. TRX250Rs will always be ready avaible the price is pretty much set on them. You have a great Banshee I would swap for a week or keep the shee thats my oppion. sorry bout the sloppy post
  3. IDK Lonestar's stuff is pretty heavy duty and comes with a lifetime warentee (Though Im not sure if they would need the original recipt to verify first hand ownership. 4130 chromoly). They do slap too high of a pricetag on their stuff but you get what you pay for and Ive never been dissatisfied. Does Wheelman have a website. Im definatly into guys who can compete with big name companys like LSR. They arent cheap and LSR does nickel and dime you on little shit like bushing sleeves other odds and ends.
  4. Im Talking about the DS650 But no doubt. If I can find a DS450XC For around a little under 4k Ide scoop it in a second. I just dident even mention that OR The KTM 525XC Because I doubt Ill be able to find either used with the kind of money I have. Even 4k is gonna be a hard number to hit and Im under a savings deadline +payments/Taxes/Mortgage/Upkeep Im sure I dont have to tell yinz. Ill probably be more in the 3500.00 range. Plus title transfer and gas money to go look at the ATV +40 bucks to give my buddie for lending me his Pick up. Theres an easy 200. It adds up quick. Too quick. EFI seems very nice but I wouldent base my choice on that factor. Its a Plus but not a 500 dollar + if you get what Im saying. I agree a Raptor could be the best big bore machine Cirtenly Lighter than the DS650. but I wouldent buy a 660 and a 700efi would probably take another oh say Wider new arms may as well shell out 400+ for standerd Elkas add another 200 For axle that over a grand That needs to be put into the SHEE. Im stumped on this one. Feedback from you guys will probably lean me twoards a cirten machine or narrow the selection. What are them Predator Owtlaws like? I kind of hate to buy one knowing the KTM is out there though. Its all about the $$$$ and condition of the bike.
  5. Im going to post this in 2 fourms . I know its not that cool but I wouldnt want a fellow HQer to miss this deal. I know the ebay seller is a member on here as well. Mabey mention your a member on ebay and try and get the discount. USED LSR -1 AND -2 SWINGARMS! http://www.ebay.com/...forcev4exp=true http://www.ebay.com/...forcev4exp=true I would Jump on the -1 LSR swinger in a second if it werent for the fact Ide have to pay an additional $250.00 to get it Boxed in reweleded added gussets to make it stronger then new for fitting my rear Elka setup dual linkage wide spring. Im getting a used 4 stroke plus rebuilding my Banshee so I need to hold on to my coins. Plus by that time Ill find something or hsve LSR Make one for me for around 900 bucks new!!!!!!!!!!!! AWSOME DEAL! If you woods XC Guys want more traction -1 would be perfect -2 would be too much traction for me but Im a 280+lbs guy. Some woods/XC Racers swear by -2 and there a great deal. Ide think -2 for MX. If you already have +2+1 arms I can see the -2 working and making one radical diffrence from the way a stock banshee handels to that setup. Its a beautiful thing.
  6. 7. Well Im tearing down the Banshee and doing a complete rebuilt from PCed frame to 4 mil wood XC Motor. This will take a good year to get every last detail done. I have 1500.00 So in two months Ill have $-3500.--4000.00 for A used for stroke. Ill look around on Craigslist. If I find a super deal Ill take it but if I wait till November Im gonna have a tough decision to make. It gonna be a 4 Ive owned 250Rs and rode 2 strokes all of my life. Im keeping the Banshee even upping it to be one of the baddest stock chassie banshees for harescrambels XC racing and general racing. Its my main bike. I want lowend grunt a manuveraable couch on wheels but one I can get wild on still . I want a solid woods bike but I dont want to have to invest stock with a few addons is good for me. Im looking at the DS650 But the weight of the bike is what is keeping me looking. Ill be on all fours by that I mean I wont be to much jumping but I will be riding with a few 450s and I dont want to drag ass. ROTAX Motor is a huge plus too. Brings me to the Raptor 700- I rode a few raptors and they arent the most comfterble machines and they stand up way too much. If all of the 700s are the same I dont think I want to gear up to ride something that may flip over on steep hillclimbs. Remember I live and ride in PA and TREVERTON is not far at all/ YFZ450- Yeah, up untill now this would have been me all time choice but I already have the Banshee and the top end race bike I want. I love it but I like comfert and the torque of the bigbore bikes as well. Ill look at any 450 if I can find a deal but if Im gonna spend 3500-4000.00 Im gonna get the best used YFZ I can find. If thats what I end up with. I will be useing the 4 stroke for general riding around woods, hillclimbs, a few groupe rides, mudding with 4x4s and if Im riding and people start weekend practice racing Ill join in. I wont take the banshee out in the snow its j ust to cold to fast. I dont see how a 4 stroke will differ. But yeah any oppions or what you would spend your money on 4 stroke ridinhg wise lemme know what you would choose. Thanks in advance. Neil
  8. Damn I hate scum like that. Words cant express how much I hate them. I feel bad for dude cause he trusted these assholes and got burnt Bigtime. Then people go on to think to bring their gun in cirten transactions and something like this happens and they end up going to jail for shooting someone whos only goal was to steal at any cost. What Goes around comes around. This is TRUTH!
  9. I love the all Yami Blue of course 2006 on that chart but I think they always came that way. My other faves would have to be. The 87 is sweet and those colors scare everybody NOT on a Banshee. 89 Is a good year. 96 red and white I was never a huge fan of the Yellow Mixes, Bumble bee Banshee, I was never a huge fan of purple either. I loved the Dull Green Blasters! I wish there were a stock Balck and Green Banshee. I heard 10HP plus more mechanicly sound crash proof but Mr. Yamaha got stingy. I wasent a fan of the White/grey/Black VS Yami Blue years. Seems that was the year a few of my friends got Warriors and Raptors in White and grey. Im Glad I got my Blue one. I would love fullbores but I would get to pissed off at every scratch. You can never go wrong with all black either. Too hard to pick just 1 style.
  10. By looks alone I would guess its a fancyer better looking VF3 Model since I see the same petals. But if these do in fact work as good as they look Ill be selling my VF3s and upgrading. I figure Ill be on whatever 4 stroke I end up getting while the Banshee is torn down and built back up peice by peice and this is gonna take a good part of a year to complete. Im gonna sit back and see what the Pro HQers say. I am exited enough to post about it. Bone stock Banshees may be some rare machines to find even after 20 years of production in the States. But piped/Upgraded Filter re jetted banshee's with better reeds, handelbars and Tires is the way a Banshee should be.
  11. Yeah or mabey dont smoke weed before doing something important. Did you reuse the gaskets to reinstall the reed cages or just forget to use them at all. If you dont have the tools or dont know how to do a leakdown test (which you should if you read this board) then atleast put soap and water around anywhere that can suck in air and melt your whole engine down. I hope you are just young an inexpirenced and you learned a lesson on thi$$$$$ Failure. Or get a 4x4 if your gonna ride in wet stuff and find a mechanic. Im sure theres plenty of people who will do your work for you I would I dont mind wrenching and getting paid for it.
  12. I wouldnt do that. Sems sketchy. If that long one bent and stripped the bolt rite off that power+weight. Cutting it and adding 2 shorter bolts could be even easyer to bend/break. I got my parts guy to get me what I need for a few dollars. I should have rode it over and showed him cause I was banging it back in and riding it. I kept forgeting. I hope this works. It doesnt look like anything besides that bolt. If its real bad how much for that carrier with both bolts rjdgriff?
  13. Hey guys, Im having huge issues with the Long Bolt that slides through the axle carrier. It is bent and stripped at the thread end. I bought what looked to be a replacement so I lined up my rear sprocket and started banging it out when all of a sudden I noticed the bolt I bought looked to be the rite length but it was a hair to wide to go in. I still have the original swingarm and carrier chopped for suspension. Mabey its a year thing.Mine is an 03. This Bolt looks about rite but it looks a little to thick. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-ATV-Banshee-Rear-Wheel-Bolt-Part-90101-12694-/250778479225?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a638fea79&vxp=mtr Can anyone help a brother out. This is killing my whole warm season. Its bent bad this time. It could ding or even wedge itself into the rear sprocket and that could lead to a whole lot of hurt. For me and SHEE!!!
  14. I would put some serious thought into a 2:1 setup with a 35PWK 38 Would probably be a bit much. I swear by mine and I know a few trail/all type riders who also wouldnt switch back.. If You say the 28s arent putting out enough I know The 2-1 setup would give you more power everywhere. For Sure. What Pipes and other mods do you have to up the power/compression on your SHEE?
  15. Oh I hear you you man. Kids cost, baby mammas cost, mortgage bills, and a hobby like the Banshee adds up quick. It took me a few years to get my Banshee as hooked up as it is. I was only dating a Girl with Kids, It still went like water. I dont have any children of my own yet. Im hopeing within the next 5-10 years. My Banshee and my Music Guitar/filming is my baby!!!1 Im saying though if you start seeing little problems start with your SHEE and you ignore them and ride a weekend it can really end up taking a month sometimes 3 to save to fix what you could have fixed as soon as the problem surfaced for 100 or less. Its good that you took the steps to nip what could ruin your engine in the butt by buying the gaskets and you will have to take a day mabey even afterwork and perhaps burn the midnight oil fixing it to make sure its mechanically sound for the weekend trip. Ive went into work tired from working on problems espically when I used to ride an LT250R (Mine would just keep on needing fixed). Its good to find the root cause of any problem and isolate it and matinence your SHEE after every weekend or every extreme race and SHEE will last as long as you want her too. No actually compresion is Highest at sea level so the higher you climb the less compression you have hence the smaller domes you can get the higher you climb. I would recomend the same setup as I have for you. 20cc domes and a +4 timing advance. It will probably Im guessing here put you at 160-165 PSI on a freshly rebuilt topend. rule of thumb is 166 PSI and above starts to call for a 50/50 Mix of 93 and 100LL Or VP110 What have you. Fix it up, make sure there are no problems. Make sure your jetting is correct for your Bike because Proper jetting is essential, If you change anything drasticly, Pipes, Airbox, Elevation, WARM and COLD weather, You will always need to rejet according to mods/conditions. A compression guage isent really called for untill you start upping the compression. Ill tell you it really makes a diffrence in the way a 40+ HP Banshee will run through the powerband when you bump your compression up. it wakes up flatspots you never even knew where there. I also believe that for every performance mod there is a counter Mod to keep reliability into play. Good luck bro, have fun on your trip, save up over the cold season and then start modding your SHEE. Most important welcome to the Addiction. There is nothing quite like it. P.S. I have a good buddy with a shop so Im pretty much taken care of unless its a specialty item in which case the sponcers on here take care of all of us members. My tip to you if you could see yourself doing this type of savings is to start an open account with whomever you choose to deal with. Most Shops and parts/Mechanics will start a PAGE with you. How it works is you send them money, they send you a recipt and keep your balance stored so when you hit your mark you can send in the last 100 or so dollars depending on the cost of the merch and get it shipped out to you direct and fast. A way quicker than trying to save up in a drawer. For me. Thats how I did it. I have 56.00 dollars of credit at the shop I buy my premix and gear oil Parts ect rite now so it will lessen the blow come MEMORIAL DAY weekend!!!1
  16. As for Milling the head .020 seems to be the most popular to be on the safe side and .030 could up your compression and need a higher octane fuel. Stock domes are 22.5ccs .030 would be like getting 19-20cc domes. all of this is based on your riding elevation how many feet above sea level you ride the less compression you have and the more you can mill or choose a smaller dome size it also has to due with what compression your getting out of each cyl. If your timing is advanced you will have more compression. A Compresion guage will tell you rite where your at. I bought mine at Autozone for $35.00 and it read as dead on as my mechanics $150.00 one. Investing in one is a wise move. They come with adaptors and you want the one that is slightly shorter than the spark plug. Screw it into one side, leave the other side as is till your ready to check it. Then you hold the throttle wide open and kick it over untill the needel in the meter stops rising, kick 20 to 30 times if nesacary. obviously the engine will be off. Here is a chart with compression Specs straight from Noss Machines website. http://nossmachine.com/banshee_heads.htm I and many other Banshee riders Choose the NOSS HEAD Over other brand coolheads based on all of the positive forward design of the NOSS HEAD and you dont need longer Cyl studs like you would for say a Pro Design coolhead. Its cheaper to get your stock head milled but the NOOS HEAD will cool your engine when it is at the point of overheating by some stats suguest 30%. Plus NOSS MACHINE Is a long time site sponcer and his coustomer service is second to none. I would call him. I believe his screenname on here is dlnoss. He walked me through the instalation process 5 times on a saturday via Phone 2 months after I purchased the head and domes. 19 to 20cc domes are most common for 1000 ft and higher for 93. Most people get a Billit timing plate and advance it +4 degrese and that really wakes up the motor. I am in PA 1250ft above sea level. I run a NOSS HEAD With 20cc domes and a Pro Design timing plate at +4 and my compression reads 155 in both jugs. That is just at the safeline for 93 octane. David Noss can explaine all of this too you. A NOSS HEAD With domes runs around the $250.00-$265.00 range. Make sure to tell him you are a HQ Member if you go with the Head rite away. Im assuming you already have tires and Pipes. Noss Head, Billit Impeller, And Billit timing plate are the best mods to do next and you will outrun most piped 450s 660s and 700s!! Reeds are a great addition too but all of that adds up. I put my impeller in last cause I trusted the NOSS HEAD would keep the stock Plastic Impeller from melting and I was rite. .
  17. Like stated above, oil that has been ran for hours upon hours due to neglect by the owner will break down to near black water almost, and can often have a milky look to it from shavings and condensation, Change the oil you have in there now and. Run 1.5 quarts of BELRAY GEAR SAVER 10W30. Run it hard for 4 to 5 hours of ride time. If it still has a milky consistency to it then yeah it would be time to remedy the problem starting by changing all your gaskets. If you go and change your water pump Seal It would be a great Idea to Buy a Billit Impeller, all of the seals, and a new Pancake bearing. \\ Also When you take the Head off to change the head gasket you could either get the stock head milled and cut to replace the stock head gasket with O-Rings Or the best Idea would be To Invest in a NOSS HEAD Smaller domes get an EZ Drain coolant plate while your at it too its not much coin and doing all of this will ensure a much cooler and reliable motor. http://nossmachine.com/banshee_heads.htm with the added Bonus of more Compression to wake up flat spots while your running through the powerband. A Billit timing Plate would be a wise purchase to compliment the extra compression from the smaller size domes. If you have it get Boyesen reeds that replace the stock reeds while useing the stock reed cages or Better yet V FORCE 3 Reed Valve System for increased throttle responce while you are doing all of this. Labor will take you the better part of the morning and afternoon but if you do all of this you will feel like you have a new Machine the next riding day.
  18. Oh no doubt. A WoodsBuggy would be the shit. It could be a killer learning project but my fab skills are as rated by me 1 to 10 scale 1 being a shitty fabricator 10 being one of the greats Ide rate my self a -10. Shit Ive never even tried mig/tig welding but like once or twice in highschool motor shop and that doesnt count. If I could find a frame already setup It would catch my intrest bigtime. I am good friends with a great fab guy who did some work on my Banshee that could beef upanything asfar as strength and safety goes. Or customizing it to fit a diffrent motor in. Money is the deciding factor and it just seems to pricey + I really dont want to add another project onto my 5 year goal projects and commitments!!!!!! As for buying a wrecked GSXR and putting the motor in, Sure that would be fine. Espically since I have a main fram for the motor that looks to be factory fresh. I just cant find anything that would be worth putting money into and forget the time it would take putting it all together without takeing a huge Loss. Even if I ate what I paid for the motor/frame and misc items I have now I cant see it not winding up into a finantial loss. I dont ride crotchrockets either. Only Harleys/Choppers or any of the jap Motorcycles. Man do I wish someone on here could use it. Someone has to be close to Pittsburgh/Venango County that would scoop this stuff. Ill let it all go or trade it for a fraction of what its worth plus I might be able to pull up 6-800+ to add to a trade.. That motor is heavy as hell though so shipping it wouldent really be worth it unless theres cheap freight shipping IDK about. I want another 4 wheeler for my Sister/Cousins. Ive been trying to trade for weeks now and I keep getting stiffed by tweens on Cslist.
  19. I appricate the honosty and I wouldent think of touching My SHEE to put a Gixxer Motor in. It wouldent be a Banshee anymore thats for sure. Like I said Im at a loss with this thing, I was thinking of talking to a welder and getting him to Fab up some kind of Creation with the Gixxer Main frame and an ATV frame, DS650/Raptor? Then just having a straight line bike for kicks. Im not gonna put any kind of thousands into it either. The motor is heavy as a 200lb hoe and it would be tricky getting it ballanced and have a strong enough frame for me to be comfterble riding it. Those points have been stated here and Ive thought about them as well. I could give two shits if it looks like a 1 toothed hillbilly creation, as long as it moves and is fun and fast. What about a Go Kart/Buggy? I think if I could find a Strong Chassie to put it in that would be fun and fast enough. Ide love to sell it but theres no papers. I know who owned the bike but I lost his info. I would trade up in a minute but noone seems to want it. I dont ride street bikes so Im not putting money into building it from scratch. Ill figure something out but any advice is much appricated. Thank You, Neil
  20. I got my hands on a good 06 gsxr 600 motor +wireing harness complete with everything I need a gas tank with fuel pump for EFI, Stock exhuast. I also have the 06 Gsxr Main frame perfect condition. Here is the problem. I have no clue what to do with this stuff. Its not going for the $$$ I want for it so Im thinking drag bike. With the frame running motor and fuel tank where would be the best place to start building this Monster?
  21. Im in Pittsburgh too. I have land and I know the best builders for that type of motor around up in venango county. I could have them give it a look over. They wont sugarcoat it. They will tell it like it is even if you have your mind up on sending it somewhere Ide get a pro oppion and a tape recorder if you dont speak the language so you can have whoever is gonna take it on to give you a good idea of what you looking at. I have heard good and bad about Trinity so it worth a look. Im going up to get my mechanic to go over a buggy project Im going over so Ill be a while but if you wanna stop up its cool by me. I know the perfect guy (same guy Im going to) and if he says he doesnt wanna do it. Then you may have overbought $hit.
  22. Guess that answers my question. Loco's the man dawg. It aint bragin if you can back it up. BTW The Kenny Powers AV. FUCKING PRICELESS!!!!!
  23. Whhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!! That bike is so fuckin sick. Is that yours dude?
  24. I agree, Ive been in some hairy, rocky roots stickin out, rutted washed out trails and hills and I find the Razr2s 20" make it eayser to get out of tough spots and they ride better. 22" are just too much, they slow you down in the longrun and the sidewalls will flex and unseat. Its not worth it. I have a full set of PRM skids but I only run the piece that goes directly underneath the frame with the hole in the middel for easy access to change your oil. It saves weight and like stated above Ide rather bend a rotor or dent my swingarm than get stuck up a steep monster hill. You want some extra power, Milled head or Noss Head with 20cc domes and +4 timing advance, good reeds for throttle responce and obviously pipes but if your on a budget skip or go light on the extra power mods cause what your really looking for in woods/trail riding is a good handeling bike which with some money can be achieved with the Banshee. First Tires, then suspension,Then Fasst Flexx bars if you can afford them, an easy pull clutch lever and motion pro cabel, +2+1 AArms give the SHEE better geometry an extended axle, Antivibe steering stem, good thick grips scotts or GPR Steering Stabilizers kick ass, and you will have yourself a trail beast that is easy enough to ride with 450s without haveing to stop cause of arm pump or general fatigue. Then if you want more power PORT IT!
