pepehaha Posted August 30, 2007 Author Report Posted August 30, 2007 Give it a good whack with the rubber mallet. Not just a few taps, whack it good...with a rubber mallet you shouldn't damage it either. If you have removed the brake caliper from the rotor, and you've removed the nut that holds the hub (part highlighted), then there is nothing else to keep that hub from coming off. If you need some more leverage, mount the wheel back on the hub and use the wheel to help pull the hub off. THIS WORKS!!!THANKS 1100000000!!!!!!! Quote
bigboybanshee Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Take a screwdriver and try to wedge it between the caliper mount and the spindle and see if you can wiggle it free. Pull the caliper straight out. You should be able to get the caliper off even with the brake guard (marked with pink lines) still attached. Quote

Justintoxicated Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 LOL good read. The front can be a bitch. I can't get my hubs off either. I tried unsuccessfully twice because i wanted to powder coar my hubs. But my problem is that the factory used a whole bottle of red locktight on the allenheads for the brake disk. I got a couple out and the other would rather strip than come lose. Next attempted I heated them up with a touch, the bolts still wanted to strip out rather than come lose. Only option I guess would be to drill them out, and I decided it would not be worth it. Quote

No, not an air impact wrench. http://www.kk.org/cooltools/archives/000723.php I have always had luck with these. Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 an impact driver works great unless you've stripped the bolt's out. if there stripped use a die grinder or a dremmel with a cutting wheel to cut a slot in the bolt head then use the standard bit to remove them...those bolts that hold the rotors on are a whore, steel in aluminum usualy sucks anyway but then they put that locktite crap on em...good luck Quote

Only option I guess would be to drill them out, and I decided it would not be worth it. Everey time I did it, I heated it with an oxy-acetaline torch, and then the bolts twisted out with no force at all. They do use a ton of red lock tight on them. I didn't know you could even get them out without using a torch, I tried turning them once without any heat and they wouldn't even budge, you must have stronger forearms then I do. Quote
