'89bansheeman Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 I've had my banshee about 3mos. now. I had been having some trouble with the aftermarket air cleaner poping off. Now I powerwashed my shee yesturday and spent the rest of the day trying to get it back running right. It keeps acting like it is fouling plugs? Put new in it but it still runs bad. I also removed the carbs and cleaned them but to no avail? Wondering if it might be the coil or stator? Or if it might have sucked water to the cylinder? Any ideas? I need it for Silver Lake this weekend!!! Quote
xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 If your stator is wet it will run bad, thats if it runs at all. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 I would start by pulling the stator cover off and seeing if there's water behind it. What kind of "aftermarket air cleaner" are you running? Pull the carbs, clean them thoroughly, change plugs, and see what happens. Quote

I dont know how you could of gotten your stator wet, but its the same concept as the wiring if it gets wet, usually wont even run.. Might be a good place to look... And ya, good idea to clean carbs once ina while anywways so clean those out also. Eric Quote
bigboybanshee Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 Sometimes water can sneak pass the seal on the stator cover, it used to happen to me all the time on my trail banshee when I'd hit creeks or pressure wash it Quote

Its not the stock airbox it is an automotve type with a split snorkle that gos to the carbs. Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 Lets see the pic of this airbox? Sound weird to me.. Quote
. Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 if its fouling plugs, you probably arent getting enough air, or letting enough air out. (if its jetted correctly) Did you get the air filter wet? Try taking the air filter off and running the bike (make sure their is no debris to get into the carbs) and see if it runs better. You could of got your exhaust packing wet as well. Quote

I know.....I could not help myself, the side effects of insomnia, I guess. :wallbash: Quote

'89bansheeman Posted August 31, 2007 Author Report Posted August 31, 2007 Thats funny.Do you think this dudes parking brake is set with tors? Ya it is the tommie, the ends are uneven and it keeps popping off. I'm just gonna get a couple k&n's this weekend at David Allen raceing. And no there is no tors on my shee and no parking brake either. Twist throttle(GIT-R-DUN!!!!) Quote
. Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 (edited) I can guarantee you, you got the filter wet and thats why its running like crap. They make carb covers that you can put over the end of the carbs that will prevent water getting in there. When you go to wash your banshee I'd take the filters off, and get some baggies and rubberbands and cover the carbs up, and go to town. Or just get big enough bags to cover the whole filter Edited August 31, 2007 by . Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 If you use duct tape to cover the carburetors, remove the tape immediatley after washing. If residual fuel contacts the glue on the tape, the glue will melt and make a mess. Ask me how I know. Quote
shee rips Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 If your stator is wet it will run bad, thats if it runs at all. mine surprised me when i took the stator cover off and water poured out. it was probably half full. surprisingly it ran fine like that  Quote
