SHEE157 Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Alright boys here is my deal. First off my chain is wicked loose. good chain, O-ring purchased it about 2 months ago. cut it at 104 links, stock sprockets. However, I have the axle back as far as I can get it, and there is still too much play in the chain. Today I tried tightenin it and it just doesn't have anything left. But it was the first time I test rode it without the rear skid plate and this was the first time that the chain slipped. So I come back in the garage put it u on the jack and put the shee in gear and the rear wheels seem to be bouncing, or are out of alignment. I've also had problems with the nuts above the axle that you loosen to tighten the chain coming lose while riding. The axle spins fairly well. I don't suspect its the bearings however, there is a good chance that it could be. I'm just out of ideas on this one. I was going to cut the chain todaybut i realized that it was going to be too short. I need some help guys. Give me some ideas to try. Thanks ahead of time. Quote
peak-j Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Shorten your chain up a little more if it is adjusted all the way back. Put a little loctite on the nuts if they are backing off. Quote

So i pushd the axle all the way forward, and I would have to cut two links out of the chain and because it is an oring chain. thanks for the loctite idea though. Quote
doorslammer Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 hey i had the same problem with my o ring chain it was too long but than not long enough, i picked one of these up from yamaha not designed for the banshee for $15 aussie dollars, it shabby but it does the job and yer theres wire holding the spring on Quote
SHEE157 Posted July 12, 2007 Author Report Posted July 12, 2007 Thanks man i'll look into that chain tensioner. Now if I could get some help on the alignment issue in the back that would be great help. Thanks, Quote
bigboybanshee Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 I don't really think you can "align" the rear end. If it's crooked it could be a few things causing it. Sloppy pivot bearings, bent swingarm, bent axle, carrier isn't adjusted perfectly straight, sloppy carrier bearings. Can you look at it and tell it's crooked or is it only when you ride it that you notice it? Since you said it was bouncing, my vote goes for a bent axle  Quote
wood Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 are the wheels bouncing when you are riding, how much air pressure do you have in them. Quote
SHEE157 Posted July 13, 2007 Author Report Posted July 13, 2007 Air pressure is real low, around 5 psi. Everything looks straight but that is just eyeing it up. I'm gonna look in to changing a few things and we'll see what happens. Thanks for the ideas i'll let you know what's up. Quote

To be honest I have a feeling that its the carrier not being adjusted straight, I'm going to throw some new bolts in there and see what happens. I guess the carriers on these aren't the best so i'm going to see what I can do with that first. Quote
tmac20031 Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Im not sure what you could do about the chain because its kind of a fiddle-with-it type of job, but I can tell you that if the axle is misaligned then there is something wrong with the bearings inside. Youll have to open it up and check because if thats the case and you ride it like that the insides will start to grind away and you will have bigger problems. My cousins bike had that problem (its a craptor 660) and when a mechanic opened it up he had to pretty much replace everything inside. Anyways, just a heads up. Quote
tedd1 Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 I shortened mine with >THIS<. It allows you to take out one link. Quote
