Tired of my t5's rusting as i look at them, espically going to pismo all the time. Plan on getting them jet coated. They coat the inside with 2000 degree enamel, the outside a little less temp enamel. You can get them almost looking like chrome. I have heard it will help retain heat and help scavange the cylinders better? Is this true, any down sides to jet coating the pipes?

They will definatly keep the heat in but I don't know if that is necesarily a good thing. I like the fact that the pipes cool off very fast. Maybe it helps keep the motor cooler.

I checked into it for mine and for the cost of the work and shipping I could almost get new pipes. They quoted me $100 until I sent a picture of what I wanted and they came back and said like $300 something because of them being 2 stroke pipes.

Have you tried wood stove paint on your T-5's ? stovepaint.com thay have paint that handles 1200 f

I just got a price for $150.00 to Ceramic coat the pipes and stingers in High luster silver .I just bought a used set of T-5's that were painted I planned on painting them but read alot of posts that the paint is not holding up.I have used BBQ paint on snowmobile exhaust it seemed to hold up ok.

another company is qccoatings.com They told me $200.00 for pipes and stingers. The web sight will give you an idea what it looks like anyway even thogh they were more expensive.

I got the same price quote, $150.00, from caps to jet coat the pipes. Just got the 4mil running and a few rides. Not sure if I want to switch to cpi's or not? If not, i will get them jet coated. Thought about the paint, but $150. to drop off the t'5 with all the rust, ala pismo, and they come back looking nice and give greater protection at the coast is worth it.

Here is what the polished ceramic looks like. This is not hot jets coating but the place that I help out. For the most part it's all the same, just the name of who does it. Also the shield is high temp black if you are wondering. This will dull with hotter temps but, it can be polished out with mothers or something similar. The reason they are getting so much money to do the jobis the coating inside and out, you are talking twice the surface area of the pipe. If you have any questions feel free to ask, there are many people here who have my work, and I have answered questions for.
