Well, you guys were oh-so-helpful on getting my stapped off screw out of the housing.........worked like a charm! So now Im putting it all back together and cant hold the housing tight enough without it turning to torque down. I was thinking of using a screwdriver as a wedge, but I figured that was asking for something to get jacked up. Do you need a special tool or is there another trick-of-the-trade?

Ive already seen a homemade tool made of an old steel cluth plate with a handlle welded on to it , just hold the handle and tighen the hub. Never hold it with a screwdriver the little (fingers) are very fragile.

I made a tool for the next time I go to do this... Welded a fiber plate and an inner steel clutch plate together. Locks the inner and outer hub together. He He!

get yourself a clutch holding tool or "Grabbit". they will make your life much easier and safer.

here's the one I got. paid a bit more at the dealer for it but was worth it.

Best idea I've heard, and cheap tool. While I never mind having more tools, I don't really want to have to buy one that Im never going to use.

I just took 2 pieces of angle iron, and made my own tool.

I think I read it here, use a penny in the gears. It is soft enough that it will give before the gears, but you will torue it to spec before that point. I think last time I did it I shoved a rag in the gears. You can just hold the brake and put it in gear, but that it easier with two people.

I'd just put it in gear, and if its the clutch spring bolts, I would just hand tighten it with a small closed end wrench. Those things are darn easy to snap off using a torque wrench that has a 12"+ handle.
