olmick Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Well i stuck a set of pro circuits and removed the snorkle on my bike, i jetted the carb with a 270 main and its just a hair rich, well anyways my best friend has a 02 660 raptor, We raced today and the way it seems the banshee gained maybe 2 horsepower, we were still neck and neck all through the gears and top end, this is coming from racing last week with stock pipes and today with pcs, the outcome was the exact same, I was hoping to edge him out today but i couldnt, I guess i was expecting too much with pipes and now i realize that they dont help worth a damn except me loosing some low end, I will try it again next week with a 4 degree timing advance and some k&n pods, but so far i am really dissapointed with pipes on a shee Quote
DirtyFitz Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Well tell us the mods your buddy has and we'll tell you wether or not its a legitimite enough. With just a pipe and an air filter I killed a stock 660 Raptor. Could very well be your jetting! Quote
suzuki0702 Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 i agree..even with pro circuits should of been stomped! Quote
locogato11283 Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 it should be a totally different bike. something is not right. whats your elevation? Quote
olmick Posted September 10, 2006 Author Report Posted September 10, 2006 my buddys bike has a k&n filter and that is it, nothing else. My elevation here is around 900ft above sea level, It kinda sucked buying a set of pipes and the only thing i got out of it was sound instead of performance Quote
Banshee~ Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 What are you racing on (grass, dirt, ...)? Also, what kind of tires do you have? It could be the jetting or just the rider. You will tear him apart completely with the pods and if you dont then there is something wrong. Quote
olmick Posted September 10, 2006 Author Report Posted September 10, 2006 (edited) the only place we ever race is on pavement, i still have stock dunlops on it thats pretty wore down, i did get one win last night and it was from a dig, i raced my old 400ex and he did get toasted lol, im really hoping the pods and the timing advance will help because i have some more races lined up for next weekend, oh yeah i couldnt of fucked up on shifting every race because we raced a shitload of times, im just trying to figure out how to toast that raptor like i did that 400ex lol Edited September 10, 2006 by olmick Quote
tonyown Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 When I bought my used Fmf fatty's I seen a big difference in power... maybe is it the procircuit that suck? I never tryed them and never heard anything of them all I know is that they make a lot more song than my fmf... with my fmf and pro design air filter I was near to beat a raptor 700 efi... I suppose the 660's easy to beat so... Question's there for people who know pipes... are the pc pipes good or do they make more song than power? Quote
Handyman Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 (edited) When I first bought my banshee it had the PC pipes with the 304 factory sound silencers., K&N filter pods and a 280 main, otherwise the bike was entirely stock as far as the motor goes. I had the OEM tires on it and I raced my roomate on his 660 on pavement. His mod was a K&N air filter with the lid removed and he had Razr 2 tires. We are at 400ft elevation and I smoked his ass. I had never raced before and I was screwed the launch but I was able to pass him up and win by a good margin. Try moving your clip to the 4th position and dropping a 280 main and see what happens(if your motor is stock that is. I know for a fact that something is wrong wioth your bike if you noticed no difference. If you are that disappointed with your pipes sell them to me and I'll use them Edited September 10, 2006 by Handyman Quote
G-MC Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 It kinda sucked buying a set of pipes and the only thing i got out of it was sound instead of performance I've never had any complaints on my old PC's. There's gotta be something more to it. (carb, etc...) If you don't like them, shoot me a price. Quote
race-a-holic Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 A friend of mine had a banshee with pro-curcuits and it run real good. Once you get the pods and jet it richer,it should run away from the raptor. I've always had good luck with toomey needles.Maybe something to consider. I'd use the longer needle and jet it richer. rocketboy Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 be disappointed in your jetting ...not the pipes .that should be a huge improvment ,pc pipes are really good pipes IMO Quote
NYUK Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 pc pipes jetted correctly make almost the same peak hp as t5`s, just a smoother hit. spend a lil loot on some portwork, jet it correctly, all doubt will be removed. Quote
DaFish Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 i have a set of brand new toomey needles used for 10 mins ill sell you 35 shipped brand new they are 50 not shipped. not bent either, trinity fuck me over. Quote
Animalman294 Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 Ya, I heard they were a lot like the T-5's, which is what I run now and I have really like them. I may go with a different set of pipes later, but for now this is what I got. Most aftermarket pipes will add a good bump to the seat of your pants feel, so if you didn't notice a difference, start looking for problems.............. Quote
