Dmcbanshee Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 I run my banshee 10% pump gaz ,90% water and I gain 12.567 hp on the dyno.... Quote
mnduner Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 first diesels need like 400-450 psi compression take the head off the banshee and cut like 1/2 inch off the bottom. (hacksaw works great). since you want high compression dont use a gasket and tighten the nuts untill they start to get a little loose again. second diesels dont need spark plugs so take them out and run fuel lines to the plug holes. dont use anything big like 7/16 i.d. should be about right fuel flow. then you need to take your carbs and drill holes in the slide cause diesels dont need a throttle to close off airflow they just suck in however much they need. and your set. i did this on my shee and its got lots of torq like a diesel but it doesnt rev as high so its good for trails. like someone said earlier you will need to pull start it behind a car Quote
tithead Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 night... do you lice in germany???? just taking a guess from your sig. Quote
jakehopt Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 night... do you lice in germany???? just taking a guess from your sig. I doubt he does, I'm sure he wishes to be cool, indeed if he does though, it's a sad day for all those who were born and live there... I was born in Bramerhaven, and will kill myself if I find out he was native to my homeland. Quote
Dinner Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 Diesel fuel fires under compression, it take alot of compression to ignite it, 16 to 1 - 22-1. Diesel is injected in the cylinder right before top dead center. The banshee motor could not handle this kind of compression, crank, piston would let go quick. Just my .02. Good luck to you, you could try it and give us some ideas. :thumb: first diesels need like 400-450 psi compression take the head off the banshee and cut like 1/2 inch off the bottom. Its basic Diesel knowledge :shoothead: Did you know that when your EGT gets really high(make sure its over like 1500 continously) in a turbo diesel it will actually allow the turbo to spool a hell of a lot better, so it will give you more power Night? squish Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 Diesel would work. I was part of a project that was looking for an alternative to current drone engines in 1994. Military wanted a more fuel efficient engine. We machined a head that only left .0015 gap between piston and head. The head had an adjustable piston in it that could advance and retard timing. No spark plug but timing needed adjusting every time after start. Once warmed up timing could be advanced back for max rpm. The main problem with this was the fuel. Pump diesel had to be mixed with nitro. Actually same stuff r/c cars use more up around 35% range. I remember kerosene and jp-4 to work best. Barometric pressure and Outside temp played a big role in specific gravity on fuel mixing so end result was a pain in the ass for coming up with the right fuel for the motor for that day. Quote
tithead Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 on topic.... does anyone think it would be possable to convert the banshee motor to run on gas (lpg... I think?) alot of cars petrol and deisel, are getting converted over here because gas costs next to nothing complared to petrol or deisel. it could be alot more complicaited with 2 strokes though. i would have a guess at the shee starting on its normal fuel and then switching to gas from a nitros kind of set up... on a bigger scale. may be good for drags if not anything else  Quote
