Is there a cool head available for the RZ350 engine?

Any info would be great.

Pro Design sells one for $230 not including domes I believe. I just looked not too long ago because I just picked up an RZ350 top end and was in the market as well. I was interested to see who else might make one. I know NOSS Machine sells good heads but I am not sure if he sells heads for the RZ350 jugs. I would like some color choices! Maybe someone will know?

I didn't know PD still made it, that would have given me an option. I had one built by Sandtrix, but blank domes were almost impossible to come by.

Noss does not build one, even after alot of begging.

I know Pro Design HAS made them, whether or not they still do I'm not sure, had an old link and it's not working anymore...I would definitely be down for one if they were available from anyone, Just being able to replace the domes without replacing the whole head would be great, I'm sure I'll trash mine one of these days and sooner or later they will be real scarce...

I've been thinking of making one as a CNC project using pro-design domes. I'm assuming the rz and banshees have the same dome structure though.

Yes they do, actually there's two different styles of RZ heads, one has a smaller "pocket" than the other that looks just like a Banshee combustion chamber (I didn't find that out until I sent my head to Dan...after I polished it, now it's hangin' on the garage wall). Anyway I've got one of those heads with the small pocket, I'd be more than happy to send it to ya for the project, let me know!!!

just have theRZ head milled and rechambered ,i dont see wh y everyone thinks they need a coolhead

to raise their static compression ,once the bike is up to tempeture they dont cool any better than stock does . dont waste your money IMO .

When I was looking into having my stock Banshee head cut for domes. Andy at Grand River Racing mentioned he could cut RZ heads for dome also. I don't know if he still does of not. It may be a option though. Try this number 1-616-642-6186 during bussines hrs, or leave a message and he will get back to you.

Have you priced an OEM RZ head lately?? I don't even know if you can get 'em anymore from Yamaha, if so I'm sure they want yer firstborn. It's got nothing to do with cooling, just the fact that when (for me it's not "if" heh) something lets go, finding a replacement head can be a bitch. Eventually RZ heads on ebay are gonna dry up, if I could just swap PD domes not only would I be able to replace just the dome that's fucked up in the event of a failure, I could change my domes out for high elevation races without getting a whole different head...or run pump gas at the dunes and bump the compression way up and use race gas for races. It's the replacable domes man, the dooooooooomes  Plus if it's o-ringed you can re-use the o-rings instead of buying a new head gasket.

Thanks itsaripper, I'll give him a call one of these days and see what it would cost, I'm sure somebody can mod the stocker...

I'm trying to remember the differences between the RZ and the Banshee heads. The thermostat and coolant inlet/outlet....I think I remember the water jackets being different.

What are the differences?

The RZ head is a bit taller and has more water capacity than the shee head. Also, the RZ has the thermostat hole. The front stud on both cylinders is farther forward then the shees leading to a larger water jacket on the front of the cylinder, this the heads are not compatible.

If I could get a coolhead I would get one in a heart beat. I have already had my RZ head cut twice and it is somewhere around .035. With this cut I still have .050 squish. It would be great to have replaceable domes so I can get my compression higher.

I just called Pro-Design and they do make RZ heads and domes. They are the same price as the banshee head. Mines on order!!
