  1. I don't like using the kn filters in the dunes. Looks like uni only sells an 1 3/4" or 2". I've stretched a toomey 2 into 1 to fit, going to try to stretch the 1 3/4 to fit.
  2. I'm need to buy new uni pod filters, the quads in storage. Anyone know what size will fit?
  3. The bottom arm is .125 sides 14 gauge top and bottom, the top arm is all 14 gauge. I think LSR sells replacement yfz press in spindle shafts.
  4. You could also make them out of sheet metal.
  5. Costa Mesa here. Ive got a Cabin out in Landers. Tons of riding in the area, Johnson Valley, Jashua Tree, 29 palms can get up to Big Bear. Try to get to Glamis at least once a year.
  6. I handles real good as compared to my old 87 shee. TCS rebuilt the rear shock, it was a little stiff when I put it back on. I just softened the compression and upped the rebound alittle and it seems pretty nice now. Cant wait to get it to the dunes.
  7. Design everything before you get shocks. You will need to send the shock builder a drawing showing the geometry of your suspension design in order for them to make the correct shock for your application. Elka faxed me a paper with a basic front suspension diagram. You just fill in the blanks for the needed measurements and fax it back.
  8. I'm legal now. Brought to CHP, they put a VIN on the frame. Went back to the DMV finished the paperwork got a GREEN sticker. Will get a Title in the mail. Total cost $29.
  9. the banshee is almost like the volkswagen beetle of atvs. parts supply will probably last for years.
  10. I made it out of a 6x1.5 round peice of aluminum on a lathe. Drilled the holes with a mill. Made another peice which was welded on. I'll post a pic when I get a chance. The hardest part was making the lathe tool to cut the radius. In the end you'll wish you had just spent the $150 for the JD2 die. Thats were I make all my stuff, at the local community college.
  11. I used 1x.065 4130. I had to use some .083 mild steel for two bends, couldn't get a 90 degree bend without a bad kink with the chromoly. The kinking problem is my die I think, I made it myself. I'm thinking I didn't cut the radius deep enough. With the right die and alittle bit of heat there should be no problems.
  12. Bender is a JD2 model 3. Its all 1in tube.
  13. Got the pipes back, ceramic coated. I think I'm done for now. Going to the dmv to get a VIN and registration this week. Gonna try to bring it out this weekend, gotta get my buddies interested in going. With my old one.
  14. Went this afternoon. Same as last year everyones in the same spot. The rails all look the same after awhile. There is quad stuff to buy. Picked up some trail tech mr16 HIDs. I might go back tomorrow to get some paddle tires, $180rear $130front doesnt seem bad.
  15. Very nice. I maybe getting one in the future. Looks like they didn't drill/tap a hole for the temp sender though.
  16. These were the final touch, thanks for the heads up.
  17. They were dirty. Just washed with some simple green and they look brand new.
  18. I just got some front race cuts for $35 new. I had to slot some of the holes to make it fit. They look good, I'd be alittle mad if I spent full price. Maier is the crappiest IMO.
  19. My contract is up in november, I might give it a try. They are indian givers though, the free mobile to mobile and 5% off monthly bill I got last time will be taken away and reoffered with a new contract I bet.
  20. I didn't keep the jigs together. I built it all from scratch no drawings. All I used was a bandsaw and a sander to cut and prep all the pieces. The bottoms were easy. The uppers I wouldn't want to do again, they were a bitch to make. The way to do it would be draw it all up on CAD and get the pieces laser cut.
  21. Still not completely finished. Pipes still need to be coated and just ordered a new front fender. Gotta get the rear shock rebuilt some day too. The rz motor is nice and smooth. My 87 is ready to sell.
  22. Picked the maier silver fronts up for $35. Not a maier fan but the radiator cover isnt bad, it fits and its glossy. Just a $35 gamble.
  23. who makes, where to buy? Besides the occasional ebay auction. Does anyone make just a replacement boot for 38mm carbs.
