I hear that....

Its one thing to have a engine built by someone... But for most anything else its so damn easy you shouldn't NEED a "mechanic"... Especialy seeing how your on the HQ!!! We want to help you get your bike together so you can ride... He wants to look into your pocket and doesn't give a rats ass if you ride or not.. That being said, whats the "problems" your bike is having????

This makes no sense to me. What all did the mechanic say was wrong with your quad? If the engine is blown, you rebuild it. If the electrical is shot, you replace it. If the frame is bent, you replace it. The same goes with everything else. Fix it or repair it. What this guy may be saying to you is that the amount of money that he would charge you is not worth it. But even if say, you needed 75% of what is on your quad replaced, think about the understanding you would have of your machine when all is said and done.

Dont know if I missed it but what exactly is wrong? If I was told what was wrong with it by him saying only it was fubar, I would be like wtf is wrong then. With so many aftermarket parts and stock parts that can be picked up for so cheap its hard to believe the whole thing is screwed. Even if its something like the crank, a OEM trued and welded one can be had off ebay for $350. I learned this lesson the hardway but its better to work on your own stuff.

I bought 1k in new parts for my Banshee then paid a "mechanic" $470 for labor to have it blow up with no more than about 30-40 minutes of ride time. So now it sits blown in the garage until I can get more money for another top end and get it back together. I will be doing all the work this time myself. I've never done it myself but between common sense, a Clymer's manual and Bansheehq.com and planetsand.com what really could go wrong?

Damn skippy, there isn't a quad on the planet that has as many parts available for it or as easy to fix as a Banshee.

From here on out the HQ will be your mechanic, with a little help a chimp could fix these things.

I was a chimp 3 years ago, now I'm more than happy (as I'm sure everyone here is) to help.

Bring on your broken toy, we'll have back on the trails in no time!

I think your maechanic just wants to buy your bike for cheap

that's what i was thinking too. besides, $500 worth of repair is hardly enough to call it fubar unless it is a real piece of shit to begin with. that's considered normal wear and tear costs for most guys. c'mon bud, what's the deal? what is supposedly wrong with your ride?
