Ok, so my buddy wanted to run a 38mm carb on his warrior he is building and he did not want to spend a lot of $ so I told him to go to one of the local dealers whom also sells used parts. We get there he tells him what he needs and the worker hands him a 38 mm Mikuni Carb, the only thing is the carb is off and 85 Kawasaki Tecate! I said hold on man thats from a 2 stroke but he goes on and asks me if I am testing his knowledge  Any way what I want to know is is that possible!

I don't see why the carb would not work. In fact it will most likely work better. 4-stroke carbs are the CV style (slide is actuated by vaccum), where on a 2-stroke the slides are hooked right to the throttle cable. I am not sure if this is alwasy the case, but I know Warrier carbs are that way, so the new carb shoudl be better. Just will need a new cable most likely.

a carb is not a carb. there are differences. when ur buddy asked for a 38mm he should have looked for something like an FCR. the two stroke carbs have different designs.

not true. some are some arent. the carb on a CRF 450R is hooked right to the cable. it has to do with the carb, and nothing to do with what stroke motor it is. a sportman 400 will have the vacuum type carb, but will a TRX400? no. they are both four strokes but for totally different purposes.

Yes, but the carb shoudl work just fine. True all carbs are not the same, but they all have the same function and general principles. Unless I am wrong the only reason to use a vacuum style is for emmision purposes, isn't it?

Either way why would the carb not work, it shoudl work just fine, and even better.

If I was putting a bigger carb on a warrior i would use a 39 off a 450 yamaha, 2 stroke carbs tend to act funny on 4 strokes (because of the accelerator pump)

just my 2 cents

btw if he needs a cam or a high compression piston i have an alba set up for sale

All vacume carbs [cv] do not have or use accelerator pumps. Some mechinical carbs use accelerator pumps {large mikunis, keihn, and lectron, ect}. The tecate carb might work if it was rejeted leaner on all curcits, since that tecate drank way more fuel then that warrior will.
