night Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 stock tank is 3.2, if i had to change what would be the next size(s)? Shall i put 1 gallon of gas in my back bag, is there in danger in that? Could you please mention safe places on the banshee where I can mount bottles of gas. Thanks. Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 You might be able to get a grab bar strong enough (gusset the stocker maybe) to put one of those sealed 5 gallon jugs on the rear, but then you have a weight shifting problem. More weight on the rear that usual, and then it will also slosh side to side. When gas sloshes it kind of does what a carbonated drink does. Pressure builds up in the can if it can't vent. If it vents and you roll your bike over you run the risk of fuel pouring out. You might just want to get one of those desert tanks. I think BenBB runs one. Quote
98bonerSTOCKshee Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 get a riding buddy with a utility... Quote
batoutofshell Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 get a six pack rack and you can strap 2, 1 gal cans on there Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 god i hate carrying gas pain in the ass yah u can easily strap a little gallon or 2 tank on ur grab bar but strap that shit tight ud be suprised how easy they come loose or if ur not running front plastic a tank fits right in the front of the frame seems like a better spot to me since i dont run fronts that way u can watch it and its more snuggly fit Quote
. Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 easiest way is to get a 5.5 tank. But we've tried other ways possible, and the best way to do it is to get a 2 gallon gas can and put it in your backpack. Make sure your backpack has a stomach strap or the gas is gonna bounce around more. Every time you stop you can then lighten your load. Worked for us out at hatfield-McCoy.....and if it'll work there....it'll work anywhere. Make sure you got a good sealing gas can so it doesnt leak too. Quote
night Posted April 24, 2006 Author Report Posted April 24, 2006 From where can i buy the 5.5 gal tank. and will my banshee with 5.5 look bigger at the tank area or the extension will be hidden inside the body and you won't notice it? thanks. Quote
gipperz Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 I use the six pack rack and 1.5 gal gas can, strapped down tight, but that was with my old motor, got one of those gas suckers on the way, not sure what I'm gonna do now ,maybe bigger tank?. Quote
night Posted April 24, 2006 Author Report Posted April 24, 2006 Wouldn't putting 2/3/4 gallon can on your six pack rack bring to real issues: 1. if the can leaks on your rear break light, so it ignites and boom you have an exlosion or fire. 2. you will be unbalanced so more chances for roll over especially when climbing dunes and you feel you can not make it and decide to turn and that makes you flip. Basically, maybe its kind of a recipe for desaster if not calculated properly and done wisely. Quote
Wallrat Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 For general duning you'll be fine. Only thing I'd avoid is jumping with the cans full or any really hairy moves. Also remember that ur gonna be overloading your shocks. Basically, if you're going long distances and are loading down the bike with gas cans, just cruise. NYUK Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 big tanks are on e bay. forget carrying extra gas. that would suck the fun right out of riding for me. bigwill runs a couple of those huge tanks on his banshees. Quote
BenBB Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 get a riding buddy with a utility... 506869 EXACTLY!! Along with cold refreshments. And babes. I'd give my left nut to have my girlfriend cruisin' a Rhino when we go out...I can see it now, I'd have that beast loaded with fuel, ice chests, a grill, an ez-up, some lawn chairs, and a 1000W stereo... Then when the kids aren't around throw down a blanket or bend her over on the hood hahaha easiest way is to get a 5.5 tank 506904 Yep that's what I run, it's the only way to fly on long distance rides/races. Blow through the pits without getting fuel. Yes the 5.5 when full is heavy as fuck but the longer ya ride the lighter it gets heh. I was surprised that it doesn't "feel" big when you're riding, first time out I didn't even notice any difference, it's not really any wider than the stocker. IMS also makes a 4 gallon tank, but it's only marginally bigger, I'd go for the fiver, and given the choice the Clarke looks better IMHO. Quote
ghostryder420 Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 Do the larger gas tanks affect steering or control at all? When its weighed down with all the fuel from a 5 gallon tank, can you really feel the difference on the bike or what? Quote
. Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 you kind of do the tiniest little bit, but nothing like you would imagine you feel it there. After riding a few times with it you dont even notice. It's just that first time it feels like a little extra weight (nothing dramatic) up where the front of your seat is. big tanks are on e bay. forget carrying extra gas. that would suck the fun right out of riding for me. bigwill runs a couple of those huge tanks on his banshees. 506937 It's not really that bad actually carrying a 2 gallon on your back. I agree the big tank is the way to go, but when you head out with a bunch of 4pokes that can run for hours and hours and dont have an oversized tank You cant run quite as hardcore as you would without the can on your back, but as soon as its half gone you dont even notice it anymore. Thats what I'd do if you cant afford a 5.5 tank yet. Quote
