I am 41 and have had the same fear for many years used to keep me up at night,cold sweats all the same symptoms as you describe. Take the stock filter out saw off the cage part there plenty enough left to mount the filter then drill 2 holes thru the top of the white plastic part and and the airbox attach it to the inside of the airbox. same setup as a proflow with the cash expense.
