bansheezer Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 i just bought a new toomey exhaust kit with the 2:1 air filer box replacement and now i don't know where to mount the antifreeze reservoir, anybody else with this kit please let me know how you did it, thanx Quote
hittintrees srh Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 ya dont really even need it just look at the ground every once and a while to see if your overheating. but if you feel you still want to use it, trinity sells a kit that moves it to the front of your shee Quote
bansheezer Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 what do u mean look at the ground, im not sure what u mean Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Several companies make a bracket, that bolts to the frame, where the back of the air box was. The coolant bottle mounts to it, just like it did on the back of the air box. Quote
steveodo Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 he means to see if your banshee is leaking antifreeze out the lines you cut to to remove the collent bottle. I bought coolent bottle a relocater from world class motersports , I belive about 25 bucks Quote
digger Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 u dont need the bottle its just an over flow and its not a recerculating system.... its just there for environmental reasons. just re-rout u'r hose from the top of the rad by the cap to where the 2 other vet tubes are in front of the swing arm under heath the carbs. u will have to cut some off and if u are over heating just look under the bike to see if its over heating (see if anti freeze is dripping out) u will be re filiing u'r rad after u flip the lower rad hose around (if u got the t6's) so if u fill it too full it will drip out untill the level gets to where its suposed to be. bansheezer Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 thanx alot guys for your help Quote
carter71 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 (edited) WRONG!!! Don't listen to them, You can run without and maybe you won't have a problem. My riding partner took his bottle off and was always overheating. He put it back on and has not had a problem since. When your bike heats up it will push water into the bottle, Then when it cools down it will suck that water back to the radiator, the result is that your radiator is always full to the top with coolant. Air in your radiator is a no no. Don't beleive me? Ask your local radiator shop about it. All modern cars have a recovery system for a reason. Edited April 18, 2006 by carter71 Quote
Malott 1 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 You don't need it. Just cut the recovery hose so it will hang right over the front part of your engine so if it overheats it will hit the pipes and you will see the steam. We ride our dune bikes all day long with no problems at all. Engine ice and proper jetting and you should be fine. Quote
carter71 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Keep it, and never have a problem, Take it off and hope you don't. Your call!!! Quote
Slayer1018 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 The mechanic at my local Yamaha Shop built me a bracket... works good... Quote
Banshee~ Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 I took mine off and just check the coolent level in the radiator every other ride. Some times I add a little bit, but I havent had it overheat once since I took it off. Things that will help cool your banshee better 1.engine ice 2.mega flow water impeller 3.noss cool head 4.bigger radiator Quote
locogato11283 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 the trash can is a really good place for those over flows... Quote
carter71 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 It's called a coolant RECOVERY bottle , an overflow bottle only catches the overflow. If your stock banshee only had an overflow bottle it would not go back to the radiator when it cooled off. Ever notice that with a coolant recovery bottle your radiator was always full to the cap. No air in the system. Water cools your bike. Not air. Most of you have said you aren't using your bottle. Thats your call. Me, I know I'll never have a heating problem. I won't have to hang my hose over the pipes to "watch for the steam" Quote
Samdogmx Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 i bought a pc of aluminum from lowes & made my own braket. Quote
