Yeah I hear ya. I'm not one to tell people their beliefs are wrong. I'll disagree, but that's as far as it goes. Well...I take that back. Soon as somebody starts telling me that I'm going to hell then I'll have a little fun. Truth be told, I've actually secured myself a position in upper management.

 

But really when it comes down to it, we each have our own beliefs, and no matter what the other guy says its not going to shake our faith.

Do you realize that christianity is only one religion out of thousands right? There we're literally thousands upon thousands of Gods worshipped throughout history. As to God being vengeful, vain and incompetent what are you refering to? God is just, righteous merciful and all powerful.

 

Have you ever read the Bible. Even a book of the Bible. And I don't mean you pick it up gloss over a couple versus but actually read any part of it? I am not throwing stones or trying to pick a fight I am just curious.

 

Unfortunately most Christians havent even read the whole Bible or even parts of it. They themselves don't understand the Word of God. Most of the time people who say it just a story book have never read it or even a part of it so I am just curious as to what you are basing your beliefs on.

I've read more of the bible than most christians

 

I've also enjoyed other mythologies as well (Norse is prolly my favorite)

 

I'd have to say that my favorite religions are the god-less ones. The whole "supreme being" thing tends to further warp those that were already pretty unstable. That's where you get your "God told me to kill those children" types. I mean, it works still, but you don't find alot of homicidal Taoists.

ask yourself when the last time a giant catastrphic massive explosian has created anything . ask yourself how a plant that relys on photosynthesis (which is an extremly complex system)to get energy/live could have ever lived without it . ask yourself how a plant or animal that is exclusivley dependant on another could ever live without it ,or why everything in life happens in cycles and is not changing .or why we have not evolved into suprehumans by now or why we still have apes on earth.why this mutation supposedly happend billions of times and yet we have not one example of it through out history .even a small child can see we are nothing like monkeys .evolution totally disproves itself scientificly over and over again and supposed educated people eat that shit right up . Albert Einstein and the top quantam physiicts said it is impossible to have al l these elements come together sporaticly and law of relativty work and albert also became a devoted christian in his later years ,if its good enough for the smartest man to have ever walked on earth (that we know of ) ,it is good enough for me .

well lemme tel ya, ya see the STORIES that make up the bible, were written so far back in time, and have been re-told thousands of time, do you actuaLLY THINK THE STRORIES PRINTED are accurate??? LOL

and back then people didnt know what things like a volcano were, so when it erupted, all of a sudden, its a god,,, gods were created by man, as a way to explain things,

 

and as far as how we were created,, who knows,, bUT for those who say a "god" did it,, well then WHO CREATED THAT GOD??

So how old is the earth? Like 4.5 BILLION years old? And recorded history? Maybe 32,000 years (if you're counting cave drawings). So lets see, we've got a human record for about 0.0007% of the life of the planet. I doubt cavemen were very in-tune to noticing evolutionary changes, so really we've only been looking for evidence of evolution for about 0.000003% of that time. Damn, we must have missed it! If you wanna do the math, that'd be like spending 0.93 seconds of a 90 year life span looking for something. I can't even find my car keys ONCE in 0.93 seconds, so I guess my car keys don't exsist either!

 

Actually, science has created something from nothing. I'll spare the details, but basically this russian dude finds these weird volcanic rocks. Well they're weird cuz they cooled back when the earth's atmosphere was very similar to that of Venus, so all the elements in the atmosphere got trapped in the rocks as they cooled (BTW first time it rained it was raining ammonia). So this other dude is kinda curious so he takes all these normal elements and puts em in a big chamber and starts zapping it w/ electrodes to simulate lightning. Ends up with some goo in the bottom of the chamber. This goo turns out to be poly-peptides - the building block of proteins. Experiment has been repeated many times, larger volume and longer durations with more frequent lightning blasts, and they've been able to create dead single cell organisms in this way. Now getting life into em has been the challenge. They can hook up electrodes and the little buggers dance, but turn off the power, and you've just got a pile of goo. This all was the birth of modern genetics actually - well part of it anyway. So maybe there is a God that put that devine spark of life into every creature, but I doubt it. My money says that eventually they'll figure it out.

i'm just curious. i fucking love astronomy. my astronomy professors in college all touched on the subject briefly. three were religious men, one wasnt. and the one that wasnt, his lack of religion, he said, had nothing to do with the fact that he was a scientist.
