Shee-Male Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 the thing that realy bothers me is when bible thumpers raise and homeschool children, brainwashing them with there narrow minded religious belifes and the grow up thinking you can acctually live inside a fish along with other foolish tales of the story book. Those children will prove to have a difficult time in the real world as they grow. Quote
banshee04le Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 1.The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in eleven caves along the northwest shore of the Dead Sea between the years 1947 and 1956. The area is 13 miles east of Jerusalem and is 1300 feet below sea level. The mostly fragmented texts, are numbered according to the cave that they came out of. They have been called the greatest manuscript discovery of modern times. 2. Only Caves 1 and 11 have produced relatively intact manuscripts. Discovered in 1952, Cave 4 produced the largest find. About 15,000 fragments from more than 500 manuscripts were found. 3. In all, scholars have identified the remains of about 825 to 870 separate scrolls. 4. The Scrolls can be divided into two categories Quote
Shee-Male Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 that guy has entirly to much time on his hands to write those long ass posts that I can't be bothered to read. Quote
Bansheeman1121 Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Some of you are plain stupid and really ignorant, i mean we all have 1 thing in common we love banshees but why would you call someone a bible thumper and such for having a strong faith? Does it make you look or feel better about yourself? Yeah i no the world we live in its more acceptable to ommit god from just about everything and accept everything that you see on tv or how sceintists found out we evolved from fish and stuff but the people who are really narrow minded is not somone who takes the time and attends church every sunday but its the person who thinks there better than others becuase there aithest, but its ok with me the bible or whatever it is to you tells how all this will happn and i can truly see it everyday, its just somthing that we have to live with in these times, but maybe before you jump on the whole kick how religion or faith means nothing to you, maybe you can open your eyes and see there is a way through god hes open to everyone no matter what you have done in the past, The rest is up to you, PEACE Quote
MILO Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 helldriver, how can you believe in hell and driving yourself to it, and obvoiusly believe in demons and so on by your avatar, but yet not believe in the existance of anything such as Christ, God, and heaven? i'm not picking on you specifically, i just never understood that kind of thing with anybody we could all go round and round over this topic again and again, and never solve anything for anybody. nothing anybody sais or supposedly has proof of this or that is going to turn me away from my Christian upbringing, experiences, and faith. i'm sure it's the same for non-believers and their views. but i do know this...i've seen enough from both sides of the coin to know that there are such things as good and evil, heaven and hell, life and afterlife. i'm sure most of the rest of you have also, but your background and beliefs determine how things are interpreted in your own mind, whether you believe it or not, accept it or not, follow it or not. but you cannot deny the existance of 'something' being out there that is beyond what you yourself are capable of being, creating, or even remotely understanding. you cannot just write off everything that exists or occurs in our world as mere circumstance or coincidence. so why does it seem so unreasonable that a higher power is in control of it all? Wallrat Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Dead Sea Scrolls - you forgot to mention that the biggest buyer of the scrolls was none other than the catholic church. They currently have most of the scrolls. Certain scrolls were released but the others were in "too bad of condition". Translators were used but they were only given small snips of a scroll - unless of course the scroll seemed like it was ordinary stuff (laws and whatnot), in that case, a single translator could be trusted to see the entire scroll. One such scroll, which appeared to cover law, actually discussed the different titles given to VIP's, like calling the king: Jesus (nope, not his name, just a title). Whoops! Milo, I hear what you're saying man. I really do! I can argue religion all day and realize that nobody is going to change their opinion. Doesn't matter I guess, although some might be bummed that they couldn't "save" me. It makes more sense to you that a higher power created everything, just as it makes more sense to me that shit happenned chaotically. I'm betting on extremely rare occurances forming a perfect system by accident, and you're betting on an invisible man. Putting it that way, we both sound crazy! I think Helldriver kinda hit on the meat and potatos of the issue earlier when he said that people throughout history have justified that which they didn't understand as being Holy. If you took your banshee back 200 years, you can bet ur ass that the people of that time would think either you were a god, or your engine was some kind of miracle. We know its not a miracle, its just good science. But people 200 years ago hadn't grasped the concept of the internal combustion engine. All religions are fraught with attempts to explain what seemed unexplainable. Even today, we use the creation myth to tell us how we got here. Shit pick a story...basically the whole use of religion to explain unanswered questions is alive and well in today's society. As people become more educated they understand why things are and don't need to take the easy answer of "god's will" anymore. Luckily there will always be questions. I don't think science will ever prove all the questions of the universe so there will always be a place for some type of religious belief. But I'm still voting for a godless religion... Quote
rjvoight Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 He is Risen! Jesus has defeated death and given us hope. He has proven he is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the one and only Son of God. We now have hope. Happy Easter Everyone, RJV Quote

But I am calling you on one thing. By this very post you have completely proven one thing. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. It would be one thing for you to choose to believe Jesus is just a man and the Bible is a bunch of stories if you actually knew what you were talking about. Even the most staunch non-belivers understand what the Bible is saying, they just refuse to belive it. Others just respond with anger to anyone or anything that has to do with Jesus and spout of about fractions of knowledge they have picked up over the years. Acting like they have it all figured out. The fact that people don't believe Jesus is alive does not change the fact that he is. If I were you, I would pick up a Bible and read Mark. I would read through it at least two times. The reason I say twice is because the frist time you will most likely breeze through it not really reading. Especially if you end up picking up an old King James version. The second time through you will probabally slow down a bit and start to pick up what is being said. I am not trying to convert you. I am encouraging you to gain a little knowledge so that your arguments will make sense. You could probabally get through Mark in an hour if you were to just read it. Or a couple days if you read a little at a time. Anyway.......I don't have much else to say. RJV Quote
helldriver Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 (edited) well the thing i have against you bible pushers is the fact that you try and push your veiws on other people,,, and you people have alot to say, but really say nothing fact is, i dont belive in your fairytale god, there is no heaven to go to, when you die, you fuckin die, end of story i find it funny that in the 21st centurty people still need to grasp onto religion and cant deal with stuff on their own,,, its a fable, get over it again nothing personal agaisnt you you belive what you want as i do Edited April 16, 2006 by helldriver Quote
rjvoight Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 Good enough HD. One last question, do you feel I was trying to push my beliefs on you? This thread was meant to wish people well on the weekend, remind people what Easter is a celebration of (here in the US anyway) and I knew it would probabally open some discussion on the topic which I think is good for everyone. So if you felt like I was Bible Thumpin' on you, I wasn't. RJV Quote
Bansheeman1121 Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Helldiver, how are we or anyone pushing religion on you? You belive in hell and obvoisly hope to get there someday, so do you belive a heaven exists? I mean belive what you want and do what you want, but when you say "he has risen where can i see" why dont you take the time to read the bible which you call a bunch of stories maybe you will get somthing out of it maybe you wont but i can assure you when you find christ it will open your eyes pretty quick and you will relize how foolish you have been, Hes there man and its up to you to find him and accept him, anyways Happy Easter guys take it for what its worth Quote
