Well heres the deal, fried a piston last october. So as always took her apart inspected it to find one piston in real nice shape other one beat to hell so i got one side honed and bought a new piston so both sides are 90 over.This is my 4th rebuild in 2 years so i have about had it. Bought new 20cc does for both sides after the old one got beat up to the point where it couldnt be used. Puut everything back together then insall my v forces my 30mm carbs fill it with gas and kick kick and kick some more to no luck, so i put a few drops of gas in the carbs and it started right up but revved to trhe moon and died it will start up everytime with some gas in the carbs note that all aftermarket stuff reeds and carbs were both on the last time it blew up so nothings new that would thow it off. ive taked the whole fuel system apart 4 times now switched the reed spacers to both poisitions taken both carbs apart taken all jets out done everything i could thin k of and it just dont wanna run any help lease u guys have started my shee before why not again!!!!! thanx 4 any help

4 th rebuid in 2 years holy crap well sum how its not gettin enough fuel makin it run lean so thats why it revved like a muther try richen it up a bunch or goin up a size on ur pilots also try puttin a thin layer of grease around the edges of ur reeds might be and airleak prob

This may sound stupid but I have had it heppen before. Have you checked to see if fuel is getting to the carbs. My tank had clog in the line right before the valve. I blew it out with an air hose and it fired right up. Good luck!!

I agree with the above two posts, you are either giving the motor too much air or not enough fuel. Could be a clog in the fuel, A leak anywhere, have you done a leak down and compression test.

 

4 rebuilds in two years? Something isn't right. A hone and new piston really doesn't constitute a rebuild to me, that's just shining a turd. How are the tolerances for 90 over rings? How does the bore look, is it still round.

 

I think this may come down to something other than fuel/air issues. You're top end might need to go 100 over or become a paper weight. I know it's not the opinion you wanted to hear, but it's another poosibility.

 

If you could punctuate that post even slightly, it would be a whole shit load easier to read.

Still no luck guys what dou mean by cutouts facing rear?? The crank seals were just done when i installed my hotrods crank so its possible that here bad but i doubt it becuase it was done so recently. i just cant figure it out pur gas in the carbs fires right up till it used it up then dies....... Ive taken all jets out the carbs apart 3 times and no luck

PAUL! Whats up long time no see! I just got my shee back together after pc'd shit on it and other stuff. Man yuo got the worst luck with that. I got the same top end 5 years wth 122 in each cylinder no joke! Check your fuel lines, if that not it then you gotta clean out your carbs, if not crank seals...Good luck

Check your float levels, idle screws, reed pettals, and gaskets around reeds and jugs.

Sounds like you might have a combination of problems?

I hope you figure it out, just take your time and rule out the simple things first.

Its easy to get frustrated and give up...been there done that.

What I mean by the Cut outs Facing the Rear is that with a Twin Especially with Mikunis (I'm not sure About Kiehins) you have a Left and Right Hand Carb and a Left and Right Hand Slide.In the Carbs you have the Pin Sticking thru to the Inside that Hold the Slides from Turning in the Bore.If you Switch the Slides they will be Backwards with the Cutout Facing towards the Cylinders.You will need to make sure the Cutout on the Bottom of the Slide is Facing your Intake side of your Carbs.I've seen it happen a lot especially with a Suzuki Waterbuffalo that I bought a Couple of Years Ago.It ran Fine on 1 Cylinder.The Other Two Center and Right Hand Carbs had the Slides in Backwards.I didn't Realize it until I had Cleaned the Carbs and Started reinstalling them. bangheadbangheadbanghead
