cleaning this mess up...

what should i do to clean this junk? is it okay to use water around the wires and everything? i realize im not gonna have a blingin bike like rnbrad but id like it to be decent. right now its filthy. thanks.

Since you've got it tore down that far, I'd consider tearing down the rest of the way, and cleaning it up right. You might consider throwing a coat of paint on it while you're at it, or have it powdercoated if you've got the $$$.

get some engine de greaser for the engine and some of that tire shine stuff that foams up it will clean the wires up good... and no water will not hurt it... thats why i wash mine after i ride it...

 

 

but dont get water inside the motor i noticed your intakes are open...

Simple green, or 409 will work fine just spray on and wipe off if you dont want to use water.

Just throw a some plastic bags over the air filter setup and exhaust pipe outlets. Then hose away!

From the pics it doesn't look like its that far away. I just got done going all back together on my bike and I was shocked at how easy and how little time it really took.

i use crc engine bright. hose down, wait ten minutes, hit bad spots with a brush, spray off THOROUGHLY.

 

note: not blacktop safe

I like to sandblast my entire bike every time I ride it. Gets those pesky black plastic sidecases right off. I know those are a tricky item on banshee. Let me tell you... sandblasting will take it all right off.

not trying to hi jack this thread but would there be interest in some O-ringed plugs for the exhaust and intake ports to seal them while storing or washing you engines?

I could make em out of delrin or teflon pretty cheaply.
