floyd398 Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 (edited) So I was just out riding today with like 10 people. beautiful weather...like 55 or something. I was with a couple friends and also some people I had never ridden with . One guy had the new limited yellow and black 450, about 6 months old. looked really nice. I was itchin to race him all day cuz I've never ridden with any 450's yet. so later on we we came to this spot where it's about 1-2 miles of straight away. he just happened to pull up to me and I knew he wanted to race. so we took off. He actually pulled ahead for about 2 seconds in around 2 gear. from there on in we were neck and neck. I actually had about a front wheel's distance on him but once I hit 5th.. see ya...I started to walk away from him. and by 6th gear I looked back and he was far back . my dust must have bothered him . Yeah it was a stock 450 but I didn't care. anyway just though I would share that. Good day for riding Sorry.. posted in the wrong place Edited January 28, 2006 by floyd398 Quote
rocketboy Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 sometimes yo u gotta put em' in their place and thats in the rear with the gear Quote
KpnitG Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I own a banshee and have never been beaten by a 450. But i have to give them my respect cuz there bad ass bikes! They got some balls! Quote
BansheeBoy17 Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Tip from me : dont try racing 450's with 18" rears and 8" rims on your banshee. Your race would turn around and they tend to pull away on top. I have experience. Quote

Don't get me wrong piped and filtered are generally no problem if you've done some decent work. But if you run a 450 that is built up pretty strong, you're gonna need to be ported, plus some other bolt-ons or they may spank you. I know how to ride, and I've run a couple 450's (a Honda was the baddest I've run) in the dunes, and I had to ride the piss out of my bike to take him, and we were trading wins at that. But, I haven't had my bike ported yet... Quote
99,88banshee Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Well sold my 99 banshee after all that was done to it. Anyways my dad has one with all the same shit done. So after is sold the shee i bought a yfz450. This thing out of the box is fast as 2 thousand dollars put into a banshee, but it actually handles bumps and turns. I raced my dad and beat him by 4 bikes easy, so we switched and then he beat me by 4 bikes on my 450. I like banshees but the new 450s have got ball like i didnt even expect. I do trail riding so the swith was needed for me, but if i did dune racing and other straight line racing i would take a shee. Quote
Wicked98Shee Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 (edited) heh i ride with a couple yfz's and a trx540 .. theyre piped and filtered and 1 yfz has other mods too as he runs the oval and tt's ..... muhahhaaa they're TOAST and breathin' klotz hahahhaahaa Edited January 29, 2006 by Wicked98Shee Quote
korndawg Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 As much as I hate to say it, the YFZ 450's can really run. The thing that really pisses me off though, this...could you imagine if yamaha would have put half the effort into improving the banshee as they have put into the YFZ setup? I guess when they banshees are still selling, and you plan on getting rid of them anyhow, there really isn't much motivation to sink alot of R&D money into it. Quote
banshee tuner Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 You need to try a 700 raptor on hard pack dirt, they will spank a 450 and a piped shee. Quote
KpnitG Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 My bike is ported and to this day have not raced a 450 with comparable amount of work as my shee has.. I havent ridden a honda yet but have raced a couple.. I've seen the 450 race a 450r and their pretty much neck on neck.. I race my shee balls out and i wouldconsider myself a good rider.. Quote
KpnitG Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 How good are the Raptor 700s? I havent seen one run yet.. Quote

banshee tuner Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 I don't know what mods people have that have outrun a 700, but they are fast. I raced one that was stock on hard pack clay and could not catch him cause he leaps out of the hole and keeps his distance. I raced a piped one yesterday in sand and could not beat him. Looks like some port work is in my near future. The only 450 that has beat me have all the goodies and I could catch him at the end. Quote
