Quadracer18 Posted December 27, 2005 Report Posted December 27, 2005 Can any of you guys tell me how much a full topend costs including a gasket set? Also about how long will it take to install the new topend. Ive rebuild single piston 2-strokes before and im knowlegdeable. Im gonna buy a topend kit, get the cylinders honed, and i wanna knock the rebuild out in a day so by feb 7th im ready for the first race. Thanks, Josh. Quote
fast87 Posted December 27, 2005 Report Posted December 27, 2005 a top end kit is about 150-170...you NEED to get it bored also, theres no point in just honing it unless its in perfect shape...and perfectly round side to side and top to bottom....but still it's a fairly easy job, banshee's aer simple as hell, good luck ~Mark~ Quote
Banshee17Racing Posted December 27, 2005 Report Posted December 27, 2005 Whoa whoa whoa.....you never NEED to bore unless the cylinders need it. Honing cleans up any small defects in the cylinders. If they can't be removed by honing, then you NEED to get it bored. I think I put everything together in about 3.5 hours for my first time. It shouldn't be too much different than a single... Quote
sandman4free Posted December 27, 2005 Report Posted December 27, 2005 (edited) you could do it in a day if you had all the parts ready to go, I am almost finished with the wifes shee rebuild, went way faster than I would have thought. I also made my own leak down test rig over buying the motion pro unit. if I would have had all my ducks in a row a one day build would be no problem. mine ran around 500$ for a bore, 2 pistons, bearings, and top end gasket kit. watkins Posted December 27, 2005 Report Posted December 27, 2005 (edited) Like Banshee17Racing said, you dont need to bore unless you need to bore. My last rebuild I didnt need to rebore I just needed a hone since the cylinders were fine. As far as costs go you could get the piston kit with gaskets for $160 at Magic Racing and a last time I had to bore it cost me $35 per cylinder (hone is $25 but all depends on the shop). So my last complete topend including bore cost me ~$250. Putting it all together is simple, just make sure you take your time and dont rush it.. you dont want to have any air leaks or you can kiss your new top end goodbye. Quadracer18 Posted December 27, 2005 Author Report Posted December 27, 2005 $500 for your top end??? this semms way to much unless you had someone else do it. By te way Banshee17Racing shw some pics of that shee in your avitar, it looks insane, is that yours?> Quote
banshee tuner Posted December 27, 2005 Report Posted December 27, 2005 I paid 230 for a complete top end rebuild kit from vito's, 30 for bore and hone to the cylinders. It only took like 2 hours to put it back together and being carefull to not miss anything. It is real easy to do. I will not do a rebuild without bore and hone. Quote
northshore Posted December 27, 2005 Report Posted December 27, 2005 should be 200-250 tops for gaskets, pistons, wrist pins and bearings. as long as you got the hone lined up, it shouldnt take more than a day. Quote

dawarriorman Posted December 27, 2005 Report Posted December 27, 2005 (edited) Call up FAST, I just had him bore my top end, and with the bore, gaskets, o-ring kit for the head, new wrist pin bearings, and shipping it was less than $300. And he had it done and in the mail the day after he got my cylinders. And if the cylinder is in good shape, you don't need to bore it. Honing will clean up minor imperfections. Just make sure the ports are properly chamfered, or else you could catch a ring on the port and ruin a top end. Edited December 27, 2005 by dawarriorman Quote
Quadracer18 Posted December 27, 2005 Author Report Posted December 27, 2005 thanks guys.... Holy shit man, that shee is nuts, ill post some pics of my mx shee when i get the +2+1 a-arms in. How did you get the numbers to stay on the front rad cover. Are they sticker numbers?? thanks, Josh. Quote
Banshee17Racing Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 My grill is home-made . The numbers are stainless steel tig welded to the steel background. Then I just cut the steel to fit inside my rad. cover. Quote
