I did a search to find out how, but I can't get the roostfest link to come up. I keep getting a cannot find server page. So my question is can anybody tell me how and show me some pictures maybe. Anyhoo...from what I've heard, and remember from the Roostfest site, which on my laptop that took a dump I saved the pictures......, you kind of smooth out the cages, and remove material NEAR the reed tips, but leave about 1/32". Don't hog it out so the reed petals won't seal. You got to have something there for them to close against. I think the little cross bar in the middle of the cage was cleaned up a bit too. Quote

You could use some Dykum (prolly wrong spelling) blue, which is essentially a very light die to mark out the areas where you need to remove material. You would mark the outside of the reed petal and then move a small amount in from that and you could remove up to that point. I know my Boyesen reeds allowed the cage to be opened up a pretty significant amount. Some guys say this doesn't do anything, but the way I see it, it has to flow more air after you port the cages. I think the people that notice a difference had more of a psychological response (they really thought it was going to do something, so their mind made them think they noticed a difference). Think about it, 26mm carbs have an area of 5.3 sq cm. I know the reed cages are bigger than that. Quote
