I just got the new ATV Action and it has the Outlaw in it. IRS on a sport quad is pretty cool. It definately weighs more, but not that much more for a first try. They may be on to something, it really does look like it was well thought out and done right.

I think it would be interesting to see a performance revue from a magazine, with the exception of Dirt Wheels.

On one hand I think of it as, if it was such a good thing why hasn't it been done before, but then again you have so many bikes selling so well, why fuck with the design? Tooling aint cheep.

On the other hand, about the only new "high performance" sports car with a rear axle instead of IRS is the "new" Mustang isn't it? Get my drift?

:cheers::lol:

But before I pass judgement on the performance I'd like to either ride one in the terrain it was designed for or see a good honest NOT PAID FOR revue in a good magazine (not Dirt Wheels)

On looks I'll be more than happy to pass judgement, I still think the fucker looks like Zorak from Space Ghost Coast to Coast if you painted it green.

IRS is tricky. on the front of a quad its raked back a lil to absorb impacts at speed. but what about on the rear of that? i seriously doubt it is since its probably bases upon a sportsman rear setup. with out the rake its gonna ride like shit. then theres the issue of body roll. lord knows thats THE last thing i want during a fast turn. plus now youve got to serivce out a rear diff and 4 cv's. seems like a lot work compared to chain tension and cahin lube. and i want to know how it flys through the air, probably like a trail blazer. :bolt:

im anti polaris BTW.

Chain adjustment on the Outlaw has got to be better then that of the stock Banshee!

At this point no-one knows much on this machine. This could work out to be something great for sport/trail riders. Polaris is doing it without adding too much weight. Supposably, not much more in cost either. Gotta give them credit for trying to make improvements, Yamaha refused to do anything with the Banshee besides different colors. Can you imagine if Yamaha would have changed a few things such as chain adjustment or carbs/fuel injection????

it makes me sick that america cant make a high performance sport quad that is worth a shit. :blink: IRS on a sport quad is a bad idea IMO and makes really poor handling manners in corners(push),and the foreign 500 motor in the polcrapis is pure shit iMO too its slow as hell compared to a yfz450 ,this is the united states... we have invented amazing technology ,yet we cant even make a decent quad that doesnt handle like shit and can pull hard in every gear...its pretty sad :(

There's a video, if you go to the left on that polaris page, click on outlaw, and then gallery.

It looks to me, like the rear suspension is super stiff, but it would almost have to be to reduce chassis roll. I can't wait to see one in the trails, and see how it does.
