well no shit.

the strongest way i know how to fix a hole in aluminum is a time sert. im not really keen on how they work, but i know they do. the machinist at my shop has put two in my PD head (for the water fitting). it hasnt stripped out yet, or even shown signs of budging. if you cant find one of these, look for a helicoil. its along the same principal. you will be doing some drilling, so either cover up the intkae REAL good, or take the cylinder off. removal would be your best bet since metal shavings dont help out a topend very much. good luck to ya!

try using a tap w/ a similar thread pitch but a bigger stud size and use a bolt that matches the hole

Do you know what type of places carry the Time Sert. That looks like the way I want to go.

Do you know if it stripped the threads out all the way down?

You might be able to get a little longer bolt and catch some threads at the boottom of the whole. I would probably try this first. Heli coil kit would be my second choice for sure. Those are not cheap but will definetly work. All you will need to know is the size of your bolt. If you get the kit make sure it comes with the drill bit you need and the insert tool for the heli coil. I f you need some more info let us know. ie bolt size or whatever.

There is about half of the threads left. Tomorrow I will try to find some longer bolts. I might just get the Heli-Coil just in case that doesn't work out. Thanks

i really wish i could tell you where to get some, but i have no idea. our service manager orders them like the rest of our consumables from some supply shop. from what i hear they are difficult to be done right, so you might just want to have your stealership do it.

maybe replace those bolts with some aluminum ones. that way hopefully the bolt would break before the threads get dicked up

justr a thought though.
