I here a ton about the toomey t5s, but whats the deal with the t-6s? Does anyone have them here? I heard if you trade in your old t5s toomey will give you a big discount on a set of t6s. They sure look fatter than t5s

If you plan on doing alot of mods, go with the T5's. If you only do minor mods, the T6 is the way to go. The more mods you do internally to alter the port-timing, the better the T5 will perform, not so with the T6.

Agreed, and for that matter, I'd stick with the T5s, even if your not planning serious work, you never know where it will lead you. The T5s are great pipes.

i thought of that at first :whoa: . i have the t6 pipes and i will see if it is good for porting.i just got the wiseco hot rod +4 ctank and level two porting, v-force and spacers, boost bottle and cool head. :headbang:

Why would the t5s respond better to porting?  Wouldn't the fatter pipe be better for a big breathing motor? Toomey would not make a pipe that was  a step down from thier last design.

they want a pipe that performs better to the average joe, which the t6 does, but some pipes, based on how the sonic area is designed perform better than others with mods, i.e. porting, strokeing etc, as does the t5.

So what your saying is the shape is more important that the size. Just because you have a big ass pipe it does not mean that it will perform better than one with the correct shape. Some shapes lend themselves better to stock motors and some to modded ones.???

id say this is all bullshit, i had a heavily ported bike with timing advanced, coolhead 17cc domes aftermarket carbs, ported reed cages, carbon fiber reeds , the pipes(t-6) pulled hard as hell all the way through. im not trying to start a fight i'm just telling u what i know from experience..

I agree, i had the t6's on my bike for a while pulled hard just wanted more on the top, t6's IMO are good all around.

i'm sure you two have more experience with the Toomeys than I do, my experience tends to fall short with the Toomeys, CPIs, Rockets and all those "fancy ass" pipes. :D

I did. And there own tech told me the T5 are the best choice for a Modifed Engine.

But T6 still work on a modifed one.

But niether One will Rev with the Shearer or Cpi's.

Just go to toomeys website and look at the pipe sets. Under the T6 catagorie they say "for stock motors" and under the T5s they say "for modified motors" Im currently using sst's but I have used t5s in the past and they are a great pipe. call toomey and tell them what you are gunna do with your banshee and they will tell you what pipe you need... If I where gunna buy new pipes they would be toomeys Idk which ones but I would go with prolly T5s since I plan on some good motor work and I have read they respond better to motor mods but Idk I would call them and talk to the pros at toomey before I made up my mind... The T6's look HOT!! No doubt

It isn't really the porting that hurts the T6, it is when the port-timing is altered. The T6 is mostly for a stock engine, it will perform well when ported, coolhead, reeds, minor mods. But when you go deeper, the T6 falls short and the T5 responds! Call toomey and ask for Jay, he will explain it to you if you want more in depth info.

I ran the T'6's with my porting, and it pulled fine though the rpm band. I did get an increase in power after porting with the t6's. But I have three other sets of pipes, and all did better than the t6's after the porting.(Fmf Fatty, Graydon proline, and Paul Turner High Rev)
