Jstrong Posted December 1, 2025 Report Posted December 1, 2025 Hey guys so I’m looking to upgrade my axle. Right now I have a tusk axle, it’s a great budget axle but it’s very heavy and also the axle nut (that came with it)slowly loosens up at times even with blue lock tight. Maybe I’m doing something wrong? But I have to retighten it sometimes.. been looking at the RPM dominator 2 Axle and the Durablue axle. Between the two which is better? Also which is lighter and more durable. which provides the best warranty and is it worth the upgrade from tusk to any one of them at all? if anyone out there has had experience with both I would love to hear your opinion. kawa110 Posted December 2, 2025 Report Posted December 2, 2025 I have two durablue axles, each have a different size axle nut. I had issues keeping the stock axle nuts tight as well as the durable’sI purchased 1/2 drive crows feet for each of my durablue axles. Only way I have been able to keep them tight. Don’t “crush”the carrier bearings.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
locogato11283 Posted December 5, 2025 Report Posted December 5, 2025 Go with an aluminum axle. Save a ton of rotating weight. I run a JJ&A play axle on my duner. Zero issues. Quote
JerzOutlaw350 Posted December 6, 2025 Report Posted December 6, 2025 I personally own a RPM Dominator ll axle. I love the axle. I’ve also sold a few RPM axles to other people who have been very happy with the RPM axle. The RPM axle I have replaced a Lonestar axle. I bent the Lonestar axle and their warranty was to send it to them to have it straightened. I got it back and a couple rides later the axle broke. Lonestar gave me a hard time about replacing it I finally told them to F-off and bought a RPM. If you purchase a RPM axle buy it directly from RPM and not from EBay. Two of the guys that I ride with in the group have Durablue axles on there banshee and they seem to be ok and another one has a Tusk axle and he has to keep checking and tightening his axle lock nut every time we go riding. He said eventually he is going to change the axle. Quote

And I thought i was the only one going through that with the tusk axle lol Quote

gusto Posted December 8, 2025 Report Posted December 8, 2025 Use a double nut on your tusk axle and save your money Quote
JerzOutlaw350 Posted December 11, 2025 Report Posted December 11, 2025 The 1st generation Tusk G-Force axle was a better design axle than the axle that they sell now. The 1st gen used the OEM axle nuts. RPM and Lonestar are the only two axles made till this day that you still have to use the OEM axle nuts. The Tusk and Durablue axle uses a 3 piece axle lock setup. Also the current version Tusk axle is a universal fit axle for the Banshee’s, Blaster’s and Raptor’s. The Durablue, Lonestar and RPM axles are all roughly in the same weight range and they are also roughly in the same price range. Quote

However it’s the heaviest, but also the most durable. If you’re more of a duner/play rider and wanting to ditch the weight, look at the JJA axle set ups. Quote
