  1. You need to avoid buying cheap Chinese knockoff PW’s carbs at all cost and “ONLY BUY” genuine keihin 28mm PWK’s carbs. Check with any of the sponsors on the site here for them.
  2. According to their website they have a email address and a phone number to contact them. It also says that they are located in St. Paul, MN 55106. They also have a customer service live chat on their website as well. What is your budget for buying a Banshee?
  3. ISO Stock Banshee A-arm Frame. I’m looking for a clean straight frame for my neighbors banshee. The frame must have clean threads, mounting surface and all mounting brackets, but It’s ok if the brackets for the foot guards are cut off. VIN’s don’t matter I can cut his VIN’s off and have them welded over the exchange frames VIN’s. His 1992 Banshee frame has a spot that rotted from the inside of the frame and worked it way out that which caused it to break and has caused it to come to the end of its life and cannot be repaired. The frame is rotted all around the right foot peg area. So if anyone has or knows someone selling one please let me know. Thanks
  4. The reason why asked about the carbs is because there are a lot of fake Chinese made carbs being sold on market these days especially on eBay, Amazon and Vito’s Performance. I had the right side carb go bad (little glass window that you use to sync the carbs fell out) on my 04 banshee and what they wanted to replace both carbs I went and bought 2 brand new keihin 28mm pwk’s instead. If you do a leak down test that would tell if the crank seals are shot. Go on YouTube and look up SouthTexasBanshee he has plenty of useful videos that are very helpful with plenty of information. You also might want to check the vent on the fuel cap.
  5. Where did the Brand New OEM carburetors come from?
  6. You are better off with the aftermarket chain slider. The oem setup is prone to failure.
  7. I would say buy the oem Yamaha fuel shut off valve unless you’re planning to do some major engine / carburetor upgrades later down the road then I would recommend purchasing the dual pingle shut off valve. The rebuild kits are pretty much a universal rebuild kit. When my fuel shut off valve went bad I just replaced it with the oem Yamaha one. It’s all up to you on what you want to purchase. Good luck!!
  8. Yes, any and all bearings have to be removed. ie( front hubs, rear bearing carrier, swing arm and steering stem )
  9. You might want to post a thread of this question over in the Drag forum.
  10. Currently on my Banshee I’m running the 21x7-10 and 20x11-9 6 ply Kenda Klaw XC. I like them a lot because they have excellent traction in all types of terrain that I ride in and the added bonus is with the rear tires because you can run them in 2 different directions. One direction is for soft terrain then the other direction is for a medium to hard terrain. As for my wheels I’m using my oem black wheels that I had powder coated semi gloss black.
  11. No problem! I don’t know if you have one or if any of your buddies have one but you might want to hit up your local dealership and invest in a ratio rite cup. That will help with mixing the 2 stroke oil and gas together accurately. You also have to look for a good grade of 93 octane gasoline or even look for a place in your area that sells E-free gasoline. E-free gasoline is ethanol free and at some places they sell it in 91-97 octane. In my area there is 2 places that sell it and one sells 95 octane and the other place sells 97 octane. If you have anymore questions don’t hesitate to put a post up on the site here and someone here will help you out.
  12. To be honest anything that VP Racing make is a great product but there’s many different brands of 2 stroke pre mix oil on the market that are also very good as well. There must be a specific reason why the previous owner used VP’s brand over the other brands. So If you need to buy the VP’s Racing brand of 2 stroke oil online then that’s really not a big deal. A lot of people on the site here have there preference on what they run and like very much and most will tell you to try either Klotz R-50 or Klotz Super Techniplate, Klotz Benol, Maxima Castor 927 or Blendzall Green Label and the list is endless. I myself personally prefer Motul 800 2t off road. I been using it since my Banshee was brand new in 2004. I mix it at 50:1 because if I do it at 32:1 then I get the black drool coming out the end of my silencers. If Motul was to discontinue the brand I use I would switch to either Klotz R-50 or Klotz Super Techniplate or even Blendzall’s green label. The group that I ride with they all use Klotz as their choice of 2 stroke oil. So just stop pussy footing around a get out and ride the hell out of the damn thing and enjoy it !!!!!! Good Luck and Ride Safe !!!
  13. I showed my neighbor the pictures of this Banshee on my iPad because he is a retired old school Yamaha mechanic with 30 years of experience. He said that all the plastics that are on this Banshee are the original factory plastics. He also said the plastics that were made in 87 - 92 were made way better than the plastics from 1993 and up that were cheaply made. He also said that 1987- 1992 had warning stickers and the 1993 and up came with riveted on warning labels. He wanted me to say that this thing is the perfect candidate for a full restoration and said don’t cut any corners buy doing a cheap restoration job and that this machine deserves the best quality parts available.
  14. Welcome to BansheeHQ! There is plenty of members here that can help answer any of your questions or help with any problems that arise. From reading your post it sounds like you might of found yourself a great deal. I have a couple of questions to help you get some of the answers you are looking for. I hope that you got to start it up and got to ride it before you bought it. The next thing you need to consider is how long was this Banshee stored without it being started? I’m just curious because if it sat too long the gaskets and seals will dry out and start to leak which will lead to a catastrophic failure. I would highly recommend that you consider doing a compression test and a leak down test asap. I would also highly recommend going completely over the Banshee before considering taking it out riding. My question is what brand of 2 stroke pre mix oil did the previous owner give you? How old is the content in the bottle and is the bottle still factory sealed? Good Luck!!
  15. I have stock kickstarter and I also have size 13 feet and only kick it over while wearing work boots or riding boots. My Compression is 145 psi I also don’t have heal guards but I do have full rear fenders and my calf doesn’t come into contact with the rear fender while kicking it over.
  16. Welcome to the site! Are you looking to lower your Banshee like the guys that has them setup for asphalt drag racing or are you just looking to lower the ground clearance a little bit? What type of front shocks are you running?
  17. Yes, Atv’s in 1987 came with a title. My neighbor just went through this with his Banshee. There’s a few ways of obtaining a title for your Banshee. It’s a lot of work to get a title and to some people it’s not worth it effort. You had the VIN # checked and it came back clean then I would leave it alone unless you plan on doing some illegal riding. But here’s a few options for obtaining a title. *1st way I would just have the guy you bought it from write you a bill of sale and have it notarized and then have him get the original owner to write a bill of sale and have it notarized as well. Then just ride the Banshee and enjoy it! *2nd way is by having the original owner apply for a duplicate title though the state DMV as long as the title was transferred into his name after he purchased the Banshee from the dealership. If he didn’t transfer the title after he purchased the Banshee then he might be able to contact the dealership and see if they still have a record of the sale. *3rd way If you know or if you have a close friend that owns a towing business then you can have him apply for a abandon vehicle title through the state DMV. Good Luck!!
  18. We need more info about type of carbs you are running and what jets you have currently in the carbs? (mains & pilots) Did you see if you are getting fuel from the tank to the carbs?
  19. What type of filter setup are you using? Do you have the air box lid on or is it removed? How big of a crack / hole are you taking about size wise? Where is the crack / hole located at in the air box?
  20. Jetting the carbs depends on the mods that you have done to your Banshee and your location where you live and outside temperatures. What main jets & pilot jets are you running right now and what is your air screws set at? You very rarely have to mess around with the needle. Also what type of premix are you using and at what ratio?
  21. What you need to do is get yourself either a 18” or 24” pipe wrench and a piece of pipe that is about 2 or 3 feet long and break them loose. Put the pipe wrench on where the wrench would normally go. Also remember lefty loosely & righty tighty. You also might have to apply a very small amount of heat around the base of the spark plugs to help the aluminum expand to release its grip. You should torque the spark plugs to 14 or 15 ft lbs. with either a 13/16 or 22 mm 6 point socket. Good luck!!
  22. Thanks again for the advice guys and I appreciate it very much. I purchased everything I needed from Jeff @ F.A.S.T Racing. I explained to Jeff what I was doing and he made a recommendation and then set me up with everything I needed for the repair. Thanks to Jeff @ F.A.S.T Racing for the excellent customer service and I would highly recommend F.A.S.T Racing to anyone!! 👍👍
  23. Thanks for the advice guys. I’m going to check out what the BHQ sponsors have to offer. So aside of fixing the water pump I noticed when I removed the side cover I found another problem and I showed the owner and I told him that while I have it apart it would be a good time to replace the parts that are worn out and he said go ahead and replace what ever needs to be replaced. This Banshee still has the original clutch installed but the clutch basket fingers have deep grooves worn into them. So aside of fixing the water pump now I have to shop for a clutch basket, clutch Kit, pancake bearing and a couple other little things to complete the repair. I’ll give an update on where I got the parts from in a little while. Thanks again!!
  24. I’m working on my neighbors 2002 Banshee with a Coolhead with 22cc domes. So today while a group of us were out riding his water pump seal blew. So I got the banshee here in my garage and I drained all the oil out of the transmission and then I got the entire coolant system flushed out of all the white milky crap. I found the easiest way to clean out the coolant system of the white milky crap is to use hot water at about 135* or so mixed with dawn dish soap. Then I remove the drain bolts and copper washers from the cylinders and I removed the oem water pump cover and it still has oem water pump impeller installed and then I continued to flush the system out until the water was completely clear and I also removed the overflow bottle and got that all cleaned out and got both rubber hoses cleaned out as well. So now my question is What’s The Best Water Pump Rebuild Option Parts Wise?
  25. D.I.D is a really good brand of chain and they do come on some of your major brands of dirt bikes as a OEM chain. The downside of the brand is the price. There is other brands of chains that are just as good as D.I.D at a less expensive prices and they hold up hold up just as well. You can check out these companies Motosport.com or Rockymountainatvmc.com and see what they have to offer. Just make sure that you replace both front and rear sprockets when buying a new chain ( it would be senseless and a waste of money to put a new chain on old worn out sprockets ) and also check for worn out drive line parts like upper & lower chain rollers, chain slider and the rear chain guide. Also if you don’t have one yet make sure you look into purchasing a case saver because banshees are prone to chain wack.
