252wheelieking Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 (edited) holy donkey balls....i didn't think a 20 tooth sprocket could fit up front! I think we figured out why you got your ass beat so bad by that 450. The front sprocket should have 14 teeth and the rear sprocket should have 41 teeth. Be warned....if you go from a 20 to a 14 tooth up front your going to want to get a few practice runs in before you try to launch your bike in a race......otherwise your going to wind up on your ass watching your shee stand-up on its back end too. it will launch a HELL of alot harder x2.....You are really going to have to learn how to leave the line with the 14T front & 41 rear, because if your use to leaving the line with the 20T in front. The 14T gonna take off like you sitting still & a big truck came from behind you & hit you in the ass for a good head start..... But that why you was losing. The gearing is to high...Good Luck Edited December 11, 2010 by 252wheelieking Quote
06specialedition Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 Thanx guys,I have chnged the jet to 240 and got some vforce3 rads on them and i got k&n filters for each carb...I also changed the sprockets from a 20 to a 16 in front and a 42 to a 38.....I will let you know wht happend after the race tihs afternoon...and I have orderd a timing polate from you guys it will take 2 weeks before I hve it though... Thnax for all the info REALLY HELPED A LOT!!!!! RGDS GOOD OL BOY!!!!! Make SURE you do a plug chop now and see where your at. Don't run it lean just to be a little faster....not worth it If your running V-Force 3's your jetting will need to be adjusted slighty for those. Quote
Good ol boy Posted December 11, 2010 Author Report Posted December 11, 2010 Thanx guys...luckly its raining so hard i can almost luanch a boat in the road ...my friend with the ltr said we will race tommorow so in the mean time i can still fit the vforce and change the jetting and @jereame 6655 i did wind up on my ass and thee shee nearly on top of me with the first pull i did, do you think i should put a 41 or 38 at the back?? Quote
BigRed350x Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 Check your jetting with the smaller main jets. The big power increase could come from a lean condition. It will pull nice and hard right up to the point it blows up. lol Give Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing a call and get your cylinders ported. Buy a cool head, reeds, intakes and some good carbs and change out to a better flowing pipe like CPI's or Shearer's. Kevin can hook you up with any of this stuff. - Jared Quote

I think the 41 would be better in a short drag race but if you drag race/ride long straight aways & want more top end I would choose the 38. Quote

Big ups to Kevin cause the man is a beast @ porting & he knows what he's talking about...my bike is a proven factor! Edited December 12, 2010 by 252wheelieking Quote
2strokespirit Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 First of all, I am pretty sure you do not have a 20 tooth front sprocket on there.... Keep that ratios stock, or IMO go down one teeth at the rear.... Timing and domes/cool head, the 4 strokes will still beat you.... You and the 4 stroke will be head to head.... I can get you everything you want in South Africa.... From pipes to after market cylinders all the fancy stuff on here I import from either site sponsors or other people I know for a few years now... If you want to kick a 4strokes butt, get it ported and sort the traction issues out.... If you want to humiliate them put a 4mm stroker in there and get it ported for the addition stroke.... All can b done local.... Quote
crustydemon Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 have a friend hiding in the woods with a gun to shot out the ltr450's tires. you should win. And that's the only way with what you have, It's going to take alot more than gearing and pipes to beat a full yosh LTR . It's not going to happen without porting unless it's by accident. I smoke yfz450s , and ltr450 , and all my bike has is a kn filter , boost bottle , and toomey t6s dude what happend......DID YOU GIVE HIM A HEAD START..LOL I doubt it. Quote
dave5.0 Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 I had a stocker for a little bit. I was going to bolt a bunch of stuff on it and see how fast it would be against my LTR. I had Shearer inframes and was gonna get VF3s and all the bolt on stuff. Except a boost bottle. Ended up trading it for my old bike back so never got to go through with it. Would have liked to do it though . Drag pipes on a stock port, stock carbs. Good times. Quote
burhead Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 I would be careful with that jetting. I have found that pod filters usually flow better than stock boxes and drop in filters. By changing to pods and dropping the jet size that much, you may now be lean. I dont have any experience with those pipes or your altitude or weather conditions but I bought my bike blown up. Had 260 mains with FMF pipes at 2300 ft and holes in the pistons. When I rebuilt it I ended at 320 mains. I run my bikes a bit rich as the performance gains don't outweigh the risk of burning up a set of pistons and ruining a riding weekend. Quote
camatv Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 learn how to ride.. cherrry bomb and a pipe is tuned to the max? i recently "tuned" a stocker with t-6's and it whipped a yfz 450 with a big bore and sparks pipe.. thats redicouls gearing .. what are you guys doing racing for about 3 miles or some shit> Quote
VictorK Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 I have t5 pipes, rad valves, k&n filter, cool head on 93oc, +4 timing plate, moddded shift star, hinson basket, and the real mod, a port job from Kevin herr. I'm able to smoke my buddy who's 40lbs less, more talented, and on a built yfz450. the only times he wins is if I hit neutral and the best he Does is a tie otherwise. This buddy of mine is fast and consistant. I say you need intakes, cool head, and porting combined with good rear tires. My buddy asked a guy who's a well known local bike builder if he could adjust his valves and he said he doesn't work on 4strokes they're for fags! Quote
RagunCajun Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) t6 pipes are fine. Even with a port job they are fine. Just because they are recommended for a stock port, doesnt mean it will run bad with a port job. Are there better pipes out there for drag racing? Yes. I personally would keep the t6 pipes. Mine ran like a champ. get yourself some Serval cylinders, a good set of Keihin pwk carbs, Noss head, Vforce 3 reeds, an adjustable timing plate maybe a some original Rockets or R2's. And his stock clutch and springs wont hold for long if at all. Then he will be fitting traction and/or his front end coming up. When you step up to high hp drag racing, a set up that works gets expensive. Edited December 14, 2010 by RagunCajun Quote
RagunCajun Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 And to all the "i beat this bike" comments, not even opponent/fellow banshee rider can drive their bike to their full potential. I know i had a VERY hard timing learning how to drag race my bike. Driver skill is huge. Quote
Good ol boy Posted December 14, 2010 Author Report Posted December 14, 2010 Thanx for all the replies....and all the advice so I have summed up... I need to get my bike ported firstly.... then I wil add the timing plate at +4 and the cool heads THEN A MAJOR PROBLEM IS i HAVE TO GET ME SOME RUBBER THAT STICKS TO THE ROAD!!! me and my buddy raced again though and all the races we....................TIED!!!!!!!!!!!
