35thLS1SS19 Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Hey guys i got my shee bone stock about a year ago. rode it for a bit and decided it was time to make it faster, so last fall i did procircuts, took the air lid off and re jetted. Now it wont start. But if i dump a lil fuel in the carbs it fires right up first kick!? Once its warmed up it will kick right away. What could my issue be? I went to 290 mains and air screw 2 turns out, also i had to change the needle in the carbs due to bending one. I got some aftermarket ones that are longer then stock. Could that be the problem? overrevtricky Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Having to dump fuel in the carbs would tell me the problem would most likely be in your fuel system. Are the float bowls filling up? plugged fuel line? Clogged petcock screen inside the tank?? If your spark checks good I would look at the fuel system. Quote
Jereme6655 Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 did you change your pilot jet at all? i know when i got my shee i had to step up one size on the pilot jet because the previous owner never changed it when they put on Fatty's......wow...what a difference... im not sure if pro-circuits would need rejetting of the pilot jet but it sounds like that could be a aproblem with your shee. sounds like you may be a little lean on the pilot circuit. bansheesandrider Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Is the choke tube between the two carbs in place? Quote
35thLS1SS19 Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 yes the choke tube is in place. i will check my fuel system. But once its starts its good to go till it sits again? I head that i may have put the wrong fuel bowl back on the worng carb and this could cause it? Quote
firebanshee Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 I would put a 27.5 pilot jets in it. Quote

If so, then the bowls are different. Swap the bowls and the bike should fire up with the choke. The choke circuit doesn't function with the other bowl therefore the bike needs extra gas upon start up. Mailman Quote

Mailman mailman, can you check out this.. i had both bowls off and next to each other, i don't really see a difference other then a brass ball in one of them... ive never really had my shee running perfect (well, i also have nothing to compare it too) but its aways giving me some sort of problem from the previous owners... My Thread asking about bowls... with pics Quote
35thLS1SS19 Posted April 27, 2010 Author Report Posted April 27, 2010 tried switching the fuel bowls still no luck. Quote
papa_smurf49319 Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 are you using choke when starting cold? What pilot? 27.5 is what i would have in there. Cody Quote
35thLS1SS19 Posted April 27, 2010 Author Report Posted April 27, 2010 yes i am usin the choke. when i first put the pipes on and jetted it, it would still start. I didnt change anything except the weather got warmer. it has the stock pilot jet in it. Would that have something to do with it starting? Quote
RedStrapperRacing Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Yes, agree with these guys above - bump that pilot jet up. Also after it has sat for an extended period of time you probably have had some fuel evaporate leaving some premix oil residue behind plugging up the pilot jets. The pilots are your inital fuel circut before the mains take over - I.E. if they aren't working your not starting Quote
35thLS1SS19 Posted April 27, 2010 Author Report Posted April 27, 2010 so you think take them out and clean them? even if tehy were dirty you think it would still run good once started? thanks again for all the help guys Quote
overrevtricky Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 so you think take them out and clean them? even if tehy were dirty you think it would still run good once started? thanks again for all the help guys Throw some 27.5 pilots in there like the guys said above. I havent seen any pipe threads on here that still use the 25 stocker. Quote
dajogejr Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 Clean the stock 25's out with a piece of wire or throw some new 27.5 pilots in there and set the air screw and 1.5 turns out from the seated position. Quote
