I have my clutch out right now and bought a new one to replace it. Is it worth buying a billet basket? I wasn't having any sticking issues but the basket has the normal grooving.I know that they're supposed to be stronger but are clutch baskets breaking a common issue? Would just getting a hydraulic lever be a better option. I mainly trail ride, etc. No dunes or racing. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

I have had a piece of a stock clutch basket break off and take out my crank seal on a dune bike, but i wouldn't say it is a common problem unless your are making big power. I have billet baskets in my bikes with polyurethane cusions for the drive gear, i think it is worth it. Good insurance and smoother shifting.

yes, i think they are worth it. ive had my magnum billet basket from FAST in my 10mm cub for 4 years now and it still looks brand new. if youre going to replace it, spend the extra money and go billet and be done with it.

If you need to replace your basket for a legitamate reason, then definetly get a billet basket, otherwise run the stocker until it is done. A legitamate reason is: the figers are heavily grooved- this will cause poor clutch release, the cushions are wore out and the drive gear is moving back and forth, or you have ALOT of horsepower and want peace of mind that it won't grenade. I would go with a good one like Hinson, Barnett, etc., because some guys on here have had problems with the cheaper ones off of Ebay.

mine, the girlfreinds, and my buddys both move back and forth at least a 1/4 of an inch. Do cushions come with the magnum basket?

Yup, I had to do this last year for the same reason. Here is what I picked up : Magnum basket (comes with cushions), Pro Design Impellar, Cascade CDA...well worth the money.

Yes, most if not all billet baskets come with cushions. 1/4 inch of play would be a bad basket. I have had no expierence with the Magnum baskets, but that was one of the brands I have heard negative things about. However, I am sure if you dig enough that you can hear bad things about nearly any brand. I also know Hinson slls cushions seperately so when you need replacements down the road you can get them, I don't know if their cushions will work with other baskets.

you heard what negative about magnum baskets? i can think of tons of people on HQ that run them, myself included. ive had the same one for over 4 years in a 10mm cub and it shows little to no signs of wear.

the magnums are bullet proof and are probably the same exact basket as a hinson, without the expensive name.

My mistake, I was thinking Boss but typed Magnum. The Magnum in the picture doesn't look like my Hinson, but my Hinson is very old. I got it when Hinson was the only thing out there.

The stock ones are so cheap, i rather just keep buying stock ones. No need for me to spend a lot on billet set up.
