Ryda85 Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 i have ran maxima 75wt in my shee since the rebuild. Shifts pretty good although it will not go into neutral while running. soon as it shuts down it will pop right in. i even tried revving it to free up the plates but no help. jim from passion racing recommended atf type f but i had a bunch of the maxima left over so i used it. now i picked up a 250r and need to do a fluid change and am torn on what to put in there. i dont mind doing more fluid changes if it means better shifting/more protection. the 250 is a trail bike and the shee is my open field/play bike. Coupelx Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 thats what i run, neutral is a little easier to find but the best thing is i dont burn up clutches anymore. using regular oil or atv specific oil i could kill a clutch in 6 months. Quote
coronakidd Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 thats what is use in my quads no problem here been using it for last 3 yrs. kim at K&T told me to run it also Quote
blanco25 Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Ive been running atf type f and like it alot. no troubles so far. i just change it about every other time i ride. its cheap and easy to find Quote
RagunCajun Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 atf type f is less than $2 a quart at wal-mart. Get two quarts and try it. At worst you lose $4. I used it before i went to my override and it worked fine. I still run it because it's cheap. I dont believe in spending $8+ a quart on expensive oils you will just change in a few weeks. Quote
Ryda85 Posted October 5, 2009 Author Report Posted October 5, 2009 you think its ok for a trail bike? i see alot of you have dunes in you sig... Quote
White97Banshee Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 you think its ok for a trail bike? i see alot of you have dunes in you sig... I would assume that it would be fine because riding in the dunes pushes your motor a lot harder than any trails you could ride. If it holds up in the dunes, it will definitely hold up on the trails. potpye Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 I use the B&M trick shift which is a type F. In my opinion type F works the best its cleaner and I seen a lot less clutch wear. Quote
toddyfresh Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 which type f do u use I went to wal mart and there was dexron or mercon type f Quote
quikshee Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Just buy the wal mart brand "super tech". Quote
toddyfresh Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Kool thanks. Anyone know how to line up stockclutches that were removed I'm stuck in a situation Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Type F is all I run now. I use Valvoline though. I use it in my Hot Rod and my Banshee and it seems to be a lot better. It seems that the clutches aren't as grabby. Before the Type F with the clutch pulled in it seemed like the bike wanted to move now it seems a lot better. Quote
Coupelx Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 funny story for you all. i replaced the clutch with a heavy duty one and it the instructions said to run 30wt motor oil only. started slipping with only 30 hours on it at a local atv event. up to this point i had only run atf until i replaced the clutch. well i still had 2 more days to ride so i ran and got a few qts of atf and tipped the bike on its side to keep the coolant in and took the clutches out and soaked them in a little gas, cleaned everything else up put it back together with some atf after flushing out the gearbox and no sliipage at all. beat the hell out of it all weekend with no problems.
