chevelle7771 Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 i hav a 03 and the cluch is startn to slip can some one tell me how hard of a job and estimate cost on parts[b/] Quote
350BANSHEE350 Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 very simple. you'll need a new clutch cover gasket and wanter pump gasket, clutch plates and new tranny oil and coolant -drain tranny and coolant, remove the lowest rad hose and kick it over, just get most of it out. remove the water pump come, remove the actual metal cover after the plastic cover. let the last bit of coolant drain. remove the clutch cover and you'll see your clutch disc and baskets, remove the 6 bolts with springs in a criss cross pattern (install in criss cross too) and remove the plate and swap out the clutch, re-assemble and fill fluids. i think it took me 15-20 minutes after a few clutches. 350BANSHEE350 Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 so coolant doesnt mix with/ go into the tranny when it comes out if you dont remove it to drain what left, atleast i do, some may not, i remove mine because i like to capture as much engine ice as possible cuz that shit aint cheap. RagunCajun Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 I dont remove my water pump. Never had a problem. Order yourself a Clymer manual. It's around $30. The Clymer manual will show you how to do anything to the bike step by step with pictures. And a new clutch is around $50. Price it where ever you buy parts at and then add the cost of the clymer. Then add a few bucks for coolant and tranny oil and that is how much it will cost you. Pick up a spare clutch cover gasket just incase you rip yours. Add that to the cost too. Quote
krss144 Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Funny just did my buddies last night and added this little addition...well worth the money. My clutch needs to be replaced so I know what I am going to get... Quote
zach45 Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 no need to drain coolant... i just crimp the line with a needle nose vice grip Quote

krss144 Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Slingshot lockup...you can have 0 balls or 66 balls. Mainly for the drag banshees with lots of ponies. We added it to my buddies cause he weighs a little bit more then I do and he kept burning out his clutch cause of the way he rides. Now it slams into each gear and whats really nice is that it feels like you dont have to grab the clutch all the way down to the handle bars, it grabs like maybe 1/4-1/8. Really nice for draging and trail riding. Quote
RagunCajun Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 I like the slingshots due to be able to go with the stealth look. I might get one. I doubt my clutch will last long once my bike gets some use. Quote
