I have a bone stock bike. I don't plan on doing a lot of mods besides: Changing the Pistons, Rings and Bore as necessary most likely some Pro-Lite's. My Tors is removed. K&N air filter, w/o the lid.

Maybe a +4 timing plate. And possibly down the road upgrade the Carbs a step above stock.

I swear the more i read about exhaust the more complicated it gets. I'm debating between the DMC 916's or some Toomeys. I know anything is better than stock. But if you guys are saying Toomeys are junk.. I want to do it right the first time. I like the DMC 916's for there awesome reputation for sound and performance. But I'm worried the spark arrestor will be too restrictive. Compared to the spark arrestors for the Toomeys.

I'm a very versatile rider. Dunes. Trail. Up and down the streets. And the often drag against my friend with the same mods i described. Except his bike came with some T5's. What would you do?

get the DMC 916s, id really say... they are basically a better version of toomeys. they claim gains of 37% in HP and 30% torque...

they really are SCREAMERS when they hit top end

who said toomey was junk? i would run toomeys over dmc, pro circuit, etc.

Snopczynski opinion on Toomeys T5 and T6's is they are junk along with DMC's. He's recommending Paul Turner High Rev's, FMF Gold's, or FMF SST's.

Like i said the more i read the more i get tossed back and forth between pipes. Just looking for some more advice as to what kind of pipes i should run with the type of riding i do. and motor mods i plan on doing.

Also no ones really said much about the DMC Spark Arrestor being less or more restrictive when compared to the Toomey T5's Sparky 2's. My buddy ran the "hush kit" on his toomey'd banshee, and had nothing good to say about it. Noticeable loss of power. restrictive "flow". He did have his bike tuned w/o the hush kit on... but i didnt think this would make such a big difference.. i quote the sparky 2's "NEW Sparky Spark arrestor Version 2.0. This system is the ONLY spark arrestor available that does not hurt the power of the Toomey Pipes!"

That is another BIG determining factor when i buy my pipes. They have to be State Land Friendly (Silver Lake Sand Dunes).

Thanks in advance. I know this questions gets pretty beat after a while.. but honestly, im doing my research and just cant seem to find whats gonna work best

I had done the same thing you have been doing. Eyeballing all the pipe threads on which ones to get.

I thought that I had chosen a pipe to get me good low end torque with the DMC916 pipes that I just ordered last week.

After like 25 replies I had thought that they were considered a good low to mid pipe. I just learned a few days ago that they suck on low end and that they scream at the high end. As far as the spark arrester, It is removeable, and do not come with the pipes set. Its another $59.00 for the screen system US forrestry approved.

I am hearing that they also make a noise deading system for it as well I havent verified it for the 916 system just yet.

My trail bike will now become a duner I guess.

I do have a set of the Toomy T-5 pipes on my other Banshee and they have never let me down draggin in the sand.

I have never raced any highly modded ATV's yet either.

When I hear the T-5 hit the high notes I love them.

The $650.00 price tag for the show chrome pipes kept me from them on this purchase.

I have heard that the Sheearers In frames are like gold on the dunes.

As far as the FMF pipes, I would call the manufacturer and see what the power ranges are for the pipe design. I am not familiar with those pipes. I only have the T-5 pipe that I can blab about for now.

You say that you dont plan on much modding.

If the dunes where you ride are at high altitudes then you wont need bigger carbs because you need less fuel and more air.

I would expect that dunning requires more high end, at least this is the case for me at the Waldon dunes at 8,500 feet above sea level.

I ran the toomey hush kit 2.0 and I dont think it hurts power on a bolt on bike enough to worry about. But it does im sure, but it also makes the bike quieter and legal if you need a spark arrestor.

your going to get everyones .02 and you need a jar to start collecting. But it all depends on how much you want to spend and what your wanting out of the pipes. The pipes will really open up your bike and alowing it to breath is a big key to the bike. There are alot of pipes to look at. So just research and talk to some engine builders is your best start. So all in all you want to dune, trail ride and drag every now and then. That is a good place to start and you just need to find out if you want mid range pipes or top end pipes. My .02 is that i have had great luck with my fmf Fattys and everyone else i have riden with love the T5 for the all around fast trail and dunes pipe. so just take what you can from everyone and start counting the coin

theres nothing wrong with the fmf sst pipes either. i run those good mid to top pipe. i ride trails and rip roads

yeah, fmf claims sst to be "all around".

DMCs either have really shitty bottom end or its just me with bad jetting. but i know they are screamers at top as i repeat.. but if you need some low end i think going with the DMCs might not be a great idea.

ugh.. decisions, decisions.

Its nothing to get all bent out of shape for, they are just pipes and there are different pipes for different types of riding. You need to figure out what type of riding your mainly going to be doing and go from there.

I got some chrome fmf ssts and powercore 2 silencers for sale 240 shipped

If you are lacking bottom end you can always increase timming and change your gearing. YOu dont have to rely on the pipe alone. Reeds can affect this also.
